  1. What Namath had on all the other QB's when he entered the NFL was the media and his own flamboyance. One cannot speculate what he would or could have done had he had healthy knees. All there is to go on is what he did during his career. Before the injuries to his knees, he as quite an athlete, but how that would play out in the NFL is only known by the gods. With that said, Joe Willie Namath had the sweetest, quickest release I have ever seen. He seemed he could merely flick his wrist and throw one 60 yards. Was that enough for the HOF, no. Yet he did add luster to the AFL and was a principal in it's success as noted above. Joe's contributions simply can't be measured purely by his stats alone. As for Tarkenton, I always disliked that noodle armed champion of the dink pass. His was a career of dinking and dunking and longevity. By the way, I'm old enough to recall Namath and Tarkenton in their prime.
  2. Although it's common knowledge that every player you backed, or had hopes for, are all in the HOF or will be soon, you need to let it with respect to JP. Let dead dogs lie.
  3. Maybe you should google Jeff Garcia's wife.......
  4. Hummm, I had a "girl" from Cheektowaga once, and.....well....it was a disaster. However, the REAL joke of a president, Mr All-Time, Hall of Famer "joke' himself, now has a new residence in Dallas. He will never be topped.
  5. While this is no way condoning drinking and driving, it does not take a genius to realize that it was entirely possible that the "victim" could have been the "cause". Donte, who I'm no fan of, may simply had been driving in an area at the wrong time. It's very possible that nothing he could have done would have avoided the tragic event. Sure he shouldn't have been driving, but this isn't as simple as "drinking - guilty" although for many it very well may be. Further, Donte didn't flee the scene, he cooperated with the police, and showed quite more character than a local beloved "beast" who has shown much less. Drunks are a serious problem, but cell phone use has actually been shown in recent studies to be even more so. But hey, a few drinks, he must be at fault.
  6. I'll also agree in that Ted Washington could almost single handedly shut down an opponents run game. It didn't hurt that he had Bruce Smith on one side and Phil Hansen (very under-rated in my book) on the other in the 3-4 played by the Bills at the time. I still recall a Sunday night battle with Tennessee (to open the 2000 season) in which the Bills won 16-13, with Ted Washington and Pat Williams proving to be unmovable objects. The game was memorable as these were the same Titans bastages that won the previous year's playoff game against the Bills with the Homerun Run Throw-up cheat. I recall this game as being the hardest hitting opener I've seen in the multiple decades of Bills openers (and games) that I've seen.
  7. ...........and that my friends best explains how we became a Wal-Mart nation.
  8. Thats "hit" was beautiful. It probably took Esiason a week to remember his own name.
  9. You seem to have forgotten that McKeller was injured and Metz took advantage (McKeller never was the same again either).
  10. Enough of this thread.... Reed's value showed in spades last year(especially in his injury absence). Many here felt similarly a couple years ago but Reed's value to the team, isn't questionable any longer, not to those who watch the Bills and understand the game. You sir, are dead wrong.............
  11. ...try "controversy"....
  12. R Pitiful. Can't even leave the politics alone to honor Randy. Classless.....
  13. Strange, try as I might, I just can't seem to envision "missing" Royal......
  14. Hummm......and those facts are?
  15. So I guess by your logic, Walter Payton = Kelsay? Nice contribution.... As for TO, he is what he is, and extremely talented WR with the character and personality of a gnat.
  16. ....and Bobby's resume states.....oh wait it hasn't a thing fictionally or factually based with respect to his HC abilities. Holmgren, Cowher, Shannahan, Gruden? Something tells us that the $$$ isn't likely to be there for any of these HC's based on 50 years of Bills Football.
  17. It seems a bit strange to not have heard anything from Ralph lately. With the passing of his daughter recently, one can understand that he would have been focused on his family, and still may well be. Yet, one still wonders as Ralph himself is quite elderly. I hope he can find peace with his daughter Linda's passing and that he has many more years left to enjoy. An era is passing........
  18. IIRC, Kelly did work out for the Ravens and Marchibroda (i believe) convinced Jim it was time to hang them up.
  19. Nothing hypocritical there at all, Rush. I agreed with another's assessment, and still do, but as a man, despite diagreeing with his polictics/economics, I had tremendous respect for the man. A class act. Do you have trouble understanding that one can disagree with another, yet still admire and respect them? He had a heart as well, to which we all agree. Your oxycotin dealer is waiting for you at the corner....
  20. It was Thurman's bread and Butter because he had great vision, balance and patience. He knew when the follow and when to cut it up field. Lynch may be tougher, but he doesn't show the traits that made Thurman great, and great he was......
  21. I believe "stuffing the run" was the problem and the disagreement as well. McCargo appeared much more inclined to want to penetrate, thus not handling his duties assigned. Sam Adams was another who fit this mold.
  22. Yes he was.
  23. Wrong place for a political debate. Save this misguided, misinformed, and fear mongering thought for the political boards.
  24. Weight gain or not, I can seem to think of that as a bad thing....
