OT…Cooper Dejean has declared for the draft
DrDawkinstein replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Except we are looking to fill TWO STARTING Safety spots, as opposed to a 2nd option WR on an offense that already has Diggs, Kincaid, etc catching passes, and this draft is deep with WRs. I'm all for taking a WR early, likely the 1st round. But I understand if they go DB first. -

lol, pump the brakes on that nonsense. I say Safety because that allows for far more flexibility in his usage. Think more along the lines of Troy Palamalu. Listing him as a CB and sticking him outside to cover 1 guy, or even 1 small zone, is a huge waste of his talents, athleticism, and innate football instincts. It also allows opponents to take him out of the game by simply not throwing at him. Listing him at Safety allows him to move around, maybe even roam free, let him take over the field and make plays. He's too good and talented to waste at just a CB spot. -

For the Bills, likely listed as a Safety. But he's one of those guys McD would use everywhere. Even at LB like he did with Poyer. Throw him down on the slot if need be. Whatever. -

Bills arent on that list because we have no coordinators! 😆 Well, Special Teams I guess but no one likes that guy. -

If he's available at our #1 pick, I don't see any way McBeane passes him up. And even tho I'm banging the table for a WR, considering this class, I'd be fine waiting to Round 2 on a WR if it meant getting Dejean. He'd be an immediate starter at Safety, and pretty much McD's cream dream of a defensive player. -

lol wut? There were no fans in the seats that year. There certainly weren't planes full of fans going. You know, the whole COVID thing. The last time we took over Nashville was in 2019. 70% Bills fans. We won 14-7. edit: Bonus pic of the stadium emptying over the bridge into downtown Nashville. Complete Bills takeover. -

This is NOT a ranking of "best". This is just "most liked by their players". -
Bills Cap Breakdown by Greg Tompsett

We need to fill both Coordinator positions this offseason. I'm interested in Bobby Babich as DC, but if Saleh gets fired I wonder if he would go for a season or two in Buffalo. No idea at OC. Seems if they are half decent enough to be an OC, some team already made them a Head Coach! -

McDermott's dream: a situation where playing to a tie is a good thing. We finally hit his coaching sweet spot. -

Kemp's crew is tied for second in most penalties called this season at 14.75 per game. (Land Clark's crew at 15 per game throws the most flags). Of those penalties, Kemp's crew averages 7.13 flags against the visiting team, the most of any crew. But home teams are 7-8 this season in games his crew has handled. Kemp's crew also had the Bills-Cincinnati game in Week 9 (11 penalties for 98 yards) in a game that featured Josh Allen being called for a taunting penalty for pointing and laughing at a Bengals player as Allen went into the end zone. The crew also had the Bills' playoff loss to Cincinnati last season. -
Bills Cap Breakdown by Greg Tompsett
DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure. But I think the bigger, and more accurate, point is that the Bills have about $85M they could gain regardless of exactly how over they are, which should put them about $40M-$55M under. His first 3 phases are all no-brainers IMO -

Right, theyre guessing too. They're merely $5M off from Tompsett's guess. No one knows the numbers for sure, but Tompsett DOES count a cap increase of some sort in his starting number which is why he starts at $29M under. He talks about exactly this at the 9:00 mark of the Cover1 video. -

I believe Tompsett covers that in the videos, that the $29M number counts the expected increase in cap. -

If we do move on from Morse, I think Bates is the heir apparent at Center. At least for a season or two. Could draft a new Center in 2025, have him sit behind Bates as IOL depth and then take over once Bates's contract is done. -

But given the numbers, the kick-the-can restructure doesnt really change much on Diggs. He's here through 2025 either way, and then we still have an out if we really needed it. -

Diggs RD 1 Rookie Shakir Shorter Isabella Free Agent If Beane spends a 2nd on a guy we think is going to be our 5th WR then that is a fireable offense. We have GAPING holes at starting positions on Defense. Between the following pass catchers: Diggs Rookie Shakir Kincaid Knox Cook We're already talking about our 7th best option. No need to get that deep when we have only 1 DT under contract next year, and only 1 starting DE under contract. -

DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
In general agree, but we have too many holes to fill and not enough high picks to fill them to spend another pick that high on double dipping. Bills currently have 10 picks. 1st 2nd 4th 5th 5th 6th 6th 6th 6th 7th I believe we're expecting to get a 3rd for Edmunds as well. Giving us 11. I could see Beane using a couple of those 6th to package with a 5th or 4th and moving up in those rounds. So maybe a 2nd WR there if the right guy falls. But it will take some luck and finagling. Go Bills -

DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, If that's our only option, than we wont even bother. No way he takes it and it isnt worth the hard feelings of asking your "super stars" to take pay cuts. Bad juju. Roll with it, let Von play assistant DL coach like he has been, and adjust after next season. -

DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nothing about Von at all in the plan to get to $72M under. Which is good to hear we can get there even with that contract on the books. Not sure what we do there. Seems like it costs more to cut him than keep him. But I'm still trying to hash out the post-June 1 numbers. Either way, I think Miller is on the roster next year but not beyond that. -

With the state of our line (and how GOOD it is), I'd be SHOCKED if they addressed it at all in the draft. We have all our starters locked in, and even Morse's replacement on the roster already. Re-signing Dawkins to an extension can save us enough. -
List of players under contract and Free Agents in 2024
DrDawkinstein replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was banging the table for Dax Hill in 2022 since he played both CB and Safety. Could have already been converted into Poyer or Hyde's spot by now and still be on a rookie contract. Cooper Dejean has McBeane written all over him, if he lasts until our 1st pick. But I doubt he does. Would still need to bring in a FA. With this WR class I could see going DB in the 1st and still getting a playmaking WR in the 2nd. If a Legette or Polk falls. (A reminder to some folks that AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Davante Adams were all 2nd round WR picks).
