His estate is $50,000? Wow - after the burial costs you'd have money to buy a whole iPad - no wonder they are fighting over it as the poor guy sits in the fridge for months....

Thankfully he never uses the stiffarm and Fitz's accuracy is pinpoint. Oh, wait.......

Right. And the reduced pension funding is something the league has already imposed on some of its full time employees, making it hard to make an exception for 120 part timers. In the end, I think ego factors heavily into this dispute. On the one side you have the owners, who are a group of powerful billionaires and they are going up against 120 part time employees. Powerful billionaires hate to lose or feel like someone has gotten over on them, especially part time employees. If it weren't for this dynamic I'm not sure it would have ever gotten to this.

Luckily Maybin is about the same size as most NFL CBs, so he should be able to slot right in....

Its going to get worse before it gets better

This week was a test - the Bills failed and failed miserably. Test #2 is next week - if they fail that one as well I really think the season will be lost as far as going to the playoffs - it'll start yet another death spiral the Bills always seem to have..... -

BIgger Disappointment: Defense or Fitz

If you're stunned that Fitz was inaccurate and late with his throws you haven't been watching the Bills much. Sometimes you get lucky and he looks really sharp, but it's been a while since we saw that - he's generally looked like a backup since mid 2011. The defensive line - an all pro addition in Mario, a Pro Bowler in Anderson, Dareus with 1 more year's experience and help from linemates and the return of a healthy Kyle Williams coming up with a grand total of 3 tackles, 1 assist, 1 pressure and ZERO sacks against an o-line featuring a guy making his 2nd NFL start - that's shocking, in a soyilent green is people kind of way.... -
Replacement Refs Sucked Last Night
The Avenger replied to voodoo poonani's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought it was funny that they kept using college signals rather than NFL signals - a couple of times they called a delay of game penalty and the ref crossed his arms across his chest rather than stacking his forearms in front of him - not a big deal but if these guys are going to be in the NFL for awhile they should switch to NFL signals.... -
Opening Season Rituals. Got Any?
The Avenger replied to RevWarRifleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but anything any of us have been doing recently should probably be thrown out as ineffective - it's been more than a decade since we saw the payoffs (the exception might be that ball kicking thing). -

And the most amazing perk - he didn't have to turn off all electronics during takeoff - the camera kept going... -
Love Wilfred - one of my favorites. I agree that season 1 was better than this second season has been, but still solid. The episode where Ryan relents and lets Wilfred on the beach is great.

Or he may have to run for his life to avoid all the other bodies coming off the bandwagon after a few weeks of the regular season - I've certainly seen plenty of that - folks that are convinced THIS is finally the year and that the Bills are going to win an absolute minimum of 10 games - they tend to get extremely depressed when the Bills lose 3 in a row and sink into mediocrity. Look, it's fun to be excited about the upcoming season - kudos to all who partake and enjoy in that exercise. But don't blast folks who are actually waiting to see the proverbial baby that Buddy talks about. It's too early to get down on the Bills, but by the same token this whole thread thanking Buddy is premature - we are thanking him for assembling a team that hasn't done anything yet. Yeah, on paper it looks like the organization has made some solid moves, but are we still going to be singing buddy's praises 5 years from now if the Bills never crack 8 wins and some big name acquisitions fall well short of expectations? The fact that the Bills still have a healthy fanbase after the past decade plus is amazing, but eventually you have to give the fans some real results....

The dinner scene with Jesse trying to play it cool and make smalltalk (and try and crawl up into his water glass to get away) was fantastic - had me rolling - absolutely brilliant by Aaron Paul... -

Under 21 may not have a causal relationship to being stupid and reckless, but it does have a correlation - any of the auto insurance actuarial tables will show you that - I tend to believe those - insurance companies are pretty good and crunching those numbers. -

The problem is really the place of alcohol in society. Alcohol is a drug - one with mind-altering effects, but it is socially acceptable. What's more, abuse of alcohol is or has become socially aceptable. Getting drunk isn't viewed as having a drug problem, it's seen as something everyone does - heck, it's seen as a right of passage. If you're someone who binge drinks in college you're not a person with a drug problem, you're just someone who parties and has a rep like Belushi in Animal House - people might even admire you for that. Truth is, if you look at almost any form of problem in society - crime, violence, accidents - you'll see that alcohol is a magnifying factor. Given society's view of alcohol and its use/abuse, it's no wonder many people don't have the maturity to use it responsibly. Until society changes its views on alcohol I believe lowering the drinking age will make the problem worse, not better - too many immature people using a legal drug. -
Underage Drinking Sting at the Ralph
The Avenger replied to Tolstoy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't have a problem with this at all. Sadly, most underage drinkers I've encountered in a public setting such as a game have been beyond wasted. It seems to be some sort of requirement that i you're too young to drink legally that when you do get your hands on something to drink you have to go completely overboard, make a total ass of yourself, cause problems, start fights and be a danger to yourself or those around you (if not a danger, a really anoying person to be around). I'd be ok if some of these kids could have a few pops and keep it under control, but that seems to be too much to ask from what I've seen. On top of all of this you figure a good number of these kids drove to the game and would be way too stupid to stop from getting behind the wheel completely blitzed, and I'm rooting for the cops on this one - go get 'em! -

I don't think Walt wants to threaten her. The way I see it, he wants to have his normal happy family just like he used to have, just also having lots of money and power to go with it. I think he's deluded himself into thinking he can do almost anything, but what he doesn't realize is that he's never going to have his family back the way he used to - too much has happened and there's no going back. -
I agree that the Bills haven't shown anything yet - it's all based on what they look like on paper. Considering none of the other teams have played a game, their ranking should also be based on what they look like on paper rather than what they've done on the field. If you're doing comparisons based on what teams look like on paper I don't see how the Bills are as low as 17 - 16 other teams look better on paper?
