I'm good with bringing Rapp back. As you point out, there are a ton of Safeties hitting FA next year. Your list is just the top names. McBeane could pull 1 or 2 off the trash pile like they did with Hyde and Poyer. I'm keeping an eye on what happens with Kyle Dugger. Beane had his sights set on Dugger in the 2020 draft and the Pats scooped him before we had the chance. And we know once Beane locks in on a guy, he doesnt give up until he eventually signs him (Emmanuel Sanders, Von Miller). Although, with Rapp and Dugger, both fill Poyer's spot but still leave a gap at Hyde's ball-hawking coverage spot. I'm not a fan of the "converting positions" talk because I think it rarely actually happens. But Douglas could be a good fit for taking over Hyde's spot if we were to land another CB in the draft instead of Safety. What more needs to be said? When your main job is running in deep coverage and making open field tackles, losing a step becomes very apparent, and is really all that has to happen to see a big step back in performance. Poyer can hit when the play is right in front of him, but once he has to chase or take angles, good luck. Luckily both players are smart, savvy, experienced vets and can get themselves in good positions early. But they are also liabilities back there with one wrong step.

Thank you for your service, gents. Both are/should be gone next year.

Basically rewrote the bible on it Yeah, our guys, Knox especially, are too good at fighting through the contact and trying to catch the ball. It's tough to knock them on it, but it has definitely become a part of the pro game. If they could just learn to fall when they feel the push. But tough to teach them to NOT go for the catch.

I feel I covered those examples in my "ill prepared" qualifier. I'll give Dorian and AJ a break because they've done well getting thrown into the fire.
-
He hasnt done *****.

Time Outs should be used only as a tool of the Offense to get more time to score more points. Defensive Time Outs are for the weak and ill-prepared (unless it's to stop the clock to get the ball back for your Offense).

Did you see the other slide thread and think "That thread doesnt suck enough. I can do better."?
-
They dont have any extra protections as long as they are running. But the act of sliding is essentially giving up and putting yourself in a defenseless position. Can't have defenders taking shots on sitting ducks. They already made it so the ball is spotted immediately where the slide started. No extra yards or anything. These rules have been in place for a while, and there's never been a problem. Still isnt other than some Steelers fans want to whine about something that didnt even happen.

That's an insult to Paul Rudd and that man is a national treasure! Nice start, I needed a 4th one so went with some made up Kelce news, but could see it happen.

Diggs should be allowed to play out his contract here and finish his career as a Bill. If we draft a WR in the 1st, we get that guy and Diggs, 2 #1WR for the price of 1. And then when Diggs' contract runs out, we got the new guy on his 5th year option.

Wildcard round - Steelers Bills post game thread
DrDawkinstein replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, that;s his only legit beef. George Pickens has been an immature, troublesome brat since his days at UGA. This is nothing new. It's why he fell so far in the draft even with his talent. He was always going to be, and always will be, a headache for the coaches. It's playoff football, George. Go fight for the ball. -
Sounds like that is the defender's problem. Maybe he isnt cut out for the NFL.
-
Diggs had YACs yesterday where he fought for extra yards and took the hits. Josh also had runs yesterday where he gave up and slid. It's called playing smart.
-
Rudolph had a late slide with our LB already engaged and our guy managed to pull up and dive over him. It's possible. I agree that defenders are put in tough positions, and they arent always going to get it right. But it isnt impossible either. As a matter of fact, I'd say defenders are able to pull up (enough) more often than they can't. I'd argue that on the Josh penalty, the defender did not pull up as best he could. It was a late dive into an already sliding QB, and not the same type of approach they would take if they were actually trying to tackle a runner.
-
Steelers players were looking for any excuse to give up on the play and did just that, and then folks are upset with Josh for the Steelers' weak performance. Any defender who wants to win would have closed that distance to make sure he slid and still had plenty of time and space to pull up. Steelers just gave up.
-
On the Josh run AND the Shakir touchdown, there were a lot of Steelers pumping their arms and making it look like they were trying hard for the tape, but not really trying at all and just running along. They were done. I call that "going through the motions".

I wonder if a Steelers fan could have gone black ops and thrown a snowball at the ref or even his own players just to get Buffalo hit with a penalty?...

Apology not accepted. GTFO.

AJ Klein had reservations with family for Key West this weekend
DrDawkinstein replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall
He just made over $100k for less than a week's work, so I think they're ok with it. -
There is absolutely a back/ribs/core injury he has been nursing since the Denver game, if not the London game. Dude is out there, gutting it out, as our best competitor and one of our only true leaders.

I should never have been worried, but I too thought the game would end up only half full. And once the game started was pleasantly surprised. Great job and Thank you to everyone who made it out to the game. Classic Bills Mafia!
