Nfl sunday ticket; Who's signing up?
Spiderweb replied to Clippers of Nfl's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The first year of the NFL Sunday Ticket, when it was on the old C-Band Big dish was $89.00. I've been a subscriber since it's inception, first with the big dish and then with DirecTV when they got the exclusive rights. I should have read a bit more to see if Fez had weighed in on this issue, but I can say at $315.00 they can pound salt. I'll be done. While DirecTV and the NFL screwed America numerous times already with their exclusive contracts, and the past 4-5 years with never ending increases, we must also understand that the NFL is equally to blame for these ridiculous increases in the cost of the Sunday ticket, as they are with most teams tickets prices. I'll still follow the Bills, but it will have to be via a different avenue. -
The O-line is a key component, but the QB is the the key. Tell Aaron Rodgers about needing good pass protection. Yet, despite all the hits he took last year, he personally still had a hell of a year for the Packers. Unless Brohm performs far better than anyone in Green Bay felt he could, or Edwards somehow rediscovers the balls he lost a season and a half ago, we're in trouble at QB. Fitz, while seemingly displaying the needed intangibles for being a solid QB, his scatter shot arm will leave him a mediocre QB at best (read....backup). While there's been some nice things written about Brown, lets face it, he's a 7th round pick. Odds are very much stacked against him. I sure hope he's the "lightning in the bottle", the sleeper everyone else missed on, but I'm not holding my breath.

What is right with the Buffalo Bills !!!!
Spiderweb replied to tonyjustbcuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...a hello !!! This is a Bills message board ....... If you're so witty, try to add to the conversation. One thing that makes me very optimistic is that the Bills have finally jettisoned the Tampa 2 style of DL's. When the Bills were tough on the oppositions running game, we had 700 + lbs shared between with our tackles. While we don't have this kind of size yet, I do expect to see a big improvement in stopping the run. If we manage to get a more consistent pass rush as well, fabulous. -
...and well he should. Congrats (and thanks) Boomer !!!!

"Suprise" seems to be...
Spiderweb replied to Buffalonian-at-Heart's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If it's 20 + pounds of muscle, then it's not "minimal". -
Hopefully he'll improve, but then Mark Kelso and Tony Greene (both effective safeties) were also not "tough" against the run. Heck, Tony Greene only weighed about 175 lbs. A FS can get by very effectively if they're great in pass defense. Hopefully, what we saw last year was more than numerous breaks coming his way. Your strong safety obviously has to be tough against the run more so than your FS.

I agree wholeheartedly. Dislike the man for his performance, fine. Yet, when it came to giving something back to the City, JP was there. Only a classless turd would belittle him for this. I too wish JP well and also wished that thing would have worked out better. in 2006 it did appear that he was putting it together and when 2007 came around, it all fell apart. Good luck JP.

After watching Kelsay fail for years. it's my hope he's shown the door. If it was tomorrow, that would not be too soon.

Felser: Armchair Bills analysts overdose on despair
Spiderweb replied to RI Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Realists around here are mostly pessimists or those who haven't a clue so they take the far easier road of negativity. A select few can express their their negative bias in an intelligent manner, but most grab the "easy" way out. A true Realist would leave room for a favorable surprise knowing that evaluating this team is not a science. Too many unknowns. -
I'd have to take exception to this statement. It's nothing but pure speculation. Further it shows both a lack of respect for Hansen as a player, and a lack of football acumen. Phil Hansen may not have been a superstar, but he was an excellent in the 3-4 and played equally well in 4-3 alignments when the Bills used them. If Carrington can even come close to Hansen, then he'll be a good addition, but the odds are against him. Not a knock on Carrington either, it's simply that many a DE entered the NFL, and many have left after not coming close to being the DE Hansen was.

If Brandon was still running the show (insted of Nix)

Modrak didn't invent the DB drafts for Buffalo, they've been doing it back to the days of JD Williams.... -
That's' the same understanding I have of it as well. No story here, move along now...

Fina gave a strong effort, but he simply was never any better than average at best. I will say that before injuries slowed him down later in his career, we was reasonably adapt at pulling and leading the counter trey. I believe that Peters has far more athletic ability, but it appears he is more than just lacking upstairs. Shame too, because had Peters been given a 10th of his physical ability to his brain, he could be great.

Great! Something positive.... His throwing motion does appear to be both more natural than Edwards' and seems to have a stronger arm, at least from the vids I've seen on him so far.

The lockout is coming, The lockout is coming!
Spiderweb replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While NKOTB analogy sucked, they and the NFL all all about entertainment. That is common ground. They both are businesses as well (money...). The Beatles, much more so over time by far, werea Big Business as well as entertainers. -

Illegal immigrants living in AZ
Spiderweb replied to Keukasmallies's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
You state "libs" as in meaning those (If I'm considered to be one, I accept willing) who find the Arizona law unconstitutional, fine. Yet I don't find immigration laws currently on the books being upheld or enforced so I don't have any problem with Arizona making an effort on their own. But please, this illegal immigration problem is not a "liberal" creation anymore than it's a neocon one. GOP likes the cheap labor (GWB, ...Hey, where's the workers?" Do you recall that beauty?) and the Democrats pursue their support. Both parties bear the blame on this one.... -

CBO scores the Senate Health Bill
Spiderweb replied to Magox's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The only thing that is pathetic is not to admit that we have a real health care problem, both in covering people (both with pre-existing conditions and those who simply cannot afford it), and the outrageous annual increases in cost. The plan we have now, a plan that has been reported on numerous times to be very similar to that of which both the Nixon and Regan administrations, simply may not accomplish cost reductions or containment desired. The "pathetic" fact is that our elected officials failed us. One party refused to take part, and the other basically tweaked previous administrations plans and passed it into law. I have been in the Import business for over 25 years and have extensive dealings with Canada and to a somewhat lesser degree, have had years of interactions with Great Britain, Germany, Japan, France, etc. Not once, in many discussions we've had at diners, lunches and personal moments, has a single one of my foreign colleagues or current/potential customers ever said they wished they had our system of health care. Not one single time. To them, health care reform for the USA is a no brainer and long overdue. Had health care form been successful back in 1939 (what I can find is the first serious attempt), we wouldn't be debating this today, nor would have uninsured or costs that are more than double that of our foreign neighbors. Yet then, as it still exists today, big business paid dearly to wreck anything that would infringe on it's unmitigated greed. Had long ago passed a real Heath Care plan, we could now be addressing the GOP penchant for accruing such massive year after year deficits that were put into play the past 30 years by the GOP's hero himself, the inventor of modern day deficit spending, Ronald Regan. We have dug such an abyss with the recession, poorly timed tax cuts by GWB that gave over 52% of it to the top 5% of income earners in this country, at a time we need more funds to pay for two wars begun under the GWB years. A country in which the top 1% in 1973 owned 8% of the USA to a now 23% today. Income shift? Socialism? Yes, but we gave it to the rich. Robin Hoods we aren't. And the illogical part of it all, millions of hard working folks, struggling wee to week have support all this, all while they were represented less and less by those they chose to elect. So get off your, "I take care of my own" pedestal. ....and if you think "business" holds all the answers, then you must have been sleeping while Enron raped, pillaged, and plundered your state before they imploded.
