  1. Not worth it imo. Both moves Tompsett has labeled "Painful but Possible" I've thought of as "Must Do" for weeks now. Especially if we are able to extend Douglas.
  2. Yeah, I saw it more as a menu to pick through to get us to about $50M under. Mix and match as you like! But the Hines situation could also be benefiting Hines and what a more thorough investigation following a grievance might reveal.
  3. Greg Tompsett is making the podcast rounds in the bye week this week and talking cap. Gave a pretty detailed plan on Cover1 and showed how the Bills could get themselves to about $72M UNDER the cap. Or $56M under without anything too crazy. Worth watching, or at least clicking around through, for anyone concerned with our cap situation next year. He was also on Locked On Bills to discuss our Free Agents and re-signing options As a little preview, the detailed plan to get to $72M... No Brainers - Cap Saved Restructure Josh - $23M Restructure Diggs - $13M Restructure Ed - $3M Release Hines - $5M Release Harty - $4M Total - $48M Being $29M OVER cap right now, these moves alone put us $19M UNDER. Tompsett's Preferred/Likely Moves - Cap Savings Extend Dawkins - $7M Extend Douglas - $6M Extend Johnson - $5M Release Siran Neal - $3M Release Sam Martin - $1M Restructure McGovern - $3M With these moves added to the above, the Bills would be $44M UNDER Painful but Possible - Cap Savings Release Poyer - $5.5M Release Tre - $6M Bills now $56M UNDER Prefer Not - Cap Savings Restructure Milano - $2.5M Restructure Knox - $6M Trade Elam - $165k Release Bates - $1.5M Release Morse - $5.5M Bills now $72M UNDER I type all that to once again reiterate, the cap is a myth.
  4. Ok, lets! (I honestly have no idea how this is going to go as I type it out) 2019 - Ed Oliver. I don't see an Offensive player that was taken in the rest of the 1st round that I would take over Ed. Certainly no weapons. If we want to use the magic of hindsight and say we could have taken Deebo Samuel in the 1st, I don't think that is being reasonable with how everyone felt on draft day. Now, AJ Brown or Metcalf in the 2nd is a valid argument. I know there were posters here begging for DK in the 2nd. And we wouldnt have even needed to trade up like we did for Cody Ford. But we did make an offensive pick in the 2nd. (And we picked a guy who plays offense. badum tss) 2020 - 1st round pick, Diggs. So there's that. For Epenesa's pick, I guess there is JK Dobbins right after, but not too impressed there. Denzel Mims at WR? Yikes. Given AJE's emergence this year, seems like the right pick. Hope we can re-sign him. 2021 - Rousseau/Basham. I think we all know what round 2 should have been. It's imo Beane's biggest mistake to date. However, I don't see an offensive weapon or even contributor we should have picked over Rousseau. Even with the benefit of hindsight. 2022 - Elam. Reminiscent of 2021, Tyler Linderbaum was there, I was hoping for him, but alas... However, it's not like Linderbaum has been amazing, and I dont think he's much of a weapon. I do think with either him or Humphrey we win the Vikings game. And they would have helped us get out of Morse's contract earlier. But I dont think we missed anything to weaponize the offense. Breece Hall I guess. But a 1st round RB? Sure, anything is better than what Elam has been so far. But I still would have gone Defense here and picked Dax Hill instead. edit: I typed this out all the way until my 2pm call started so didnt have any time to provide commentary. Looking back... So, out of 8 possible picks across the first 2 rounds of these drafts, 3 went to Offense and 5 went to Defense. Only 1 year, 2020 2nd round, did Beane miss the opportunity to add a real weapon but did use that pick on Offense. He twice missed on drafting Morse's replacement, and both of those picks were major whiffs on Defense. Honestly seems like the balance isnt tooo far off. It's more that those whiffs make it hurt worse. Ford, Basham, Elam instead of Brown, Humphrey, Hill/Hall.
  5. Interesting idea. The roster needs to be gutted anyways. White, Poyer, and Morse need to go based on age/injury/physiology alone. If we bring in a new HC and therefore a new DC, I could see them moving Milano. But at the same time, he's the closest thing we have to a normal sized LB if the new coaches plan on running any other scheme. So.. 🤷‍♂️ That all said, I'm pretty sure trading a player escalates all their guaranteed/dead money. So trading him would be an even bigger hit to the cap for us.
  6. I'm on record criticizing Beane for too many singles and doubles and not enough home runs. However, with your example of Allen, Beane hasnt had any other picks in the top 10. Usually mid to late 20s. So there is that. But still not an excuse. It's part of the reason I've about cashed it in for this season and hope the Bills end up around 12-15. We wasted half the season on Dorsey, it's a lost cause at this point. Let's see what Beane and Co. can do with a decent position throughout the draft for once. Especially with how critical this draft will be given all the players we will need to replace.
  7. Correction: McD has FAR LESS say in the draft than Beane does. Beane is the guy making the picks and ultimately responsible for them.
  8. I guess you mean Draft Investment. Because there has been a TON of Free Agency and trade investment into the Offense. That said - Josh, Jimbo, Torrence, Dawkins, Brown, Knox, Kincaid, Davis, Shakir were all acquired via the draft. Heck even Diggs was acquired via a 1st round pick. (And we'll forget about Singletary and Moss since they are gone) So outside of Morse and McGovern the entire starting Offense has been drafted. I agree we should snag a WR early (and maybe more than 1 in this draft), but "investments" have been made in the Offense. I think the main difference is more of our Offensive picks have hit, likely because of the Josh Effect, so we dont have to keep going back to the well like we do with DL (although one could argue 3 RBs and 2 early TEs is going back to the well).
  9. Depends on score and how many TOs you have remaining. If you are down by 3 or less points and have at least 1 TO left, you dont kneel down with anything over 10 seconds on the clock.
  10. It wont. It's good to be back in Vice City again tho. Map is going to be HUGE.
  11. Loaded it up on the Youtube app on TV and watched the 4k version on the big screen. About 20 times now. Going to be AWESOME! So much Florida Man'ing to do! I'm going to do ALL THE BATHSALTS! Looks like it's time to buy myself a PS5 for Christmas and re-play through a couple Rockstar games in the meantime.
  12. Jags were about to kick a FG at the end of the game with :30 left and clock running. Bengals use 1 of their 2 TOs to stop the clock. Bengals get the ball back with about :26 left and 1 TO. Might as well just kneel down and go to OT, right? NO They at least TRY to run a few plays and get into FG range. It didn't work, but they were close. And at least they TRIED. And with Jake Browning at QB, not even Josh Allen...
  13. lol I almost bumped this with a "go bengals" earlier. 😆
  14. If we end up with a top-15 pick, I'd like the idea of trading down and using whatever additional pick(s) we get out of that trade just on WRs. Pick up an extra 4th and go WR in 2 and 4. Something like that.
  15. I agree with almost all of this post. Especially the feelings on this class. I only differ in thinking that, depending who is available when we pick, we should be able to get a difference maker from this class in the 2nd round if they decide to go that route. DK Metcalf and AJ Brown, both 2nd rounders, both exactly what I want for our next WR. Given the way our roster will be looking, I almost rather they go DB (or DT) in the 1st. But still plenty of opportunity to shore up the receiving unit.
  16. $50k by Xmas $100k by 2025!
  17. He was. This is a false narrative that I call Broadcast Bias because Nantz pointed it out TWICE, therefore everyone thinks it's an absolute rule. Diggs was in on 87 of 95 Offensive snaps. He needs breathers like any WR. Diggs isnt the problem. He isnt even A problem. Or anything to be concerned about.
  18. Yes, I'm very bullish on our current talent and Beane's ability to add more. But until the HC is changed it will be more underachieving and disappointment no matter who they add or how the players execute.
  19. Who is taking the Bills seriously right now? The losses to the Jets, Pats, and Broncos already made us into jokes. The individual talent is there, but with this coaching our whole is less than the sum of our parts.
  20. And just as this thread predicts, SBNation has a new mock out which has Bengals at 13, Bills at 14, and Bengals nabbing Odunze as we get Nabers. Exactly the type of situation I hope to avoid. https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2023/12/4/23987205/nfl-mock-draft-2024-first-round-projection-update-bowl-games
  21. I believe in our talent and players. But our coaching will get in the way.
  22. Well the good news is we have like 10 picks, and this draft looks LOADED with WRs. https://www.drafttek.com/2024-NFL-Draft-Position-Rankings/Top-College-WRs-2024-NFL-Draft.asp I see most mocks have talent like Jermaine Burton going in the 3rd or even 4th. I dont want to wait THAT long to get our first WR, but we don't have to go in the 1st. And for the state our Secondary will be in come April/May, we likely wont have any other choice.
  23. I award you 1 warning point for riling the PPP crowd.
  24. As the usual TBD suspects get their pitchforks and torches ready to go after yet another woman, I'll quote another reply I saw elsewhere that best articulates a good perspective to keep here... "Its worth putting aside some disbelief for a moment to also think about how abusive relationships work. As a woman, particularly a pregnant one who is probably feeling extra vulnerable, there is always a lot of pressure to comply, or not report, or to smooth things over to avoid futher conflict and violence. Imagine you have just seen a man the size of Von Miller angry enough to strike you, he is thousands of times richer and more powerful than you, more or less your entire well being relies on him at this point, and he or his lawyers just told you in very unpleasant terms your call to the police may have just cost him tens of millions of dollars in guaranteed money. Money that would have gone to you and your child, but maybe more scary money that the father of your child who already assaulted you now feels like you cost him. Is this a highly toxic relationship? Probably. But please don't underestimate the pressure to capitulate in a situation like this, and try and have a little grace in your heart for this likely very scared and confused woman."
