I hope that Beane stops listening to McDermott when drafting
DrDawkinstein replied to margolbe's topic in The Stadium Wall
I guess you mean Draft Investment. Because there has been a TON of Free Agency and trade investment into the Offense. That said - Josh, Jimbo, Torrence, Dawkins, Brown, Knox, Kincaid, Davis, Shakir were all acquired via the draft. Heck even Diggs was acquired via a 1st round pick. (And we'll forget about Singletary and Moss since they are gone) So outside of Morse and McGovern the entire starting Offense has been drafted. I agree we should snag a WR early (and maybe more than 1 in this draft), but "investments" have been made in the Offense. I think the main difference is more of our Offensive picks have hit, likely because of the Josh Effect, so we dont have to keep going back to the well like we do with DL (although one could argue 3 RBs and 2 early TEs is going back to the well). -
Kneel Down Game: Final Nail in McD’s Coach Coffin
DrDawkinstein replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Depends on score and how many TOs you have remaining. If you are down by 3 or less points and have at least 1 TO left, you dont kneel down with anything over 10 seconds on the clock. -
It wont. It's good to be back in Vice City again tho. Map is going to be HUGE.

Even worse. -
Loaded it up on the Youtube app on TV and watched the 4k version on the big screen. About 20 times now. Going to be AWESOME! So much Florida Man'ing to do! I'm going to do ALL THE BATHSALTS! Looks like it's time to buy myself a PS5 for Christmas and re-play through a couple Rockstar games in the meantime.

Kneel Down Game: Final Nail in McD’s Coach Coffin
DrDawkinstein replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall
Jags were about to kick a FG at the end of the game with :30 left and clock running. Bengals use 1 of their 2 TOs to stop the clock. Bengals get the ball back with about :26 left and 1 TO. Might as well just kneel down and go to OT, right? NO They at least TRY to run a few plays and get into FG range. It didn't work, but they were close. And at least they TRIED. And with Jake Browning at QB, not even Josh Allen... -
Which WR prospect will the Bengals screw us out of?

lol I almost bumped this with a "go bengals" earlier. 😆 -

If we end up with a top-15 pick, I'd like the idea of trading down and using whatever additional pick(s) we get out of that trade just on WRs. Pick up an extra 4th and go WR in 2 and 4. Something like that. -

I agree with almost all of this post. Especially the feelings on this class. I only differ in thinking that, depending who is available when we pick, we should be able to get a difference maker from this class in the 2nd round if they decide to go that route. DK Metcalf and AJ Brown, both 2nd rounders, both exactly what I want for our next WR. Given the way our roster will be looking, I almost rather they go DB (or DT) in the 1st. But still plenty of opportunity to shore up the receiving unit. -

He was. This is a false narrative that I call Broadcast Bias because Nantz pointed it out TWICE, therefore everyone thinks it's an absolute rule. Diggs was in on 87 of 95 Offensive snaps. He needs breathers like any WR. Diggs isnt the problem. He isnt even A problem. Or anything to be concerned about.

Yes, I'm very bullish on our current talent and Beane's ability to add more. But until the HC is changed it will be more underachieving and disappointment no matter who they add or how the players execute.

And just as this thread predicts, SBNation has a new mock out which has Bengals at 13, Bills at 14, and Bengals nabbing Odunze as we get Nabers. Exactly the type of situation I hope to avoid. https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2023/12/4/23987205/nfl-mock-draft-2024-first-round-projection-update-bowl-games -

Well the good news is we have like 10 picks, and this draft looks LOADED with WRs. https://www.drafttek.com/2024-NFL-Draft-Position-Rankings/Top-College-WRs-2024-NFL-Draft.asp I see most mocks have talent like Jermaine Burton going in the 3rd or even 4th. I dont want to wait THAT long to get our first WR, but we don't have to go in the 1st. And for the state our Secondary will be in come April/May, we likely wont have any other choice. -

Von Miller faces arrest in domestic violence case in Dallas

As the usual TBD suspects get their pitchforks and torches ready to go after yet another woman, I'll quote another reply I saw elsewhere that best articulates a good perspective to keep here... "Its worth putting aside some disbelief for a moment to also think about how abusive relationships work. As a woman, particularly a pregnant one who is probably feeling extra vulnerable, there is always a lot of pressure to comply, or not report, or to smooth things over to avoid futher conflict and violence. Imagine you have just seen a man the size of Von Miller angry enough to strike you, he is thousands of times richer and more powerful than you, more or less your entire well being relies on him at this point, and he or his lawyers just told you in very unpleasant terms your call to the police may have just cost him tens of millions of dollars in guaranteed money. Money that would have gone to you and your child, but maybe more scary money that the father of your child who already assaulted you now feels like you cost him. Is this a highly toxic relationship? Probably. But please don't underestimate the pressure to capitulate in a situation like this, and try and have a little grace in your heart for this likely very scared and confused woman." -

Another storied year for our totally not cursed team. And we havent even gotten to the snowy part yet. Wonder who the writers kill off this season?... -
Would McDermott Ever Hire a Defensive Coordinator?
DrDawkinstein replied to BuffaloBaumer's topic in The Stadium Wall
Probably Brandon Staley. Maybe Ron Rivera if the Washington staff hadnt pissed off Beane/McD so much with the McKissic situation. Another couple of soft losers. I'd like to see Bobby Babich get it. -

That's fine, I'm not upset with any posts here. Doesnt change my opinion that players need to be above that. -

This is EXACTLY what I'm talking about in starting this thread! Losing out on Odunze for Mims would be a huge let down. I watch a lot of UGA, even going to the SEC champ on Saturday. Mims is "ok" but would be a disappointing pick for our highest pick in years. If the draft played out like that, I'd hope Beane trades back a bit and snags Egbuka in the early/mid 20s -

Diggs Snap Count vs Eagles
DrDawkinstein replied to Rich Stadium Original's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is Broadcast Bias and a non-story. He played 92% of the offensive snaps. The one time I noticed him out was right after he made a catch in which his route took him across the field and he ran about 60 yards in order to gain 12, at a sprint, with a CB hanging off him. He can take a breather whenever he wants to. -

I dont care. Players have to be above this. This team is out of control. JP and Shaq let the Philly's fan win.
