I think you're preaching to the penultimate kool-aid drinkers here. I had the experience of watching most get postively excited about the war and the so-called weapons of mass destruction and the way we were going to "shock and awe" in Iraq on a regular basis. The thing that is so pathetic is it was so obvious what this war was going to become to anyone with any common sense from day one. What a shame.

It's official! Iraq has a democracy!

okay..they have a constitution that we rammed down their throats. Let's pack up and get the hell out of there. -
maguire was the punter on those teams, and I hink he liked to refer to himself as an emergency linebacker, having played that position at the Citadel. He was a very good punter, so he does get some credit.

Why so little said here on "Plamegate"?
pope zimli replied to TPS's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I don't think the issue is whether wilson is a bad-guy, liar or opportunist, or whether some are gleeful about the prosecution. The fact is that someone did in fact leak the name of a cia operative from the executive branch. That person or persons violated the law for whatever reason, and jeopardized people in the intelligence community. -

I'm kind of wait and see on it. If they outed her at all, they should go to prison...period. Serious business outing an agent, undercover or not. They jeopardized those who worked with her, other undercover agents involved in operations with her, and the integrity of the intelligence community. Serious, and if true, worthy of prison. -
James wasn't on the Bills in those years was he? I think Butch Byrd, Charlie Warner, Hagood Clarke and George Saimes were the dbacks, Jacobs Tracey and Stratton at linebackers and Sestak Day Dunaway and McDole. What about Billy Shaw as a possible inclusion for those who appreciate o linemen? Pete Gogolak contributed too, but who wants a field goal kicker jersey?

Good point. I guess it is very clear that Kelly Holcombe played far better than I expected. Actually the team played better than I expected. Moulds was a factor (great third down catch there at the end, EM.). The whole team looked good today.

Let's see what a decision to change qbs before the first division game gives us. Holcombe wasn't anybody's idea of a savior (or a starting qb for that matter) two weeks ago and is in there because Losman played badly (not as badly as some have made out) in two games. Holcombe is in for the season barring an appallingly bad game today, and Losman, if he comes back, is coming back to an offensive that is on the verge of losing faith in him. Boy I hope Holcombe plays very well today! The alternative is just not acceptable.

With the press conference earlier this week

hell, posse comitatus isn't aconstitutional mandate, and I can't see why Congress can't amend it to allow the federal government to deal with a crisis. Especially after this federal government has shown how well it operates in places like Iraq, Louisiana and Texas. Kind of makes you cringe to think how they would handle a pandemic. -
Ahhh...my posts a few years ago about not hiring MM and going after Nick Saban (everyone saying he wouldn't go to the NFL, remember?) are coming back to haunt me.

JP = Heath Shuler, Akili Smith, Ryan Leaf

I suspect a little more pass protection, a little more running, and a little more effort by the coaching staff and receivers might help somewhat. -

Right...from the people who gave us the special persecutor, Whitewater and the half-assed impeachment effort over a blow job -
Nothing to worry about. Once Bushter cuts all the fat out of the federal budget I'm sure you will all be just fine. I'm worried about all the evacuees from inside the beltway showing up at our shelters when bush cuts their jobs. Hell, that's about a third of the people on this board!!

Okay...there are those who have advised me I never have anything good to say about our so-called president. You may have missed this but I did applaud the nomination of John Roberts, and I haven't seen anything that would change my mind in recent weeks. Good job. The realy impressive thing is Bush's promise to rebuild New Orleans to the tune of 200 billion dollars with a new tax cut, without increasing the deficit, and keeping the war in Iraq going. This sounds astounding...since he is going to do it by getting rid of waste and fraud in the federal government. It is a bit disconcerting to know that there is 200 billion in wast and fraud in the federal government...but let's see.
-
no... much as you would like to think so, I believe the Bushter made that call.

I think they had a nuclear attack in mind. They weren't paying much attention to flood and hurricane possibilities. Kind of like another government I might name. -
No one is "spitting on" federal employees in general. I'm just critical of the federal employee in charge who downgraded FEMA and didn't react appropriately, resulting in numerous unnecessary deaths and great unnecessary discomfort for a lot of people. I'm just as critical of the mayor and governor by the way. I don't vote for the Mayor or New Orleans or the Governor of Louisiana. The position I have some very limited input in the selection of (voter fraud in Florida notwhithstanding.) is the President of the United States. And...despite the federal sycophants who defend the indefensible (hell...even HE isn't defending it anymore) he did a pisspoor job.

Just got back from Ukraine. In Ukraine and Russia the metro stations were dug WAY underground and housed thousands in the event of a national disaster. During the orange revolution they became a shelter for the hundreds of thousands of people who came in from all over the country. They anticipated massive casualties and hunkering down for quite a while. -
I think you are right. This is a BIG test, but I think the Bills will handle it. The defense is really a superbowl defense, and I don't see them letting up. Cadillac Williams may get some big yards, but I don't see them scoring too much. I think our offense is really coming together, and I think Losman will prove a great selection. It will probably boil down to special teams play to make the difference, and I think we win on that. I don't want to sound to pollyanna, but I think we have the makings of a great season.

Hell...he let tens of thousands people wait a few days in New Orleans for a bathroom, he can wait a couple of hours. -
I think Bush is going to give him the Medal of Freedom. "you're doing a great job Brownie!". That will go well with the George Tennant one for his great job on 9/11. Too bad the captain of the Titanic wasn't a citizen or Bush would probably give him one posthumously

I just got back from two shelters that we are rehabbing which will probably house over 100 families for the next year until they get on their feet. We have clothes, food and a lot of churches, fraternities and sororities helping out. The Salvation Army and others are going to help with finding employment and the school district is taking the kids. We operate on the assumption that most of the families will stay at least a year, so we rejected the "dome"/cot/camp concept. You raise some great points. The problems with this evacuation are far from over and will probably require a lot of planning at all levels. -
Actually, I was relying on BIB's National Response Plan for events of National Significance. Dept of HS does have co-ordinating activities in disasters of national significance. I don't remember FEMA getting high marks for anything in this administration

I agree. Ideally it will a time killing, long, gritty and punishing running sequence to get Houston thinking about McGahee rather than Losman. Let Losman show his stuff later in the game.
