Let's assume for a minute that the conspiracy theory is true: Texans get off to a slow start and BOB finds himself on the hotseat early. As we approach the trade deadline (late Oct), BOB trades Watson to the Pats (even for a 1st). BOB is fired from Houston. Can Houston Ownership petition the league to annul the trade? Is there any precedent for the NFL stepping in and stopping trades? Let alone reversing them?

This rumor started on the day BOB traded away Hopkins. The idea is that BOB will trade Watson to the Pats closer to the deadline, and when O'Brien is fired from Houston this year, he'll have a job waiting for him in NE. There is a lot of tin-foil hat conspiracy theory in that, but I wouldnt rule out anything when it comes to BOB's bad ideas and the Patriots making their own loophole to landing a top QB. That's the point. If the Texans have a bad year, and BOB finds himself on the hotseat, he'll trade Watson to the Pats, and then go work for the Pats next year.

Good point. And while he doesnt risk losing his job, he does risk tarnishing his legacy or his "aura". And with that, maybe bringing in Newton is the perfect idea, because if it doesnt work out, he knows CAM will take most of the blame on that and BB will keep his reputation. The narrative will be "Cam is broken physically and done" and/or "Cam couldnt conform his personality to the Patriot Way", it wouldnt be "Belichick failed Cam as a coach". So maybe it is the smart move for BB...

Pretty much what I posted to you last night. I just dont see him and BB gelling. Or being the type of leader BB wants in a QB. A main part of the BB/Brady relationship, and what basically made the "patriot way" possible, was that Belichick was able to light into Brady in team meetings and film rooms. And Brady took it like a good soldier. And that set the tone that if the GOAT got held accountable like that, everyone else should shut up and accept it as well. Not sure how Cam would hold up under that type of scrutiny and being called out in front of his team mates.

Today is Day 14 since they closed our office and I have been pretty much shut-in with my wife, 15mo old daughter, and 2 dogs. Even the playgrounds down the street have been taped off. And it's been raining here lately so we can't even go play in the yard. To top it off, we got the email Friday that the company is extending our mandatory work from home from April 1 to May 1. 2 weeks down, 5 to go... Being tested in all sorts of new ways over here.

Cam's health is a serious concern. No doubt. But an 80% Cam is still better than anything Dalton can bring. In general. That doesnt mean there arent certain fits which would be better for Dalton than Cam, I'll admit that much. For example, I think Dalton fits better than Cam in New England. But LA or Denver would almost certainly do better with Cam than Dalton. Really anywhere but NE, imo.

Exactly. No idea how anyone could watch the NFL over the last 8 years and think Dalton has EVER ONCE been better than Cam (even at Cam's worst). AJ Green has made Dalton's career, because when in doubt, chuck it up to AJ. In 2015, Cam lead the Panthers to a 15-1 record, passed for almost 4000yds and 35 TDs (with another 10TDs on the ground), with Ted Ginn and Jericho Cotchery as his top WRs.

I agree with almost everything you say in this thread, and am myself a Newton fan. The only thing I'd counter is, when you list out those flamboyant players the Pats took a chance on, none of them were QBs. I think Cam being a QB is what makes him too hot to handle for Belichick. BB would deal with the attitude and diva nature anywhere else, but not QB. JMO. For all I know, BB will sign him tomorrow. I just dont personally see it as a good match. edit: My brain skipped Mallet when I first read the post. My bad. But that said, Mallet is no Newton. At any level. Play or personality.

The only thing I really disagree with on the list is Titans at 6. I get they made it to the AFC Champ and earned that ranking, but I will never buy into Tannehill. I'd move them right below us, which moves the Seahawks up to 6, Bills to 7, and Titans to 8. Other than that, I can agree with these (meaningless and way too early) rankings.

Yep, we're up to 32 deaths and over 1000 cases in GA. City has been shut down since last week. But Gov Kemp still giving indecisive messaging... edit: with only 5000 tests done to date in GA.

As I posted in another thread: Bringing up flu numbers and using them to DISINFORM the COVID situation is like saying: "The sign outside McDonalds says '2 Billion burgers served this year', but when I order 5million at the drive thru it overloads the system. What gives?!?" In the long run, hopefully this turns into just another strain of flu. But the issue right now is that it is new (lot still unknown), and fast spreading all at once. That is what "flattening the curve" is all about. We wont eradicate it completely. But we must take measures to not overload our healthcare system all at once.

Good. But that is mostly because those business have been ordered to close. Not because folks took the personal responsibility. I think we both know that if those places were open, people would be out. I'm not arguing against you, just more discussing human nature, and moreso... Americans. If all our leadership does is shut it down without any real leadership of supporting those bottom earners, then yes. But we seem to have no problem pulling up Trillions of dollars to stimulate the market, so we should have no issues temporarily providing support and assistance to our working class.
