  1. They still need to ratify the CBA before they can release any of that info. The board of governors meet for their vote tomorrow. I'm not entirely sure when the players' vote is since that's a much larger group. You probably won't see anything schedule-wise until the weekend.
  2. So I read the article now and it appears to be a meta analysis, combining results from several different studies. Overweight is compared directly to normal weight, so there aren't any underweight people skewing that. It's also one of the higher level journals, so it would have been much more thoroughly reviewed than it would have been at the TSW Journal of Medicine.
  3. Interesting site. I may have to check that one out from time to time. Who are faces #1 and #3 on the site's banner?
  4. The quote in the first post is very generic. I've seen it a few times now with certain conditions where being overweight is protective when compared to normal weight. What isn't stated in that quote though is that obesity still leads to increased risk in most cases. Like you, I didn't read either, but the thing that comes to mind immediately here is money. I'm willing to bet that the overweight group has the highest income of the three. Then again, I'm sure they adjusted for this.
  5. Scanning over that list, the phrase garbage time sure is dead on. I'm a bit surprised on Gangster Squad though. When trailers started to pop up for that one a while back, it seemed like they were pushing it pretty hard. I guess it didn't turn out to be the movie they were expecting.
  6. I used to use it out here in Boston, mostly for getting to and from hockey games. As far as I can tell, they didn't bump up the rates at all if you had multiple drivers on the same account, so if you know of anyone who might also be interested, it's a nice way to lower the costs a bit, dividing up that monthly fee. My former boss also used zipcar for a while up until his kids hit the driving age and he swore by it. edit: The car selection was kind of crappy though. I guess you can live with driving the most ridiculous looking car if you don't actually own it.
  7. Can they actually lift stuff that size? The ones in that video were in very convenient locations for the eagles, where they could drag them off the side of the cliff and then glide out to a good dropping spot. Either way, that's a very impressive bird right there. I'd love to get a close up view of one at a zoo or something just to see that wingspan.
  8. Not at all. Most of the stuff I wind up seeing are ones I've seen before.
  9. I knew there was a reason I will never let my kids watch that show
  10. I wish there was someway to actually get a picture each day. These things are always great.
  11. That's amazing. I like the slow motion shots where you see that the eagle tried as hard as it could and then realized the kid was too heavy. It reminds me of this one time on a golf course where I heard something rustling around in some bushes. I slowly walked up to get a closer look and to see what it was. Then a hawk swooped in over my shoulder and picked off whatever it was. The thing was about a foot over my head. It was creepy. It was no baby snatching eagle, but it was a damn big bird.
  12. I didn't watch, but I have to wonder why they would want something like that on film.
  13. Wreck it Ralph was ok, but it just felt lacking to me. Maybe it's the Pixar thing you mentioned. It could have been so much better, but for whatever reason, it just felt sluggish. I did enjoy all of the video game cameos though.
  14. If only they would instead take an easier way out and off themselves without ever leaving home.
  15. And we've got it good over here. Thank god we don't have it like many other parts of the world where kids are targeted or killed far more frequently. I don't know how those more war torn places of the world get by when kids are being killed far more frequently.
  16. That's too good of an outcome for this shooter. He deserves a level of punishment beyond anything we can even think of.
  17. I hate speculating on this, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was an entire class. Someday we'll find out this shooter's motivation and we will all collectively slam our heads against the wall.
  18. Hilarious. I wonder how long it took for people to notice.
  19. Absolutely mind-numbing. I can't even imagine what it would take to make someone do something like this. This one takes evil to a whole new level.
  20. Well he did replace Animal in the Muppet movie that came out last year.
  21. I'm just glad I never found an animated version of Morbo.
