Coincidental and causal are two different things - I think in most vaccine cases the two thing usually turn out to be coincidental, but everyone starts spreading anecdotal evidence that it was the vaccine that caused the issue.

Season 1 is only 3 episodes - each about 90 minutes. They are on Hulu and you can buy episodes on Amazon Prime - not sure if they are anywhere else.

Is it possible i am the first to mention Lonnie Johnson? Stone hands? Chris Watson, the living embodiment of burnt toast John McCargo - trade back into the 1st to get a guy who wasn't even average -
Anybody See The Red Sox Uniform's They Are Wearing Patriots Day Weekend?

Dude - I have twins and live outside Boston - my daughter has no accent, my son sounds like character out The Departed - craziest thing ever (or evah, as my son would say)...... -
Sorry to hear - feeling miserable sucks. It may be of little consolation but at least you knw your immune system is working and ready to fight. You also know why you're sick - it's not because you have covid, it's because you're having a response to the vaccine. Hang in there!

Anybody See The Red Sox Uniform's They Are Wearing Patriots Day Weekend?
The Avenger replied to Irv's topic in Off the Wall
Patriots Day (not named for the NFL team) is an official municipal holiday Monday in Suffolk County, MA (Boston) - it is not even a state holiday. When I first moved to the area I thought it was total B.S. Two things traditionally happen on Patriots Day - 1) The Boston Marathon 2) Red Sox home day game While the historical origins of the holiday are dubious, I quickly learned that this holiday makes abundant sense as Boston cannot function as a city and conduct normal daily business with a Marathon and a baseball game going on at the same time - streets are closed, traffic is a nightmare, public transit is ridiculous. Basically, if they make it a holiday businesses in the city have a reason to give employees the day off and the reduced daily influx of people makes the day manageable - otherwise it would be complete chaos. Don't even ask me about "Evacuation Day" - another made-up B.S. holiday in Boston that just so happens to fall on St. Patrick's Day in a heavily Irish city..... -
Hope you feel good and get to enjoy a day off! I was psyched I got my weekend and was not laying around dealing with a headache/fever/body aches - not the end of the world and certainly a small price to pay but I'm happy to skip the discomfort....
-
You know what they say - plan for the worst and hope for the best. I got my second shot on a Friday afternoon and made sure I had nothing on my weekend schedule. As it turned out I had nothing beyond a mildly sore arm so I could do anything I wanted, but I sure didn't want to be obligated to do anything if I was not going to be feeling well.

Season 1 is on Amazon Prime video if you have that. You can also watch season 2 on the History Channel website.

When Otto Schnering came up with his candy bar he asked Babe Ruth for his name to market it but the Bambino wanted too much money so he called it Baby Ruth. Then when Babe Ruth made his own candy bar, Schnering SUED HIM FOR USING HIS OWN NAME - AND WON! That's some serious balls...as Adam Richman said on the show, it would be like marketing your line of Indian sauces under the name Stef Curry.... I'm glad to see other people like this show - hard to explain that I watched an hour show on how Kraft developed shelf stable cheese and found it fascinating...

Good call- this is an excellent series which I would also highly recommend - they are on season 2 right now (Sunday night, History Channel) and every episode from each season has been interesting. I find it really cool to see how some of these innovations came about and how turns in history like world wars and the Great Depression twisted fate and gave us products that we all know and love today. Whether it is how General Foods became a food powerhouse to the success of the Reeces' peanut butter cup to Pizza hut, they are some cool stories and presented very well - I love this show. History is reenacted and there is commentary from a variety of people from university professors to RZA from Wu Tang.
-
Damn - forgot about that one - good call. Shows how much of life is out of your control and how valuable it is to have a partner to share it with, but even that can be beyond your control. I remember talking with a lot of parents who went to see UP with their kids and saying this scene was one of the most tear jerking of anything they had ever seen.

Saw an interview she did a few years ago when she was a mere 100 and she said she wanted to write books about normal kids because all the childrens books in the 1920s were mostly about English kids who had nannies and pony carts and "I thought they were a bunch of sissies" Spunky lady, may she RIP.

Wow - legends. I was always a news freak as a kid and watched Irv, Rick and Tom nightly - truly amazing those guys put in 30 years together. Nothing seemed more Buffalo than a long time team going strong year after year - captured how loyal and steady and welcoming people were in the City of Good Neighbors. I still hear "Topping tonight's Eyewitness News...." in Irv's voice when I think about it....

Amen to that. My brother is a scientist and just about everybody in the science community was doing something related to covid - amazing how many folks were working this around the world. Having had my second shot doesn't mean I'm going to run around like this thing isn't still going on - that doesn't change until this thing actually really disappears, but I have to say, the lifting of the mental weight is HUGE. I know I could still get sick and my family could still get sick but knowing that even if we did the chances of us getting it really bad and dying are miniscule is an incredible relief. As a dad I never really though about keeping my kids alive on a daily basis, but I certainly have. Not since frontier days when dads had to make sure nobody got eaten by a bear have dads felt like this! I much prefer being a modern dad not worrying about such things!

I'm about the size of an o-lineman (except I could afford to loose a whole bunch or weight), and I have not had a reaction to either the first or second Pfizer shot beyond a mildly sore arm. They also say that younger people are more like to have a bad response, but my 16 year old son is right with me - light sore arm is it. This virus and vaccine is weird - hard to say who is going to have a reaction. They have 100+ year old folks survive the virus and young healthy people die from it. That's why I'm always puzzled when I hear someone proclaim that they're not worried if they get covid - they'll fight it off and be just fine.
-
My 16 year old son and I both qualified for the vaccine due to medical reasons. Because my son is 16, Pfizer was the only option. We got our second shots 24 hours ago and so far so good - no major side effects beside sore arms and feeling a bit tired - hoping fever and body aches pass us by.

I'll put in a a plug for Industry on HBO because my cousin's girlfriend plays Yasmin. Pretty NSFW - gotta be strange for my cousin watching his girl in all of these scenes (I've met her - totally not like her character on the show). -
Dio is one one my all-time favorites and Rainbow in the Dark is one of my all-time favorite songs. Watching this video for the umpteenth time and STILL cannot figure out what the what in God's name Ronnie is wearing on his feet - they look like they are pale purple ladies snow boots. I'm willing to believe the lighting may have distorted the true color and with RJD being so small in stature I don't begrudge the man a heel on his footwear, but WTF? Is this a trend that Tom Brady picked up later to sell Uggs?

Damn I love this band. Phil is one of my favorite vocalists and I love COC and Crowbar - super underrated bands (2 of the best shows I have ever seen were small COC/Crowbar shows in 2019) - Pepper and Kirk are awesome.

After video of this Houston area mom tackling a peeping Tom surfaced, JJ Watt and his huge contract became totally expendable - this woman can be signed for rookie minimum.... Check Out the Form Tackle!
