  1. It should be taught and enforced from Pop Warner on up through High School and College. All those lower level coaches are failing players by not teaching and enforcing/requiring proper technique. Do it enough when you are younger and it becomes second nature. Antoine Winfield Jr is one of the best in the game at it. Not surprising given his lineage and likely upbringing. But it also shows players/Safeties can be top of the game AND use proper technique.
  2. To that point, there are far less concussions and brain injuries in high level Rugby leagues. Sure, injuries can occur. I've been concussed in a Rugby game myself. But you cant use that crappy "human missile" garbage or else you're gonna get run right over. Pete Carroll/the Seahawks have a ton of good material out on it.
  3. Love the spacing of Ravens/Chiefs/Texnas/Bengals/Eagles. Love the Bye week after the Atlanta game. We're all going to need a week off down here. Not sure which home game I try to make it back for...
  4. Best practice is to not to try to buy tickets. Just leave it alone. Dont even bother (Until I after I get mine ) I'm going to see what the Atlanta Bills Backers ends up with. They were in talks with the Falcons today. But they'll probably be 300s. Then I'll throw the net out at work and see if any coworkers have tickets they'd like to sell. Or even try to get company tickets. Will also see about buying single game tickets when they go on sale. Ultimately, I'll probably buy on the secondary market, but not for a while.
  5. Even at 50% of the snaps, the only player on Offense that touched the ball more than Cook was Josh. Cook had 207 carries and 32 receptions. He had the ball 239 times. He accounted for 1267 yards and 18 TDs. Shakir, who just got $15M/yr, and just had his best year yet, had 78 total touches, 825 yds, and 4 TDs. Roughly 1/3 the total production depending how you want to look at it. Point is, the snap count/usage/value argument doesnt hold water.
  6. He isnt asking for Barkley money. He's never asked for Barkley money. And no one has ever argued he should get Barkley money. Henry is a little different considering he'll be 35 by the time this contract is up. And if mid-30s Henry is worth $15M, then 27 yr old Cook will be too.
  7. We've been round and round on all those "facts" in all the other Cook threads. End of the day, the same thing is true: "Anyone with half a brain can make any stat say whatever they want". Yall want to poke holes in his game, plenty of which have more to do with scheme and usage than his actual skills. Others want to make it personal, call him names, and question his integrity. It's devaluing and trashing.
  8. Not sure I'd call fair market value "greedy" but whatever. Definitely an option.
  9. Across the entire NFL, it's just bad and lazy technique. Guys trying to show they can knock a guy over with barely trying. "I'm so strong I can just throw a shoulder into him and put him down". What they are really doing is being lazy and frankly playing scared of injuring their shoulder. But if they used proper technique, no one would get hurt and the hits would still look big (likely even bigger).
  10. More ammo to raise Cook's number to $17M/yr next offseason. Henry is 31. Cook will be going into his prime. Yes. The poster you quoted said his "asking price" just went up. It almost certainly did. The market was just set again. And fans can devalue and trash Cook all they want, it doesnt change the numbers game. Cook's agent now has a floor of $15M/yr, with likely a bigger asking price and starting point. And some team will pay whether it's the Bills or not.
  11. Yes, plenty of us were calling for Rapp to be replaced when he was killing us with friendly fire a couple seasons ago. He seems to have gotten it under control after the 2023 Chargers game where he took out 2 of our own players. The fans of other teams are free to complain about him as well. I'd say MOST Safeties play a bit dirty. It's inherent in the position where you are the last line of defense and either you make a hit or the guy goes all the way, plus they usually have the most runway for a full head of steam.
  12. He sealed his fate with the cheap shot on Keon Coleman. Let alone doing it as a Dolphin. I do appreciate him letting Cook blow by him on his way to a long TD run.
  13. Oh my god no. The only contract he should sign is a ceremonial, 1-day contract to retire as a Bill. Nothing that actually counts against the cap. Might as well just flush that money down the toilet otherwise.
  14. Good. Sucks for their fans.
  15. Cool stories, Jordan. Get lost.
  16. Looks like it will be TWO days off that week!
  17. Obvious choice is future Hall of Famer Ryan Fitzpatrick. Definitely the #1 pick. Tyrod makes sense there too. I do wonder what EJ could do in that role, and not having to be "the guy".
  18. You're an annal historian, got it. Hey, whatever floats your boat bro. No one is judging. Everyone needs a hobby.
  19. The constant misuse of "apart" is my new loose/lose pet peeve. It's all over the internet.
  20. uhh huh huh huh... "annals"...
  21. Blows my mind that the Bengals have done contracts like that all the way up to Burrow. Explains a lot.
  22. Hard disagree. All that matters is Cap Hit and Dead Cap. The fact they can be so easily manipulated and maneuvered is a GOOD thing, and why so many of us are saying the $15M "average" isnt worth getting so upset about. That's been our whole point. Of course all the dollars will be accounted for sooner or later, but Beane has plenty of levers to pull to decide how much and when. And can easily do so on a short term, $15M avg contract with little issue and without hampering the team.
  23. CAP FIGURES ARE ALL THAT MATTER No one cares about how much is actually hitting the player's bank account and when. ALL that matters is how it affects the team's cap space and ability to sign other players. Right? Or is this that personal for you? Why would you care about anything else but cap numbers? I thought that's the whole point of not paying him too much was because we need to be able to spend elsewhere? Make it make sense We know. We're saying for a 2nd round talent like Cook, the Tag is essentially like having a 5th year option. I've been pretty anti-tag, but I think it's smart to apply it like that.
  24. Just because you have beef with Cook does not make this true. Every year the cap goes up. Every year contracts go up. Numbers go up. That is a fact. It's why there were a number of "lesser" QBs making more than Josh over the past few years. Barkley reset the RB market with a $20M+ contract. Whether you believe he is close to Barkley or not does not matter. No one is saying he should be paid as much as Barkley. BUT, if Cook does have another year like last year, then he will be known as an integral part of the best Offense in football. If he hits the market, other teams will not care whether he is a 2-down back. With 2 seasons in a row like that, he will absolutely get $15-17M on the open market next offseason. His tag number will be $13-14M, and if that's the case, Beane will tag him. Heck, he might tag him anyways since it's essentially a 5th year option.
  25. It was a prove it year. He signed a 2/$16M contract. The first year his cap hit was only $5M. It was a $5M prove it year, because this year not only does his number go up to $13M, but they could cut him for less than $5M in dead cap, and save $8M if he was washed. I bolded the part of what you pasted that shows what I am saying.
