I know McD is #2 on 4th down aggressiveness only behind Dan Campbell... But does anyone think McD pulls off what Campbell and the Lions did last night, going for it on 4th down and sealing the game as opposed to kicking the FG with 50sec left and hoping to play defense? I appreciate McD's usual aggressiveness, but I'm betting he chooses to play defense (playing not to lose instead of playing to win), and then it's 50/50 from there whether his defense gets a stop (history not in his favor).

And they've been to how many Super Bowls with the likes of Jimmy G and Brock Purdy? Compared to how many Super Bowls we have made it to with Josh.

WRT Hamlin and Bishop, I'll refer you to your own statement in bold. Poyer couldnt even crack the starting line-up on Cleveland teams that were going 0-16 and 2-14. Hyde had a bit of a better showing in Green Bay, but was still being bounced around between Nickel and Safety, and couldnt lock down a spot. It took Poyer 5 full seasons in the NFL (1 of those with the Bills even) before he became "All-Pro Po". Hyde needed those 4-5 seasons too. Hamlin is just wrapping up year 4 and has shown major steps in development this year. Bishop still has a lot of time to develop according to these other timelines.

Quarterbacks and "fake slide" controvery
DrDawkinstein replied to I'm Spartacus's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure. They'll definitely protect him if he is in the pocket, or even scrambling while still trying to throw. But I think he had ONE opportunity to pull that fake-out-of-bounds move, and now the refs will treat it a little more as FAFO if he is a runner and downfield. Josh better be ready to protect himself against Detroit next week as well. I hate going into that stadium. It's cursed with injuries. -
I excused the Cincy game as being emotionally drained and physically exhausted after a long, hard season capped off by the Hamlin incident. What I didn't like was how often that same lethargy showed up in games in 2023. It felt like every week for 2 seasons we were saying "THIS is the game the team needed to light a fire under their butts", and McD was never able to get that fire lit. It's definitely lit this year.

Word. For me, my issue was with him being DC last year and letting his HC duties decline. He was too busy being DC, and our gameday preparation and his situational decisions took a major hit. Now that he is back to being a full time HC, I've seen improvement in those areas.

ALL good teams are lucky. It's part of what ultimately makes good teams good. That's just a standard rule in sports. But you also make your own luck by being prepared and executing.

I feel like it was around the Chargers game, and then it really clicked in the final game of the season against Miami when he single-handedly ended the game with back-to-back plays on Hill. I'd have to go back and look, but believe he injured a couple of our guys with friendly fire in that Cowboys game, and coaches mustve got on him because it was a pretty big improvement after that.

Last year was KC's retool year. The never beat a good team in the regular season and had major roster issues at WR which also cost them games. How'd Reid and Mahomes handle it? Oh yeah, they won a Super Bowl. I'm not trying to unfarily witch hunt anyone, but I'm also not going to make excuses when other top teams are able to succeed in similar situations.

Has my view of McD changed? Not really. All the things I liked about him (and there are plenty), are still there. Most of my questions/issues are still there as well. I will say, credit to things I've seen improvement on: Having 2 Coordinators he can trust and allow to operate while he goes back into a true HC role, instead of just being an advanced DC Far less occurrences of the team coming out flat and uninspired. <--- This was a BIG one for me. While he has blown some situational calls (Jets Hail Mary, some horrible reviews), they havent been as devastating to blow an entire game so far. We'll have to wait until the playoffs to see how he does with the rest of the issues. I'm not pounding the table to replace him as hard as I once was, but still have an eye out for that "snatching defeat from the jaws of victory" crap he pulls.

I dont completely disagree and certainly would never try to talk you out of your plan as, IMO, it's just as good as any other. But I dont think any other coin has the potential to knock BTC out. It is the single true blue chip and will be for a long time. If BTC goes down, so does every other coin. My current plan is to wait until March (due to some Long Term Gains dates) and then I'll be dumping my other coins (ETH, ALGO, XLM, MATIC, etc) and reinvest those funds either back in to stocks/ETFs or swap right into BTC. Again, I'm on more of a 20 year plan, and most of what I have is house money from mining projects. Set it and forget it. For me.

More power to you. Good luck and god speed. I know the cycle will hit, but I'm not trying to time the markets. Too often a recipe for disaster. Plus creating that taxable event. I dont need to pull these funds for at least 10 years so I'm just riding it out. Will buy more when it dips. Will still be holding when it gets to $300k.

Damar Hamlin leading pro bowl voting
DrDawkinstein replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's NFC, different team. And folks need to remember that the list is only TOP vote getters for each Conference. So Lamar is currently #1 in the AFC, with likely Mahomes and Allen behind him and on the team. The team which none of them will actually play for and it will end up being Tua and Russell Willson on the AFC team. -
Like most things, the truth probably lies in the middle. I think it's somewhere in between a complete accident and a focused attack. Did the guy want to push a little girl down the stairs? Probably not. Could he have been more careful? Probably so. Would he have been more careful if they werent wearing 9ers gear? Maybe, we'll never know. Plenty of Bills fans get bumped by drunks too. So yeah. She got pushed, bumped, whatever. The team reviewed the security footage and see "something" when she slips (like the 50,000 other slips that night) but certainly not an attack. And did the right thing by reaching out to the family, while also not pursuing any criminal investigations. Can't wait until we play again this Sunday so this whole thing can go away.

People dont ALWAYS jump into a fight based on a 2 second interaction that they may not have totally seen. Bystander Effect is a real thing. Especially if the kid didnt go tumbling down the stairs and was only pushed into the row on someone's lap. There is no doubt that something happened. To what degree and with what intent is all that is really being debated. The account you quoted does NOT say anyone shoved little girls. They simply "barrelled past them". Believable. I'm not happy at the national attention going against Bills fans and Buffalonians. But I am happy the family got an extra $25k with the way medical bills run.

12/1/2024 Bills vs. 49’ers post game thread
DrDawkinstein replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Oh theyre done. They might as well pack it in and prepare for a higher draft pick. Which is probably exactly what they need considering they'll be cleaning house on a bunch of guys and will need to pay Purdy soon. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
DrDawkinstein replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
My favorite Collinsworth moment last night was in the 2nd quarter, 9ers 3rd possession of the game. Von Miller and others swarm Purdy and almost sack him, but he's able to barely get back to the line for like half a yard gain. Collinsworth sees that and goes "With these field conditions, I wonder if Purdy and Shanahan will be able to take advantage of the lack of pressure by the defense" And then Groot immediately sacks him for a 5 yard loss. Like "B!tch, we just pressured and sacked him before you even got your dumb comment out of your dumb face!"
