1. You honestly think any NFL team would tank a season just so they could have a shot at drafting a college player? Even if the kid was guaranteed to be a hall of fame player in the NFL there's no guarantee he'd stay healthy - what happens if he ends up like Willis in the Fiesta Bowl? No way is the draft a factor in Manning's injury. The only factor impacting his return other than his recovery is the fate of the team - if there's nothing to play for an the season is lost for the Colts they might be even more apt to hold him out longer - why risk any further injury to your star if the team isn't going anywhere?
2. This is the one I particularly liked as a response: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rtg03n9YIF0&feature=related
3. No, the magnitude of chaos that would ensure has been reserved for The Rapture.....
4. Tell me about it - according to Leviticus 11 my kids aren't even supposed to have that pet rabbit - what type of sicko religion doesn't allow bunnies?
5. Whew....as long as we're OK and just lands on little Zumfofo (or maybe his entire village) I'm cool with that - bad stuff happens all the time in the third world - if you're not dying of ameobic dysentery a sattelite is falling on your head - as long as it doesn't screw up my DirecTv.........
6. Thankfully finding a punter on short notice is next to impossible. With all the conditioning they have to do where are they going to be able to find anyone in near enough game shape to punt if they need to - victory is ours!
7. Here's the TRULY brilliant part of the plan - the Bills have actually tanked the last 15 games - that's 8 seasons, lulling New England into a false sense of security. That, my friend, is a monument to self restraint and dedication to laying the trap properly. We almost sprung the trap too early but then Leodis fumbled - brilliant! That's what first round picks do to earn the big money, friends. Man, when we spring like a hungry tiger this weekend and beat them they won't know what hit 'em. Yes indeed, 8 long years waiting for this moment - it'll all be worth it because our record will be a proud 1-15 (although I could actually see them playing 'possum for another 10 meetings or so, just to make extra sure we have the element of surpise firmly nailed down)........
8. To top it all off I just read that they failed to secure the Twitter handle "@Qwikster" - the guy that owns that evidently like to send tweets with select 4-letter words and his avatar is Elmo smoking a joint - man, the marketing department at Netflix/Qwikster sure is on top of things, huh? Thank God Osama Bin Laden is dead or they'd probably be signing him up as a spokesperson - "hey, he's got name recognition through the roof!".
9. I have never seen anyone blow it this badly. When they made the switch and raised rates people were extra pissed off that it was poorly communicated and spun as a good thing when it clearly wasn't. So a million people left, the stock fell 16% in a day and I get the e-mail this morning. It starts off with the CEO admitting he screwed up, but then proceeds to tell me the solution is to split things up and change the name. It'll also mean that I have to go to 2 different sites that will not be connected to each other for managing queues, ratings, etc. - a real pain, but the CEO again tells me this is all a good thing. Really? A friggin name change and 2 sites for me to manage is your apology and solution? Glad you didn't go into medicine with solutions like that ("he was having a heart attack so we felt it was appropriate to apply leaches to his forehead - it will do amazing things for his complexion"). Tip for the Netflix/Quickster senior management - the next time you get the urge to communicate a bad idea to your entire customer base via e-mail and spin it as a good thing, DON'T - shut your damn pie hole before you lose another million subscribers. You seriously have to wonder about any company that got burned sending and spinning an e-mail to their customers "apologizing" to those customers by sending and spinning another e-mail - insanity..
10. Terms of Endearment was pretty damn depressing when Derra Winger is dying from cancer and has to say goodbye to her little boys - brutal. Overall depressing movie has to be Wit starring Emma Thompson as a lonely english professor slowly dying of cancer and realizing that she really never had any close relationships in her entire life. Dying of cancer is depressing, but doing so from the perspective of someone who realizes that they never really lived or experience that which makes us human - that's tops in my book for depressing.
11. Sure there have been some staggering losses by the Bills - where they literally could have done just about ANYTHING other than what they did and pulled out a victory (The Dallas MNF game, the McFumble against the Pats) but when you step back those would have been some great wins but for the final score. The low point has to be when you lose to a team you had no business losing to - you just somehow just managed to be worse than they were - that game was the 2009 game aginst Cleveland. Worst football ever and the only thing we succeded in was being the worst team on the field. Dick Jauron was coach and he was obviously in way over his head. Players didn't care. Front office said nothing. Nobody cared, nobody was accountable for that level of utter garbage we as fans were asked to happily swallow. It's about that time that it really hit me - while the Bills would LIKE to win (who doesn't?) they certainly weren't going to do much to make it happen. Win a handful of games? Good enough. Maintain a certain number of fans? Good enough. Didn't matter that there was a huge dearth of talent on the roster. Didn't matter that the absolute clowns responsible for fielding such a team - coaches, scouts, front office kept their jobs and it was business as usual - the silence was deafening. Really felt like I had all this passion as a fan and I was loving something that didn't love me back - it simply didn't care. I stopped going to Bills games. I stopped getting that attached. I still root for the team and cheer like hell but I understand better now that the Bills aren't really in it to win it - they are there to be there. It's sad, but it makes 4-12 seasons and the losses on Sunday easier to take now that I can see things through this lens - but damn if that ain't a sad state of affairs.
12. Yatil Green 2.0........
13. Yes - this week his name is in green, not red
14. How do you put a game up on the board before one of the teams has played their week 1 game? What about injuries?
15. Most encouraging is that we won - we have that monkey off our back. Starting 0-8 last year messed with players' heads - they didn't know how to win and it fed off of itself - we don't have that problem after today.
16. 2008 people, 2008. We started 5-1 and everyone was so giddy we didn't notice that they extended Dick Jauron :
17. Exactly. A good drive ends in a touchdown, not a field goal.
18. Someone needs to get her a copy of that book, "He's Just Not That Into You"........
19. Wow - looks like everyone has the Bills scoring at least 1 touchdown - considering how much trouble we've had actually finishing off a drive with 7 points and no major upgrades to the offense I'm thinking that could be optimistic..... Chiefs 24 Bills 9
20. My monitor looked like that once - a different weird pattern on each side - then smoke came out of it and it died - hope the same thing happens to those uniforms.
21. Never too early to start on HGH or The Clear if he needs size - I understand Pop Warner doesn't screen for these things (yet)..... Seriously - congrats - that's got to be great sitting in the stands watching as a proud dad.......
22. Can we be far from having lard injected right into our hearts at the county fair? "Step right up folks - we have high quality lard rendered from bacon fat and nice sharp needles - you're gonna love it" mmmmmmm.......baaaccccoooonnn and neeeeedless.........
23.

Exhibit A: Leodis McKelvin - yet another first round pick who really isn't even starter quality - he wouldn't even make some other teams but he starts for us -the burn unit already has a bed waiting for him after the season starts
24. That gave me a good laugh
25. After he missed that kick you had to know they were going to give their other FG kicker a chance to win it - looks like Lindell earned the job...... To be fair it looks like it is an Australian news site and you could probably dig up some U.S. articles that horribly mangle the results of various cricket matches......
