  1. Going to paste this from another thread because I think it's interesting and want to see what other people think... One thing the morning show mentioned that wasnt factored as an option: Josh or Cook taking the snap and running straight back for 65 yards and take a safety. We did something similar in a high school game back when I was playing and it sealed a victory, but we were pinned back on our own 15-20yard line, so it was easy to get to the endzone. If Josh/Cook makes it, it probably kills 20 seconds of clock and then you punt to KC with 5-10 seconds left still needing a TD. But if they somehow get tackled at like the 5 or 10 yard line it becomes the worst call in NFL history. Still an interesting option.
  2. It's a violent contact sport. It has been riddled with injuries since it started 100 years ago. It seems like there are more now because we live in the information age where everything is tweeted and talked about on mutliple TV shows and radio shows, etc. Plus, we are actually diagnosing the real injury and giving players time off to recover. It used to be "rub some dirt on it, get back in. oh, and you'll never walk right after 35", now we diagnose an MCL sprain and give the guy the proper 4 weeks off. I do agree that the widespread use of PEDs doesnt help things either, but those are just replacing the injuries that used to occur due to historical ignorance.
  3. Reid's multiple rings and track record make it a bit different discussion.
  4. As we've said and disclaimed numerous times, there wasnt much difference in the choices and we were setup with a strong chance to win no matter what. That said, out of all the options available there, punting and giving them the ball back is the "weakest", "playing not to lose" move. Going for it, or going for the FG points are both the more aggressive, playing to win decisions. Punting to them with 27seconds left, with what they've proven to be able to do in 13 and 16 seconds, would've been the weakest move. But good news! McD chose right. Analytics be damned! He went with his plums instead.
  5. I can imagine different sources may see it differently, but I'm going off what was discussed extensively on WGR yesterday, and those guys are at least usually pretty well sources/cited.
  6. I hope so, because I have a real concern about Pacheco coming back and looking like Bijan/Falcons against us in the playoffs.
  7. How much of this is Pacheco being out? And will they look completely different if/when we face them again in the playoffs?
  8. You're pretty much right, in that they were all really close and there wasnt much of a bad decision. They reviewed it on Jeremy and Joe yesterday morning. Punt: 99.9% win chance Go for it: 99.3 % win chance FG attempt: 99.2% win chance So he went against analytics, by 0.7%, but did the most aggressive, playing to win move. Which I'm fine with. Especially with the way our D was playing.
  9. Agreed. I get that analytics said the punt was the best move. But let's be real. It was a 99.9% win chance with a punt and 99.2% win chance with the FG attempt, so we arent talking much difference. And as a McD game-decision critic, I would have absolutely bashed him for "playing not to lose" if he punted. Go for the kick, and if you miss, then play tough defense to end the game. And by god, he rushed 4 on the first Hail Mary attempt, and 5 on the last attempt. So credit where it is due for not going back tot hat rush-3 and give them all day BS. Can't knock the way he handled that. (But ask me about the Defensive and ST Time Outs in another thread... )
  10. I believe Don Paul has been known to pop up in the comments too. 😆
  11. They talked about that decision on the morning shows. The win probabilities for all three choices went: Punt: 99.9% win Go for it: 99.3% win Kick FG: 99.2% win So analytics says McD went for the lowest percentage chance, but they were all high percentage chances. I think if he punted there, a lot of us would be bashing him for "playing not to lose". One thing the morning show mentioned that wasnt factored as an option: Josh or Cook taking the snap and running straight back for 65 yards and take a safety. We did something similar in a high school game back when I was playing and it sealed a victory, but we were pinned back on our own 15-20yard line. But if they somehow get tackled at like the 5 or 10 yard line it becomes the worst call in NFL history. Still an interesting option.
  12. Oh I know, I was commenting on Moran's choice of words. Not sure what Bernard was doing. Seems like he was over-reacting and over-pursuing anyone that came through his zone and got spun around.
  13. Fair enough, but then that leads to the next issue... alignment and why we continue to make simple alignment mistakes on Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. That starts and ends with coaching, and the coaches need to do something about it. It isnt just one player in one phase. It's multiple players across all 3 phases, every game. Can't allow it. I wouldnt call it a Bosa Brain Fart. It looked and felt like a screen and he was playing it that way.
  14. Get r dun! Would rather have Waddle or one of their Pass Rushers. I think we're ok with Bishop, Hancock, and Poyer
  15. F&$% Them Picks, get it done. We dont hit on our 1st round picks anyways.
  16. Trying my best to ignore this thread and not ruin my Victory Monday. But we gotta do SOMETHING... right?
  17. I'll give some credit where due. I love that on the last 2 Hail Mary plays, the Bills rushed 4 on the first one, and rushed 5 on the last play! They didnt let Mahomes sit back there all comfy and find a spot to throw to. He had to move around and felt the pressure. Hopefully McD has finally learned how to defend Hail Marys. The BRUTAL time out usage and some other things, I'll save for another day to discuss. Enjoying Victory Monday!
  18. As much as I joked on Poyer coming back, I do believe his presence back there has helped Bishop immensely. If nothing else than on pre-snap reads and knowing where to go. Poyer's play may be suspect in itself, but the amount Bishop has improved is worth 2 players.
  19. The good news is, he already has over $155M in career earnings. And while I'm always supportive of players milking every dollar out of the NFL while they can, I'm also hoping that maybe he loves it here so much he gives us a home-team discount. Beane needs to get him re-signed.
  20. My heart sank for a bit early in the game when Bosa made a big tackle in the backfield and came up wincing and in a lot of pain with his right arm. But dude played through it and stayed strong the rest of the game so hoping it isnt too bad. GREAT addition.
  21. I am a fan of the Siragusa philosophy.
  22. I was really surprised we didnt get a single roughing call the way AJ and Bosa were slamming and driving him into the ground. Loved every second of it.
  23. Oh I hope so too, but I dont believe it. I think Ross wants McDaniel to pan out mainly because he recently signed him to an extension and doesnt want to have to pay him to not work for him. But the word around Miami all offseason was the only reason Grier got this one more year was so Ross could fire both at the same time and reset with a new HC and GM instead of always only replacing one or the other. But who knows if Ross is really that smart.
  24. That's what the owner has to say. But neither McDaniel nor Tua will be part of the Dolphins next season. New GM will want his own coach, and they'll trade/cut Tua after June 1.
  25. Indeed, but there are too many other good spots open to deal with that mess as a first time HC. Brady would be better off taking the Dolphins job. Especially since it sounds like, according to the LA Governor, they wont be handing out a big contract with big buyouts.
