BIG10 Cancels Cancelling the Season- It Starts 10/23
DrDawkinstein replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in College Football
Pros are one thing. Those are adults getting paid. They shouldnt force these kids to play, or even force them to make the decision. Just do what is best for the players and cancel the season while letting players maintain scholarships and eligibility. It really isn't that difficult. -
Jim Harbaugh: Crazy Genius or Just Crazy?
DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in College Football
If it were any other coach, I'd say maybe. But Harbaugh is nuts. This is pretty on-brand for him. And when you're a 5* recruit, you get to make those decisions. If ANYTHING seems off, it's best to cut that school off your list. This is a major decision. Possibly the biggest decision of their entire lives. Michigan fan, I take it? -
Jim Harbaugh: Crazy Genius or Just Crazy?
DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in College Football
No idea, but crazy either way. He reportedly wears his cleats on their plane as well. Imagine being the assistant coaches that worked really hard and got this 5* OT to be a heavy Michigan lean. You send in the big gun, the head coach, for a home visit to help seal the deal and afterwards the recruit is just done with you. All that work gone because in an effort to show off a brand deal he lacked basic courtesy. -
Ok, I'm jumping in here with what I think (hope) most of yall will be surprised is a fairly balanced take. There is a lot of lingering bad PR for Chick-fil-a, which they brought on themselves. I'll touch on why that started, and what they've done about it since. It isn't so much about their own Christian beliefs, but rather the use of their wealth to fund anti-LGBTQ groups, and using their "Christian beliefs" to justify it. Additionally, and to your question, as an example of pushing propaganda, up until only a few years ago the location on Peachtree at Collier was decorated with posters advertising their "Family Camp". Which was actually a Christian Gay Conversion camp. The owners of CFA were also partially funding those camps. They also had pamphlets available in the location which detailed "signs to look for", if you thought you needed to send your kid to get the gay converted out of them. I know that wasn't the only location to have all that. Chick-fil-a has since shifted a bit. They've taken down all the posters and distanced themselves from the conversion camps. And they've drastically changed where they are donating money. Although it still isn't perfect. Here is a great article that provides a lot of detail on the subject: Link So that is why you will often find people who have problems with CFA. THAT ALL SAID... When the controversy first hit back in 2011-12, I was working at a small startup where about 1/3 of the staff was gay or trans. There was a CFA right next door, and we all ate there pretty often. I remember asking the group if they wanted us to join the boycott, as we would happily support them. They all said no. They said they were always accepted and treated well there, and that there was even a noticeable amount of gay people working there as it was. CFA never discriminated against customers or denied service to anyone. So if they didn't mind, I didn't mind. As the link above notes, CFA has changed their donating practices a bit. Which is a step in the right direction. NOW, THE IMPORTANT PART... That Popeye's sandwich is a GAME CHANGER. I'll always love CFA, but Popeye's really nailed it. It is exactly what I've always wanted a "fried chicken sandwich" to be. It is perfection. There is no contest.

Jim Harbaugh: Crazy Genius or Just Crazy?
DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in College Football
I'm not a big "blame everything on CTE" guy (not saying you are either), but it does make a lot of sense here. The rest of his family all have good heads on their shoulders, and he always seems a little... off. He took a ton of hits in his career, right? At the same time, he's always been a dick too. So maybe not. lol -

Deion Sanders not happy with his HOF bust

Weirdly dead-on. Even got his half droopy face right. -
Yeah, that's why I downplayed the one Group we were actually mentioned in. I dont think it's a big part of the Ravens Offense either (16 times to our 15 times). I think they were just in the same situations we were. Gaining good yards on 1st and 2nd down, and being in a lot of short yardage situations. When you have a QB who is also a running weapon, like Jackson and Allen are, you can "waste" personnel on extra blockers since Defenses have to respect the RBs and QB.

Can "Eddie Robinson gets juked by Chad Pennington" have its own day? I feel like I need to sit in a dark room all by myself that day.

ZERO people from the big bad "PC/Cancel Culture" group are calling for this or have even mentioned it. ONLY Tom Bauerle, as a fear-mongering tactic. And he has managed to play a lot of people in this thread like a fiddle. So it seems Tom Bauerle is the only one not in their right mind here. But for someone who thinks people in invisibility cloaks are camped in his yard to spy on him... that sounds about right.

ESPN+ has an article up today breaking down the different Offensive Personnel groupings, and who used them the most & least last year, and who to look out for in 2021. Link to Article The Bills had one mention, and it came in the "23" group: Nothing really groundbreaking, and no mentions in the "sexier" groupings. But hey, it's not COVID related either.
