Does drafting a QB early and selling the story of he/we need a couple years together to develop buy them some time? I cant imagine an owner as meddling as Mara would be happy using an early pick on a QB who his next regime might not even want. Side note: a Giants QB room of Wilson, Winston, and Sanders is such a weird room.

Grier and McDaniel are dead men walking. I wouldnt be surprised if owner Stephen Ross was behind this opinion piece at some level. He wants to fire Grier, but also wants to replace both the HC and GM at the same time, so Grier has been given one more (lame duck) year, and they're already laying the groundwork to move on from McDaniel. You love to see it.

Yep, and in basketball, the whole team revolves around 1-2 stars. And their draft (and the NHL draft) doesnt go nearly as deep as the NFL's. Just completely different animals.

I appreciate the discussion and new ideas, but I hate these ideas for the NFL. No system is going to be absolutely perfect, but I think the NFL has the best draft system/process for the type of league it is. We already have great parity in the NFL. Especially compared to any other sports league. No need to make changes. Tanking almost never works out because the current coaches and players don't want to lose and care too much about their jobs, which is a good thing. It backfired on the Dolphins, Texans, and now Pats. And even with it backfiring on the Texans, they still landed the better QB anyways. The simple system the NFL has right now is the best for the NFL, imo.

Yeah, everyone is locked in on Beane's statement that he's paused talks and has moved onto the draft, because these fans triggered by social media want to teach this young, punk, whipper-snapper a lesson! But they are ignoring the fact that Beane also said its totally possible they get a deal done during the season or before next offseason. Maybe a deal gets done, maybe it doesnt. But Beane hasnt slammed the door on our 2nd best offensive weapon who he just spent a 2nd round pick on.

Yeah, I was probably a little unfair saying 3 seasons. But no more than 6. The 6th season ends with the Battle of the Bastards, and that's when the show should've ended imo. I believe season 6 was the first one they were past the book material and just winging it. I'll give them credit for keeping it on the rails through BotB. But that season 7 opening, when Ed Sheeran showed up, I'll never forget seeing that and going "welp, this is over!". And then it just got worse and worse.

He's there for 2 more years, no matter what. The dead cap is just not worth it. Will be interesting tho. If they flounder again this year, and they will, I could see Ross clean house and fire both Grier and McDaniel. That's the prevailing thought on why Grier is being given another year at all, Ross wants to replace both the GM and HC at the same time instead of this piecemeal stuff. If they end up with a new staff in 2026, I could see them giving Tua 1 last shot under the new guys and then cutting bait in 2027.
