So with Cut Day happening on Saturday Any Suprises?
DrDawkinstein replied to MAJBobby's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have a harder time parting with the 3rd than John Brown (given our current WR room). John Brown and a 5th, considering Ertz is due another big contract soon? Sure thing. -
Lemme work through some math here in real time and see how it turns out. Current 2020 DE spend: Jerry Hughes - $9.5M Mario Addison - $10M Trent Murphy - $9.775M AJ Epenesa - $1.4M Total Spend: just under $30.675M I know we have some other DEs on the roster, but I'm not counting them in this discussion as they are inconsequential. Throwing Ngakuoe into the mix... Proposed 2020 DE spend: Jerry Hughes - $9.5M Mario Addison - $10 CUT Trent Murphy - $1.75M dead money AJ Epenesa - $1.4M Ngakoue - $12M Total Spend: $34.65M So we could've swapped in Ngakoue for Murphy for just an additional $4M spend this year. Looking at next year.. Proposed 2021 DE spend: CUT Jerry Hughes - $2M dead money Mario Addison - $10.2M AJ Epenesa - $1.4M Ngakoue - $20M Total Spend: $33.6M (+ rookie or FA) Now I know you need to add another DE into the mix for 2021. We can either draft another one early (which I am all for), and their cap hit would be about $1.5M, or find a mid-tier vet FA to sign at around $7-10M. Even going the more expensive route and signing a FA next year, we can still keep the total spend to about $40M. Not even $10M more than we are spending today. If we go with a rookie, that puts our spend at about $35M. We save another $2M the following year when Hughes's money comes off the books. So we've refreshed our DE squad from a bunch of again vets to young players and a potential star in his prime. And we've kept the total spend just about the same, so it does not preclude us from re-signing our other players like Edmunds, Allen, Oliver.

No, I dont. Which is why I'm not banging the "Beane's asleep at the wheel" drum on this one. I dont think either team makes those trades with the Bills even if we offered much more than the Cards and Vikes. Although I wonder if my personal "highest offer" of two 2nds for Ngakoue would have enticed the Jags at all.

Prostitution arrest: Genesee County style

Hmm, that pic is 10 years old and she's been living hard. Will need to see an update in order to make a proper assessment. But right now, she sounds like a fun time. -
Well this is all very disappointing. A 2nd and cond 5th, and $12M... Woulda done that in a heartbeat. Glad he's out of the AFC at least.

Was he? I know it feels that way, since he was the last kicker we had. But Dan Carpenter had a good run before him, and even Rian Lindell had a decent run. Until they dropped off the shelf, just like Hauschka did.

Bills Entire Marketing Dept Steps Down
DrDawkinstein replied to Mango's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Honestly do not give a single *****. Why do the Bills even need a Marketing department? Are there people in Buffalo who are unaware of the team? Do they think they are expanding the fan base with a cool billboard? I always got a laugh when people referred to Russ Brandon as a "marketing genius". All it takes to market the Bills in Buffalo is posting the schedule. Folks show up. -
Cam Newton ‘absolutely not’ the Patriots’ starting QB (?)

This is just player-speak. Of course he's the starter. It's just the "right" thing for him to say right now in interviews.- 63 replies

Bills announce no fans for 1st 2 home games
DrDawkinstein replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They implemented nothing. They had Spring Break as if it was any other year, were late to finally close, and then quickly re-opened before anyone else. Now they're seeing a surge, and just broke the nation-wide record for most cases reported in a day (previously held by NY). The best thing they have going for them is all those Spring Breakers went home and spread the virus in other states instead of just keeping it in Florida. Great win. -

No, there's a 150 page thread on PPP about conspiracy theories. We'll leave that nonsense there. I'm talking about a well documented case of a COVID data scientist filing a whistle-blowers complaint and being fired for refusing to manipulate data. Regardless, that isnt the main point. The main point is that while those two pictures look nice next to each other, and are super convenient because it helps take all the critical thinking out of it, they don't represent what that tweet suggests it does. Are you arguing that Florida implemented and stuck to safety protocols through the entire Spring and Summer? Because we all know they did the exact opposite. -

Do you think because two pictures of two different graphs look alike they represent the same exact thing? Do you trust Florida's reporting, even with all the known issues and controversy?
