I'm not sure why Dalton would even WANT to go to the Pats. They look like they are on the downslide. They player an even tougher schedule than we do. If they end up 9-7 or (likely) worse, the narrative goes from "Belichick is nothing without Brady" to "Dalton sucks and couldnt get the Pats to the Super Bowl". He becomes the convenient whipping boy for the fans who would rather trash anyone than Brady or Belichick. On top of it, he'd likely have to take the biggest pay cut going to New England. So less money, with more to lose. Nah.

Worth the watch...

The Bengals genius front office didnt want to tip their hand that they were taking Burrow, and have someone else snag him before they could.

But we dont have the roster space for day 3 picks this year. Even on the practice squad. Walking away with 3 highly talented players who can all immediately contribute would have been a huge win. I agree it would have been unlikely to pull off, but I like the strategy and the idea makes sense for the way the roster is currently built.

Here's the most beautiful thing about this board. It isnt just a bunch of random, anonymous posters you'd find on reddit or in the comments section of youtube. Most of us know each other off board as well. Tailgate with each other, etc. So we know who the people claiming to know things are, and how well they are connected.

Couple things in play here... Could be they werent trying to move up 30+ picks, but rather 10-20 if he was still there. Then he went off the board at 92 and that was the end of that. Also, could be that they were willing to trade the rest of their picks (4, 5, 6, 6, 7) to move up to get him. There arent that many open roster spots on the team as it is, and a few of us had already been knocking around the idea of staying put at 54 and 86, then cashing in for one more guy, and walking away with 3 picks who could all contribute right away. Not impossible.

Good point, there are definitely nuances and different situations that would be in play. But I'm even less concerned with Barkley/Fromm if it is just for a few games. Is what it is at this point.

haha even better. just delete the thread already. youve got the power. Not sure but I'd like to conduct the "interview"

Was just about to say "If its in The Athletic, I tend to believe it. If Kirby says it, I ABSOLUTELY believe it' With regards to a priority position in the draft, I'm not so sure. I expect Beane to continue to do what he does, and bring in some suitable FAs, and then if BPA matches up to that need he takes him, but if not he'll take another position. Plus, I think they like Johnson and Neal. So who knows. But I dont expect Beane to ever reach for a need in the draft.

You think Dalton takes this team to the Super Bowl? 5 years ago? That's an entire lifetime in the NFL.
-
I'd say the only knock on him is the Double-G "Gregg". Too much like Gregg Williams.
-
Here's the thing tho... If Allen gets hurt, do we really want someone who is OK enough to get us to 8-8? Or do we follow the 49ers model? Jimmy G went down and they sucked, and that ultimately landed them Bosa. Which just stacked their team for when Jimmy G did come back and took them to the Super Bowl. I vote latter.

Interesting find in this boring offseason, but I dont think it warrants any controversy or worrying. He is his own person, and could very well be a very good attorney. And even if it is an inherited family trait, a little sleaze is ok with your lawyer, but not your President and leader of the entire operation.

You and I are usually on the same page, but big disagree there. Winston and Dalton are no way better than Allen. Cam (who I am a huge fan of), if he is healthy, which I dont believe him to be. Flacco isnt a "happy to be on the bench and hold the clipboard" type guy. He's notoriously surly and unsupportive if he isnt THE guy. I dont see him helping Josh the way Barkley or Fromm will.

Saving this post for when he's crushing our WRs over the middle a la Harrison/Meriweather/Chung. Dude is good. Hyde. He's coming up on the end of his contract, and is very cutable next year, and he'll be 31 then. Hyde couldve been traded. But either way, I dont see the Bills extending or re-signing him.

Well heck, in that case, PLEASE sign Dalton!

One bad game against our Top D, but went on to have another Brady season down the line. How did Dalton do last year? BRady had his worst year and ended with a passer rating of 88.0. Dalton had a typical year and ended with a passer rating of 78.3.

Thanks for the info Bobby. And even with that, just like cutting Thurney, moving Gilmore to sign Dalton does more harm to the Pats than good. They are better with Thurney or with Gilmore, than they are without them and with Dalton.
