  1. Your perception that a comment and a few emoji posts are the equivalent of "throwing a tantrum" says more about you than Cook. That's my point in the above post as well. Luckily for all of us, Beane is more professional and mature than that.
  2. I'm torn. If we need a backup to come in and just finish a game, or only start for 1-2 weeks, then I guess I see the need for a decent backup to keep our season alive. That said, I think we can absorb a couple losses and still make the playoffs, and even still win the division (in its current state). If JA17 was ever hit with a season ending injury, then I want the worst QB possible in there to tank the season and get us a top 10 (5) pick so we can load up for Josh's return.
  3. I'm not convinced he doesnt come back on a majorly reduced contract. I think this is the Bills doing the HoF vet a favor and releasing him early to see if he can get more money somewhere else. And then if not, come on back at $5M.
  4. So as a manager and supposed leader, you have an equally immature reaction, decide to pout in the corner and give the silent treatment, and risk your company's (team's) success because you want to be butthurt over a few emojis? Ignore your top talent because of a couple social media posts? I'd hope my leadership team would be above that, realize that the posts mean nothing, not let their emotions get the best of them, and stay on track with our top priorities.
  5. Fair enough, I agree with most of your first paragraph. The social media stuff is the way it is nowadays. He isnt the first to do it, and wont be the last. And he wont be the first to do it and still get a big contract. Fans are best off just ignoring it since it simply does not matter. My whole point is, I dont think these other guys not making any noise has anything to do with them getting extensions. If anything, it's more that none of them are on the same level as Cook and are just happy to be getting any 2nd contract in the NFL whatsoever. They're all mid-tier players. Cook is a top 5 (3?) RB in a league that has recently seen a resurgence in RBs. IMO, getting Cook re-signed is where Beane makes his actual money. Anyone can get guys like Bernard or Shakir to sign a $12M/yr deal. Keeping top talent like Cook is what we really need to see.
  6. It blows my mind how triggered some of you supposedly grown ass men get by a few social media comments. My daughter and her friends dont even have this much drama. Diggs was having huge blowouts with the Head Coach, in front of everyone, on the first day of OTAs. Cook posted 3 emojis in comments this week. They are not the same. If he gets traded, it has nothing to do with social media. The offer he received from the Bills has nothing to do with social media. Beane has his number. Social media posts do not change that number.
  7. This is nothing like Diggs. Cook making some social media posts does not affect his offer(s) at all. AT ALL.
  8. That's a sweet sentiment, but not how it works at all. It's more a matter of not being able to cut him without it costing the team more. Plus he is a decent vet at a priority position. That's it. It's all business.
  9. Will they play Shout! at the reception like a true Buffalonian tho?
  10. I took a lot of time out of my day to include the proper gif that conveys the exact degree of anything being wrong with that, and now I dont feel appreciated at all.
  11. Interesting take. It'll be fun watching it all play out. I think the Bills are in a good spot right now at OL. (Does SVPG become the next Teller as we send him the Cleveland to sweeten the deal for Garrett? 🙃 )
  12. The UDFA RT who we signed to only a 1-year deal? What secrets do you know?
  13. I'm already convinced you want Von's underwear and nothing is going to change my mind.
  14. Look in the column to the left for "Cap Hit" then subtract "Dead Money" to determine what we would save. For Milano in 2026, $16.1M Cap Hit and $11M Dead Money. If we keep him, he costs us $16.1M. If we cut him, he costs us $11M in dead money. So we save $5.1M if we cut him.
  15. Well how many have you made and put up for sale? You never know...
  16. There's an entire discussion in this about employers and how much they should be meddling in personal/out-of-work lives. If most of any of us get hit with a DUI, or even arrested for DV, most of our employers wouldnt even know and it wouldnt affect our employment at all. And to a certain extent, nor should it. I get that with the NFL, and pro sports in general, it's a little different since their entire industry is based on being in the spotlight and well-liked. And we, the fans, give them this opportunity to make millions of dollars a year to play a game, so therefore there is a bit of a higher standard. But it isnt on the NFL to be the legal system. Now if a player is charged and convicted, sure, go for it. Suspend, ban, etc. Just like I would lose my job if I had to go spend a few months in jail. But I get why they are harder on things like gambling and PEDs, which directly affect the product and employer, as opposed to off-field legal issues. I'll stop because this isnt really the soap box I want to be on. Just sayin, it makes some sense why...
  17. I was surprised to learn how young Edwards was as well. Thought he was at least 32 when he came to Buffalo. I guess I chalk that up to having won a Super Bowl for some reason.
  18. Oh snap, this thread just made the BIG TIME!
  19. Wrong Connor McGovern. The shlep that played for the Jets is almost 32. Our guy just turned 27. Easy mistake to make, they are very confusing. Same name, same position.
  20. The cap is a myth. (this saying always fires up some folks so lets see how it goes)
  21. Very "Billsy move" letting him go to another team for a worthless pick. I KEED.
  22. I guess. It's good to have competition. But I dont see it as a "must do". Edwards is a Kromer system guy. He was good enough to get a SB ring with the Rams. And he and McGovern are both only 27 yrs old. Those IOLs usually play well into their 30s. Great thread tho. It will be very interesting to see how it all plays out. The good news is, we're watching to see what we do with our wealth of riches. We will always need 3-4 good backups at any of the trench positions. Not a bad thing to be overstocked there. And if they cant break into our starting lineup, Beane has historically been able to trade them off and restock the shelves. Not a bad cycle to be in.
  23. I want to believe it's simply another Brown/Bernard case where he needs a year or two to develop, and in fairness we havent seen ANY play from him like we did those other guys. I'd be fine with a McGovern extension because I like him specifically as a player. We'll just have to wait and see on SVPG. (And you know how patient fans are)
