Biggest Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Snubs
The Avenger replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Kind of funny - some of those bands thrive on the fact that they have had little to no help from the mainstream music establishment. Slayer never got any commercial radio airplay, nor did they get big marketing support to push their albums - they enjoyed being "underground", so the thought of them suddenly receiving this type of mainstream recognition is funny. I know Ozzy felt this way about Sabbath getting in - almost like not wanting to be part of any club that would have you as a member.... -
Bills will wear new red unis vs jets
The Avenger replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On a positive note, maybe having our QB wear a red jersey will cause some hesitation in the quarterback being hit - would be great in week 1 when the red "no hit" connection was fresher..... -
New theory is that the suicide was a dream sequence because Nicholas had run out of bullets - interesting.....

Final TD hold against Hughes
The Avenger replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was screaming "where's the holding flag? at the TV on that play - it was so obvious - Hughes got turned around it was so bad.... -
Only 1 game out of wildcard
The Avenger replied to dascottbills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I admire the optimism of some folks, but here's some reality: It is extremely unlikely that 9-7 will get you a wildcard spot - over the past 10 seasons, only 7 teams at 9-7 or worse have won a wildcard spot (17.5%). Some years even 10 wins does get you in. If we assume 10 wins for a spot, look at the remaining schedule and show me how the Bills finish up the rest of the season at 7-2. NE @ NE is almost certainly a loss - show me which other game the Bills lose and they need to win the rest - those are some long odds (although Jim Carey might say, "So you're saying I still have a chance"). -
Ran the Yahoo Sports app on my tablet and casted to my Chromecast on my 55" TV. Video quality was good but about 10 times during the game it just froze, recovered, then skipped ahead to catch up, leaving me to miss some plays (like the 4th down goal line stop). Not being able to pause/rewind and record for later viewing were major negatives for me. I pay an arm and a leg for Sunday Ticket, so to have to watch the game like this was maddening....

[closed]Sunday Ticket Question
The Avenger replied to The Real Buffalo Joe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
DTV does not have the rights to the game - it will not be on The Ticket -
Gotta admit - I was pretty worried about beating Jax this week with all the injuries, but now that Gay is back I think we win the game running away - bet the house on Buffalo!

London game will be streamed on Yahoo
The Avenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Screen size of the device running the casting app has nothing to do with the quality of the picture on the TV. The key is that the app needs to be designed for casting because casting video running in a browser tab looks terrible. The Sunday Ticket app is designed to cast and I can cast it from my phone to a 55" TV and it actually looks pretty good. My concern is that Yahoo generally doesn't support casting, but they say they will for this game - I hope they're right. -
Yes, but within B&W they tried to show relative time based on the bandages - neat idea, but I found the execution to be pretty funny when you stopped to look at it....
-
Thought it was hilarious how they tried to show points in time using the bandages on Rick's face - the further back in time, the more bandages he had - he started out with about 20 bandages and then as time progressed he had less and less. The funny thing was that while some cuts completely healed (couldn't see anything), others still needed bandages, all from the same fight. Good idea, but I think they tried a little too hard to tell time using all the bandages.

Wow - I've been able to see all the games on local TV in Boston - should have waited on Sunday Ticket and maybe gotten it later at a bigger discount.

Bryce Brown works out for Pats
The Avenger replied to Buffaloed in Pa's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like they are using him for playbook info/coaches signals...... -
Clearly the board is being taken over by *pats fans
The Avenger replied to Estelle Getty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lest anyone forget, in 2006 we had an incredible opening day blowout win against the Patriots....and promptly finished 6-10. I'm all for big wins, but you have to sustain it a bit longer to get true believers...... -
Exactly! I guess unless an action is specifically called out as an infraction with a predefined penalty it's OK - so giving material aid to ISIS, unless expressly forbidden and with a proscribed penalty is OK - anything goes! I understand this is how criminal law works (here in MA last summer they caught a guy taking pictures up women's skirts but had to let him go because there was no statute against it - fastest I've ever seen a new law hit the books afterwards), but this is an agreed upon CBA, not criminal law.

My understanding was that the judge had to rule on whether the CBA allowed the process/punishment that was given, not whether it was fair. The players agreed to the CBA and they were thinking much more about money than anything else at the time it was put in place - the disciplinary powers of the league were an afterthought. I just don't understand how a judge steps in and essentials says, "yeah, the players agreed to this system and the powers given to the commissioner, but it's not really fair and I don't like the way Brady was treated". The question should be about whether the league had the power to do what it did under the CBA or not, not whether the agreed upon system was inherently fair. It that sense I think it's a pretty dangerous ruling - you don't have to be bound by a CBA if it is later ruled unfair, even if you agreed to it initially.

If they start Cassel they need to win right away. If fans see losses and boring, vanilla dink and dunk qb play it'll look pretty much like the last 15 years and we're all pretty tired of that. Start Tyrod, if we lose at least we got some excitement and can always pull him and then go to Cassel. If we start Cassel I don't see him getting replaced for being too conservative.

A good waffle recipe - one that uses egg whites - creates a waffle that has a great crispness on the outside and is very light on the inside. Love it with real butter and grade B real maple syrup. I love the grade B - darker, much more intense maple flavor that the grade A amber or light amber. Also, as a beekeeper, I can tell you that waffles with fresh honey straight from the hive is incredible - you get all the flowery notes from honey that hasn't been heated to nearly boiling during processing - that kills all the natural flavors and all you get is sweet - yuck!

Possible trouble for Brandon Spikes; released by Pats
The Avenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
On the 11th news in Boston last night Anthony Miller reported the story, pointing out that although Spikes currently plays for the Patriots, last season he played for "the underrated and frankly, under appreciated Buffalo Bills". I stopped and re watched to make sure I had heard that correctly, then looked up Anthony Miller on Google - a Buffalo native. Score one for us. -
Sadly I don't think this situation is going to change because the precedent has already been set - I understand last year's London game that started early in the morning was not on DTV, so I don't see how this year is going to be any different. For those folks wondering what the fuss is about, you either live in the local market where you'll see it on TV or you have tremendous faith in the ability of Yahoo. I hope this works - I really do, but I have a long list of concerns: - Inability of the system to support the viewership - how many times have you seen something streamed on the Internet that looks good and has no issues with buffering, pixylization, etc.? Yes, sports have been broadcast on the Internet before, but never as an exclusive for such a big event. Providers know (or should know) the size of their audience if they are only broadcasting to people who are subscribing to an event. Even if the event is not subscription, if there's another way to watch it (i.e. - TV broadcast), it's going to greatly reduce the number of people watching online. The Bills Jags game is not subscription and anyone who watches (outside of the local markets) MUST use Yahoo to see it. - Inability to pause/record/watch later - I don't know about you, but I frequently pause the game and go back to watch something again. i also like to record it so I can go back and re-watch later - neither appeears to be an option with Yahoo. - TV vs. Computer - I have a nice 55" TV in my living room - it's where I want to watch the game, not on my desktop or laptop on a small screen. Hooking the TV up to the Internet is a pain, and if the video quality is poor it's actually going to look worse on a big screen. I pay for Sunday Ticket so I can hav an HD feed to my TV for every game, can pause/rewind and record it and watch it later - I don't get any of this with the Yahoo model.

London game will be streamed on Yahoo
The Avenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not the distance from the game, it's the number of systems requesting a stream. In a subscription model this can work - you know how many people are subscribed and can figure out what the demand will be (and even then people often don't project correctly and make the system too small). With this being open to the general public - anyone who has any interest in watching the game or taking part in this great "experiment" will be watching and I have a terrible feeling the back end infrastructure isn't going to handle the load. The folks who end up getting hosed are the fans like us sitting in front of their computers and watching them buffer with no other option to see the game - it'll be great.
