Exactly. Montana did not possess a cannon, Brees isn't considered as a "cannon" armed QB. Adequate arm strength is required, which Fitz seems to have particularly when he can step into his throw. Like Flutie said many times before (queue the flames), being good QB is about making good decisions. I would say that Fitz's weaknesses are his inconsistent accuracy, followed by an occasional lack of good decision making. Despite his flaws, he does bring heart and desire and a considerable degree of fearlessness to the field.

After the bomb to Dubenion, we did little offensively the rest of the day and our D wasn't able to contain KC. It was a bad loss. It also marked the first Bills game I watched from kickoff to finish.

I don't disagree that the loss of Schobel has hurt what little pass rush we've had the past few years, but teams weren't living in fear of our pass rush last year either. Byrd still has been a disappoint to date this year. He's been badly out of position and also beaten badly on a number of plays.

Actually 5 or 6 serious playmakers with fill around them would likely do the trick. We thought we had a playmaker in Byrd, but he has been very disappointing this year so far.

I too believe Corner's elbow did come down in the end zone, but you bring up a good point, and that is that Boldin was out of bounds with Corner on top of him (contact) before the elbow came down. What I still don't believe about that play is how in the world did the ref's let the pass interference escape them. Boldin clearly had a firm grip on Corner's right arm. It was right there in front of them. That's what was the horrible call.

How about simply sending Maybin out to local Buffalo job fairs? I'm sure he's physically gifted enough to work in a warehouse somewhere.

How in the world does another draftee's failure give the Bills any form of a silver lining (however slight) regarding Maybin? That is, unless you're promoting "misery loves company".

I agree as well. Sure, the Raven may have thought it would be an easier week, but the Bills came out quickly and the Raven found themselves in a dog fight (offensively anyway). I believe KC will be prepared and their run game really concerns me, especially since our run D has been so bad. The again, our pass defense hasn't been there this year either. I wonder how much the new schemes and DC have played into this...

Howard held his own, got beat more than a few times, but no "olay" type errors, and stayed clean penalty wise. In short, he was light years better than Green. Bell actually played fairly well. All in all, a large portion of the improvement came from Fitz himself. Quick decisions, little hesitancy in his throws and a very solid game plan, especially in the passing game. Quick releases can make a O-Line's day so much easier.

Except that Johnson twice did the woosie thing at the end of two longer runs after the catch. Absolutely hated how he timidly just stepped out of bounds. Was he winded? Out of shape? He's no Andre.........not close, not ever, which isn't to say he can't become a decent WR, but he should never be mentioned in the same breath as Andre.

Frankly, I haven't heard much at all about a change in rookie pay scales except speculation here and there. I do agree that if there was one in place that limited (reduced) what rookies could get, it would definitely make the top choices in the draft more valuable in terms of trade-down opportunities, etc. Alas, I suspect there must be a zillion agents willing to spend considerable sums to lobby against any "Rookie Cap". Has anyone heard anything from the NFLPA regarding their position on rookie caps?

Piss on "moral" victories. As a long term Bills fan, we've had more than enough of these over the decades.

Franchise QB? OK, he had a pretty darned good game, but those two picks he also threw (and at least two others that should have been picked), were huge! I like the way he plays the game, his mobility, his moxy, his guts, yet the crowd cheering him now will call for his neck when he reverts back to his inconsistency with his accuracy. Great throw, mediocre throw, "where the hell was he throwing that" throw, etc. Sunday, he made far more good plays than bad, but again, those two picks were huge, just as the two picks he threw against the Pats were. I'll agree he's our best current option, but with Fitz, it will be a love/hate relationship for most.

Overall, I would agree with Bill (good to see your game day thoughts again). While not quite ready to blast Spiller into oblivion, I am a bit concerned with his continually bouncing his runs to the outside when it's obvious to all that he needs to cut it up field and take the 2, 3, or so yards available. He might even break one as well. I want to see a bit more run toughness from him.......

While Steve has had some numbers of late, I believe David Nelson will make the better #2. One things for sure, our WR's sure look better when they have a QB willing and able to throw to them (one last knock on the checkdown King Trentative...).

One thing he needs to learn (and fast) is that the NFL players are so much faster and better than his former college competition and his continually bouncing everything out side is not going to work. He needs to recognize that there will be many times where simply cutting it back up filed and taking the 2-3 yards available is the best option. Heck, Fred shines at this so he's got a great teacher to watch. Spiller seems to run a bit more tentatively than one would like as well. I sure hope he comes around and not become just another John Avery type.

Problem is that the Bills have shown virtually no interest in big time FA's since Donahoe was fired. We only signed second, maybe even third, tier FA's.

He got beat 4-5 times that I saw, but none where the crowd would have shouted, "Olay".... Seems far more athletic than Green, that's a given. His development may be the main reason Wang is being worked at Guard now. Howard may be starting for a while as long as he continues to develope.

Mike Williams was a RT who was protecting Chris Sims (southpaw) blind side at Texas. He was projected as playing RT initially and then switch to LT. Despite some encouraging games in his first two years with the Bills, he seemed lazy and began his rapid decent to a first round bust. Blast the Bills brass all you want, but he was widely held around the league as a top talent coming out of Texas........
