Buried an old friend today.
The Avenger replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Sorry to hear about this. Pets are family - losing one can certainly feel like it. Great to hear that she was 13 - I honestly didn't think very large dogs like that lived that long - that seems like a pretty long life for almost any dog, let alone a very large breed like a St. Bernard. -
I think you just figured out what the documentary is really about....

I was pretty scared when I started watching it that they would actually show some of this stuff, it would be burned into my mind forever and I'd have to turn it off (I had the remote at the ready). You know what he did but you don't see anything graphic - they take you right to the line (at least my line). It reminded me of Schindler's List - you certainly understood the brutality and inhumanity and there were some graphic parts but you are shielded from the most graphic. That scene where they all herded into he showers and you think, there's no way they're going to show this, right? I mean Spielberg's a great director and I can take a lot of stuff but there's absolutely no way I can watch that - I'm closing my eyes and walking out, only to find water comes out and these really are showers. (I hope nobody take offense at this comparison - I am comparing the movies, not equating cats to Holocaust victims).

Wow - that takes me back! I'm a metal guy but when I did college radio back in the day I'd sometimes find myself needing to fill some time (usually before throwing to a hockey broadcast) and I'd have to play some non-metal stuff. This song was in rotation and one that I kind of liked so I'd always play it - got so that everyone knew who was engineering the broadcast when they heard this song come on....

Love Prong - just heavy and grinding. Tommy Victor used to be the the sound guy at CBGB back in the day. I had a chance to hang out with him and have some drinks after the Clash of the Titans show IN NYC in 1991 - pretty cool dude.

Checkout the movie - cats are just the starting point - it gets more insane as the story progresses....

Disturbing is a massive understatement

Absolutely insane documentary on Netflix called Don't F with Cats....all I can say is wow after being sucked in to watching all 3 parts (about 3 hours in total). No spoilers but this is a documentary that you can't believe isn't just some sick Hollywood movie. It starts with a sicko posting a movie on the Internet of him killing kittens (you don't see the movie) that launches a campaign by average netizens to find him and bring him to justice and just gets crazier and crazier. Although you don't see any if the deeply disturbing videos in graphic detail they are described so if you have a tough time with even grasping such dark behavior you might want to pass. If you can handle it this is a really strong documentary - it's got a lot of people talking.

Having Heart Bypass Surgery Monday Ugh
The Avenger replied to TSNBDSC's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Good luck! I'm sure you're in great hands but I certainly understand how scary this can be. My son (now 15) has had 3 major open heart surgeries and each time he went in it was terrifying even though we knew he had the best doctors in the world. Get your rest after the surgery - you have no idea how much rest you body needs after gong through surgery. It can be frustrating trying to heal as quickly as possible but take it as it comes and don't fight it! -
Week 15: Bills at Steelers on SNF
The Avenger replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bad memories indeed. Parker and Tommy Maddox. Bills were win and in and Pittsburgh was resting their starters. In Buffalo the Bills went into the 4th with the lead but gave up 13 points and lost by 5. One of the worst losses in a history of bad losses and the reason I'm not so thrilled that everyone seems so confident about this current "beat Pittsburgh and you're in" game.... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200501020buf.htm -
Rational Thoughts Day After Dolphins Game
The Avenger replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Josh takes the next step when he starts hitting the long ball. He's got the arm but he isn't connecting on any of the long plays where the receiver has beat his man. If he starts to make those (and I think many can be for touchdowns) he'll be scoring more points, making defenses respect that long pass ability and get him to the next step (and as I fan it will be sweet to watch him connect on those bombs!). -
Man, living here I am so sick of hearing about "the Patriot Way" - absolutely nobody here had any problems with AB possibly being responsible for any sort of violence against a woman, something the NFL doesn't really care much about but knows it has to have zero tolerance since Ray Rice. I think the Pats* thought they would get a talented player who they could get to cooperate because it was his shot at a ring and screw what others thought.....until it got just a bit too hot. They miscalculated thinking it wouldn't get any worse than the single instance of he said she said they knew about and could not be criminally prosecuted, but it got bigger so they finally had to cut ties....

Do you know anyone that doesn’t like pizza?
The Avenger replied to Another Fan's topic in Off the Wall Archives
My late Father In Law was from Denmark where he didn't eat pizza growing up - just a lot of very bland, boiled food (I joke that the salt/pepper set is a Danish spice rack). When he came to America there were some things he didn't like that most people do - he disliked tomato sauce and melted cheese (loved his Havarti, just not melted). Not liking tomato sauce and melted cheese meant he didn't like pizza - only person I ever knew that didn't like it. -
Greatest prank of all time
The Avenger replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Craziest one I saw was this elevator prank - you could seriously kill someone by giving them a heart attack with this prank.... -
Wow - been a customer for 15 years and got treated like total garbage today. Had a service appt scheduled between noon and 4pm - even got texts confirming this morning. 4pm comes, nobody has shown up and I've wasted my afternoon. Call and am told there was some sort of error - no visit today and needs to be rescheduled - I am LIVID. Best I can do is next Saturday. When I ask what they are going to do for me he offers me $20 credit - if I could have pulled him through the phone and beaten him I would have, Customer loyalty said they would credit $48 but they could not do anything else. Went on Twitter to complain and if I don't get better compensation for my loyalty and wasted time all my equipment is going with the tech when he shows up next week - I am so pissed right now I can't even believe it. People are getting this stuff for free and they won't do it for me even after treating me like garbage.

Yeah - that Brady guy is always taking the snap and making the quick short pass to a guy like Edelman - anybody can do that. Dude is nothing more than a dime a dozen hack.

I have twins and the early days are a challenge, but really no worse than a lot of other people who have multiple small kids in the house (i.e. - a 2 year old and a newborn). It starts to get crazy when you get outnumbered though, especially when they are at an age where they can get around on their own (crawling/walking) and need to be protected from absolutely everything because they have no sense of danger. There's almost no way you could do 4 without lots of support from family and friends - I hope they have a good supply of that! Congrats to Jeremy and family!

TBD always did a great job of finding Bills news on the Internet and posting links every morning - no need to hunt for all the various news stories. The the Rochester D&C HyperBills message board imploded - things got out of hand and it needed to be moderated and the D&C didn't want to pay someone to do that so it just went away. To fill the void I suggested Scott start a message board to augment what he was doing and I fear this is when his life made a fateful turn - he was now THE MAN for all this stuff. Great help from mods and senior people over the years and I'm happy SDS has not been institutionalized for taking on such an project....

England played a heck of a game - that Ellen White is a great player

HUGE save - damn....

That's the type of call you see in a Bills vs. Pats game

Gary Clark Jr. I just stumbled across this guy as he was a guest on SNL and was pretty blown away. Rock/Blues guitar player in the mold of the Vaugn brothers (he played with them as he was developing as a young artist). Reminds me very much of Hendrix - just letting the music flow out of him via his guitar effortlessly. I'm generally a metal guy, but I really like this guy - just ordered a few albums....

Knee replacement. How many here have gone through it?
The Avenger replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
In Jan 2015 the ADA revised it guidelines and said that prophylactic antibiotics are not recommended prior to dental procedures and only certain subpopulations should take them as a precaution. I stopped taking them - I think antibiotics are way overused.... -
Knee replacement. How many here have gone through it?
The Avenger replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I had my left knee done 7 years ago and my right knee done the following year (and I'm only 49). I had some pain but it was managable - initially on Oxycontin (wonderful drug when used correctly), but tried to shed that drug as soon as I could in favor of non-narcotics. I have found that the replacement and rehab experience varies incredibly from person to person - I think both of mine when very well but I have certainly heard of people who had considerable issues with pain. Best advice would be to work closely with your doctor to manage the pain. I didn't start to feel normal for a couple of weeks once I got off the Oxy, and then even a few weeks more until I was sleeping better. Please PM me if I can help in any way - happy to let you know what I know.
