  1. An endless amount of football players pray to Jesus during a game. So if they think Jesus is on their team, the connection becomes very easy.
  2. That and it is Indiana Jones' name.
  3. Sammy Baugh coached the 1964 Houston Oilers. George Blanda played on the 1964 Oilers coached by Baugh. Ken Stabler played on the 1975 Raiders with Blanda. Wade Phillips was the defensive coordinator of the 1984 Saints, which Stabler played for. Alex Van Pelt played for the Buffalo Bills while Phillips was head coach. Fitzpatrick played for the Bills while Van Pelt was the offensive coordinator in 2009. I was going to try to tie in Ralph Wilson instead, but I guess I didn't need to.
  4. Were all of the Happy Days spinoffs all directly from that show?
  5. They can bring him back, but only once Quebec's season is done.
  6. I just did a quick google search and a ton of article popped up saying that NBC passed on the spinoff. They were all dated on October 29th. One story from January said that they decided to air the pilot that was shot as an actual Office episode. I didn't watch this week, but it sounds like that is what happened.
  7. I thought they pulled the plug on the spinoff show.
  8. I just wonder how all the current issues with health concerns and the wear and tear from head shots would impact that. All of a sudden, you're adding that much more impact on the bodies of guys who wind up playing at both levels.
  9. He'd win in court too if that idiot tried to complain. The performer didn't initiate contact.
  10. I did that with season 2 and didn't mind one bit all the complaints that people said about the search for Sophia.. DVDs and streaming of shows online has really hurt the "live viewing" of tv shows. That said, I'm 3 episodes behind right now and they're still waiting for me on the DVR. I'm guessing I'll enjoy them all.
  11. The owners get a huge infusion of cash in the form of expansion fees. The union gets more jobs. What's not to love from guys who have nothing but dollar signs in their eyes?
  12. If you went all out geographically, I think Boston would have to wind up with DC-Philly-NY-NJ. That makes too much sense. So obviously there's a bit more than geography driving this one. The Florida teams don't really fit anywhere. I'm sure they'll bounce around yet again when they change the system again in 2-3 years. Any expansion/re-location will demand it. No matter what people say about it already being watered down, this current system with non-balanced conferences will leave the door wide open to expansion.
  13. The key demographic wasn't even alive at this point when that league was around. There's definitely a market to cash in on, but USFL names will play no role in whether or not they can be a success. The quality of the games is the only thing that will put asses in the seats. I don't think they stand much of a chance though. I don't think there's as much desire nationally for more football. Its burned into the culture at this point that football is a fall winter thing and I don't think that's a habit that can be broken.
  14. Why would they want the USFL names, too lazy to create new ones?
  15. He seems like a guy who would be a very good backup for one of the young QBs out there. The 49ers always pop into my head first. Who is the backup in Indy?
  16. They don't dare split up Philly-Pittsburgh. Another one that they would never split up would be Boston-Montreal, but I'm kind of surprised they didn't try to but the Bruins in with the NYC area teams. Since they're trying to stick to the time zone basis, the only other option I can really think of that they might have even considered would have been swapping Florida-Tampa for Columbus-Washington. Carolina is the closest team to Florida, so they belong in the same division. Columbus has no true rivalries, so moving them is an issue. The NY-NJ block needs to stay together, so you can't move any of them, just like Pittsburgh-Philly needs to stay together. Washington is the only remaining team that makes sense. They have a long history with Pittsburgh too though.
  17. Cancer is about the only thing I could think of.
  18. And one Pope Hilarius. That is by far the best name of them all.
  19. I've seen that joke made about 85 times already (and I'll get it in response again to this post I'm sure). I'm serious with the question though. Why do we always switch the name to our version instead of the name they actually choose? I'm sure we have more than our share of guys named Francesco in the US.
  20. Why do we so quickly americanize the name?
  21. I love how they're constantly being labeled as "kids". It's almost like it is done to make them look like they're somehow innocent in the whole thing.
  22. The thing I find the most interesting is how so many people spout off as if they know exactly how the typical conversation between GMs goes. It's one of those things I have always wondered about, especially when people start talking about trade rumors. It seems like a lot of people exact every single word between GMs to be offer/counter-offer. So for me, this call was interesting because it showed that GMs can have a far more casual conversation than a lot of fans would expect.
  23. Was it said after the Tampa GM was trying to offer up Meridith? Isn't that just one of those go to lines when someone offers you something you're not interested in?
  24. My brother has recently started calling it soda even though he's lived in Buffalo for his entire life (33 years). I have no clue why he does it, but he has always picked up the strangest speaking habits. When he was in high school he always talked like a Canadian. He always said he had no clue he was doing it, but I'm pretty sure he has always done these things for attention. Me, I'm out in Boston and just got some crap from the fiancee when I said pop the other day. Usually I just refer to the drinks by their brand name, but it slipped just this once.
