Report: bills wanted to draft Wilson/Prescott
DrDawkinstein replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whaley was GM for 4 years, and in that time had 3 Head Coaches and 4 Defensive Coordinators to draft for. And none of the DCs ran even close to the same scheme as the previous. I wont do a ton of arguing for Whaley as the results are what they are, but he never had a chance of succeeding with the way this organization was run. -
Witchcraft! It is a universal law of physics that any home project will require at least 2 runs to the hardware store. 1 to get what you think you need, and at least 1 more to get what you really ended up needing.

Report: bills wanted to draft Wilson/Prescott

I thought it was Deshaun Watson? Either way, he finally would have made a decent QB pick. But I cant fault McD for blocking any QB picks regardless of who was there. Everyone knew Whaley was on his way out and a new GM was on their way in, so not fair to saddle the new GM with a Whaley QB pick. Nor would I stake my first-time coaching job on a Whaley QB pick if I were McD. Outside of that 2014 team with Marrone, I agree. Especially when it comes to the coaching support. Pete Carroll had Wilson Athletics make them custom footballs without laces because he saw Russell liked getting the ball out quickly, and wanted him to learn to do it without needing to find the laces first. Does anyone think Marrone/Hackett were going that in-depth in their development? -

A different type of "Covid-19 Party"

Kinda related. In some of our own American-style "testing", some good news here: https://www.livescience.com/hair-stylists-infected-covid19-face-masks.html 2 hair stylists had Corona. They saw 139 clients. Both the stylists and the clients all wore masks. 0 transmission. Wear your masks. -
Even if it is "somewhere between" that means we're under-reporting by 25,000 instead of 50,000. Still not good. Cool, so balance that out with the numbers on the other side, and we're still vastly under-reporting. edit: finally got past the paywall in an Incognito tab. That article references a rumor stated on the Laura Ingraham show about what hospitals MIGHT do to try to get more Federal funding. It doesnt say they are. We all understand the concept of why they might, and that it is a conservative talking point.
-
That is an easy assumption to make and exactly why the rumor gets proliferated. But all the data shows the opposite. That other causes of death are up by 300-400%, which would indicate Corona is being vastly under-reported. The data is right there for your eyes to look at, whether you want to believe it or not. If anything, social distancing should REDUCE the pneumonia numbers as well.
-
And that is just Pneumonia Here's a chart comparing "Unknown" cause of death over the last 5 years: Here's a chart comparing "Natural Causes" cause of death over the last 5 years: Weird how so many more people are dying due to these causes this year, isnt it? Seems like we are over-reporting on almost every typical cause. Which would indicate under-reporting of Corona.
-
Not attacking you in particular, but... Folks who keep spreading this rumor that hospitals were "incentivized" to put corona as cause of death need to start providing real links and sources. And do better than "my brother-in-law's neighbor's friend is a Doctor and he said..." Because the numbers and data do not justify that. If anything, looking at typical causes of death, it looks like Corona is being UNDER-counted. Source 1 Source 2 Source 3 Or look at total excess deaths: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm Under Dashboard select "Number of Excess Deaths" and then "All causes, excluding Covid-19". Across the US total excess deaths is 22000-43000. Let's say 30k. That means 30k more people are dying than we'd expect for this time period. If we assume all of those are unreported Covid cases (big assumption) then we're only reporting ~75% of total Covid deaths. There's this argument being pushed on social media that we're over-reporting deaths and it's not that bad. That's clearly not borne out by the data. We're probably under-reporting, and we may be under-reporting by a lot

I'd be interested in seeing/hearing this report because a lot of it sounds fishy, or maybe it's just getting lost in translation from a treadmill to a message board The big news from the past couple of days is that Oxford has developed a vaccine that triggers an immune response (https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-53469839). It almost sounds like they were talking about this and lumping other possibilities in with it. But as far as having multiple vaccines ready to go, and that they'd be able to produce a billion doses in the next year or so... Not sure I'm buying it yet.

Jets, Giants, Rutgers no fans this year
DrDawkinstein replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bad sign? Didnt NYS already announce a couple week ago that teams can play, but no fans allowed? Seems like NY was the bad sign for NJ. That could all change if the country got their collective ***** together. But we wont. -
Are thank you notes a thing of the past?
DrDawkinstein replied to LabattBlue's topic in Off the Wall Archives
I was raised to always send them, and we always have. But in all honesty, whenever I'm on the receiving end, I usually roll my eyes at how unnecessary it is. Weddings/Baby Showers, I know we're going to receive a thank you card. And if we've given an actual gift (as opposed to cash as a wedding gift), then it makes a little more sense. But if it's a kids birthday or graduation or confirmation, and all I've done is hit the ATM to get cash for the card my wife picked out... No separate thank you is necessary. Thank me when I give you the card, and the matter is done. Go enjoy the money I gave you, or do whatever you want with it. We're done here. -

Sure, no problem! https://didyouknowfacts.com/why-young-people-say-no-problem-instead-of-youre-welcome-and-why-older-people-hate-it/ https://allthingslinguistic.com/post/124189121619/no-problem-vs-youre-welcome And lastly, an in-depth article that ultimately shows it doesnt really matter which you use. We, as humans, just need a way to end the conversation while being semi-polite. Too much to quote. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/why-dont-we-say-youre-welcome-anymore_n_5a6fab14e4b0a52682fecef0 You're Welcome! -
