Nice, I like that. With that said, it makes way too much sense and will never happen (I guess that makes me a pessimist).

Mark Sanchez is screwed
Spiderweb replied to Tim Anderson's Lunch Pail's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're too polite. It was the damn defense that won those games. The 99 version of Flutie was a distant second to the 98 version. Once defenses caught up with him, it was one batted down throw after another. What many forget is that our O-Line was pretty dismal and both Fina and Hicks were pretty banged up. Fina couldn't finish the game and Hicks who missed much of the first half and came into the game injured, gutted it out in the second half when his backup was getting toasted by Kearse. Had we won that game, our O-line may have consisted of Curley, Larry, and Moe.... -
Hummmm... I seem to recall a playoff game against Miami (98 season) in which Ruben Brown had to practically beg Jennings to suck it up stay on the field after he got one of his infamous dings. He was a talented player who was made of glass. His heart was not on his list of positives either.

TBN: Bills / Peters ~$3 M apart - Peters wants over $11.5 M
Spiderweb replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jake long had a better year. Look at Peters sacks allowed and it took him 4/3 of the season to offer any value in the run game as well. I fact, I'd take Long over Peters, hands down. 11.5 Mil is really off base. In fact the entire NFL payscale is off base. -
If we draft a DE or LB in the first....
Spiderweb replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Denny, was clearly our best (even if this isn't saying much) DE last year. To me, Kelsay is the far greater liability, talent wise and salary wise. Schobel is now at the age where players slow down, and with him coming off the foot injury that who knows if it healed or can withstand the stress, we better get ready to get some help at DE. When Denny, who is a solid backup player, is your best DE, it's time to make some moves. We need DE help, and I'm a firm believer that Chris Ellis isn't it. He was routinely buried by the opposition in the little time he got to play last year. He needs to get a whole lot stronger of his career could (and maybe should) be a very short one. -
Pace, who was once a great LT, is a broken down shell of his former self. Great career, but its time to ride off into the sunset big guy.

Clayton: Bills talking with LeCharles Bentley
Spiderweb replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Site won't accept the link, but over at the "range", there's a thread about LeCharles Bentley who was said to have stated on ESPN News that the Bills are a team he'd like to play for and said recently on Sirrius Radio that he was healed and ready to go. Hummm......... Could be? Nah....not likely....yet......trying to find links.......(ESPN) -
Sadly, that was the last big play, or a decent play from Hardy for the remainder of the year.

Carucci: Only Trent's 2nd Year as a starter...

A TBD request for an ESPN.com post

Just contributed as well. While I didn't like the signing at first, it is beginning to make sense in a number of ways. Hopefully, they will prevail and not the self destructive nature of TO. -
40 years? Maybe, but after 1966 season (early 1967), the Bills trade Lamonica for a washed up Art Powell, and QB with a blown arm (Flores) ranks much higher in my memory. All TO costs us at this point is cash. No comparison. How about trading Ron McDole, Tom Keating, or letting Pat Williams walk. I won't even get into some of our famous daft picks, but Williams wasn't our worst, just our most clostly. Nah, I would admit I don't like the signing but it is far from the worst player move the Bills have ever made.

Have we been too hard on ourselves as not to dream??
Spiderweb replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
...that and I just can't get past the car comment. -
Sadly, this train has left the station. Yet, of those (LB's) still available, I would take Crowell first in a heartbeat (assuming he passes the physical, of course).

Strictly from a X's and O's standpoint
Spiderweb replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
....and since you brought up the running game, it's time to get something done for Fred Jackson, contract wise. -
At TO's age, he doesn't get anything more than a 1-2 years deal max. When one combines his track record, only a few "stupid" teams would have been willing to consider him. Yep, we are one of the few. Yet, from the Bills perspective, this gives Hardy a break in not being pressured to return before he's healed and ready. In fact, I'd be surprised if he isn't on the PUP to begin the season.
-
Well, depending where one searches, I came up with a range of 6'5" to 6'7" just moments a ago.... At 6'4", he sure does seem to be shrinking....
-
There's no ingenuity in stating Reed will be in consideration for no longer being a Bill. Adding a doubt doesn't change it. Reed is clearly the second best receiver on this team, and in the clutch, he's actually been our best receiver..... jeez....
-
TO isn't a route running WR folks.... This also isn't a WR who will go hard over the middle. He is a WR, who knows how to use his size to his advantage against CB's, but he's still the biggest POS in the league, and now I have to root for this bastage....
-
I don't feel that Coles would have offered all that much more, but you're right about the few more years and Coles is a very solid possession receiver who can hurt a defense from time to time as well, without being a total POS like TO.
-
Sure, everyone else will forget by then what a POS he is and they'lll be lining up to sign a 36 year old WR. I surely wanted Buffalo to help themselves this off season, but what is this? On second thought, didn't our Bills begin their run in the late 80's by becoming the bickerling Bills. Back then, it took young stars in the making like Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Smith, etc., to get it started. Maybe TO will be able to get it going all by himself........ Hate the signing, no matter what TO may have left in the tank. I just don't see this working. Let's just see what this board thinks of TO when he drops his usual 2 passes a game...... The more I think about it, the more I hate this signing.

Why all the love for Brian Waters?
Spiderweb replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hummm....here we go again. Ruben was a far greater player than you or many others are willing to give him credit for. Plus he was (and probably still is a great guy). His blowup during his last year in Buffalo was long overdue. Ruben may not have made every play, and towards the end of his time in Buffalo, he seemed to be getting beat more often by big strong tackles, but he was overall, far better than any guard we've had since. In fact, before him, we had the likes of Lacina, Crofts, Parker, etc. Ruben was a very good, if not great player.....
