  1. Trent Brown next to Aaron Donald
  2. Neither of which were or are on Kiper's list. I dunno. It was a good point that not having a QB between 83-86 did help us build out the roster. We almost certainly dont get the #1 pick and Bruce with Marino playing QB. But... Marino never had help from the run game like Kelly did, and I'm not sure Marino parties like Kelly the week before which lead to some subpar SB performances.
  3. Only because both Kelly and Marino were still available, and our next pick was only 2 picks away, so we were guaranteed one of them. Crazy to think about if KC drafted Kelly, which would have forced us to pick Marino with our first pick. Which then opens up a whole new history and timeline. How many Super Bowls does Marino lead us to? How many does he win? etc etc Good info about it in the 30 For 30: Elway to Marino. They go through every pick of the 83 draft, with a focus on every QB pick. Lots of good behind the scenes stuff.
  4. Absolutely. We need way more than 1. We already had Nsekhe on the roster when they drafted Ford. And we already had both of them on the roster when they signed Williams.
  5. If it were up to me, I'd re-sign Williams AND draft a RT at #30. Sign Williams to a 3 year deal, and draft someone to develop him. Make it so that 3rd year of Williams' contract is an easy out, and there you go. I agree, I think it would be a bit of mismanagement hoping/expecting a draft pick to come in and start at OT right away. But getting a guy now, who you can coach up to take over the job in a year or two, is a good way to handle it.
  6. Okwara with the Lions, Lawson with the Bengals. I'm hesitant on both. I know it's poor logic, but I haven't seen or heard enough about them to be excited about cast-offs from those teams. IMO, it's not like the Takeo Spikes situation where he was already established.
  7. This seems like a good enough spot for this. Didn't want to start a new thread or resurrect an old one... Getting rid of their cheerleaders isn't due to wokeism. It's because the scumbags who run the team can't be around women without behaving like animals. To the point that investigations are concluding the best course of action is for the NFL to force Snyder out.
  8. Cutting or trading away Hughes would be a major red flag on Beane for me. Especially when looking at how he (mis)handled the DL last offseason. Jerry at $9M is one of the best deals in the entire NFL. He is our best DL. You don't improve a team by replacing your best guy. You improve by adding talent to the top of the list and getting rid of your worst guys. I dont even see the need to restructure Hughes' deal unless we're thinking about making it a small extension to keep him around in 2022 as well.
  9. Same, I'm actually surprised by the level of hate for it here. Way better than sudden death which basically reduces OT to the coin toss and who gets the ball first.
  10. Funny timing of this thread. We just had a chipmunk get into my wife's car this week. Left the wiring alone, but chewed up the toddler's car seat and the stroller in the trunk real bad! So now we have to replace both of those. Which is nice, since they are so cheap 🙄
  11. My brain read this as Gabe Davis and for a sec I was all 🤯
  12. I feel like that thread is for players who are actually released, where this thread is regarding the "news" from Russini that there will be a blood bath of cuts. Ahhh, the offseason.
  13. Has he? The ACC is ok, but it's not like he has been lighting up the SEC, or that Clemson's schedule is that difficult. And he had a decent game with a stacked Clemson team in the 2018-19 National Championship against Bama, but did not play well against LSU last year, and got bounced in the 1st round of playoffs this year. Are VA Tech and Pitt the best schools in the nation? Dont get me wrong. I believe he is a better prospect than Wilson, and the #1 QB prospect. But I'm just not sure he has been dominant against the best teams.
  14. What do you(they) have in mind here considering these deals are barely 6 months old?
  15. That wasnt his point though. He was only providing some context that it was a non-violent, victimless crime for which other states do not mandate prison time. So folks can see past the crime and see the person. Doesnt matter whether it was guns, drugs, speeding, shoplifting, etc. Nor did he say it needs a solution. Please dont derail this thread with politics. Go Bills!
  16. Yep, he was definitely part of a "list" they were given by someone outside of the Bills.
  17. Gotta watch this antiques roadshow clip... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Sports Cards that are booming right now arent the old Topps cards from the 50s though. It's all new "Diamond" whatever cards. Cards that have pieces of jersey fabric sown into them, etc. My Target has signs up saying only 3 boxes of cards per person on release day. It's all new card stuff. The old cards I collected in the 80s are still worthless. Womp.
  18. I dont recall off the top of my head, if it was even named, and the only articles coming up on google are behind the Buffalo News paywall. But it was the same type of firm that McNair just used on the GM hunt in Houston (and then ignored all of their suggestions and hired Cesario). Might have to ask Wawrow next time he is on.
  19. Coulda been a robbery charge from when he was a teen, or the like. Doesnt even say it has to be a felony. Dion's point still stands, he doesnt support what his brother did, but it isnt mandatory jail time in plenty of other states. And now we are getting into the weeds that Dion was trying to avoid which cloud empathy towards the person on the other side of this.
  20. I'd say the biggest difference is that they KNEW they were in over their heads with a Billion dollar NFL Franchise, and not knowing anyone in the old boys Football club. So after making their first bad decision themselves (Rex), they realized they needed help and went with an outside consulting firm to find McD. Where with hockey, they are a bigger fish in a small pond Terry has been around it a while and they think they know enough people and what they are doing and are more involved.
  21. I wont quote from the article. You all can read it and take it how you want. But I will ADD to it. A quote from Good Omens by Neil Gaiman & Terry Pratchett: “It may help to understand human affairs to be clear that most of the great triumphs and tragedies of history are caused, not by people being fundamentally good or fundamentally bad, but by people being fundamentally people.”
  22. For your reading pleasure... https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/i-want-to-talk-to-y-all-about-empathy-for-a-minute-01ezsfa6qfh7/ I Want to Talk to Y’all About EMPATHY for a Minute
  23. I asked the question to help point out that a lot of what was said about Watt and his search for a new team was mostly conjecture by fans, social media users, and the media. Folks made wild assumptions based on very little real information. "He wants to go to Pittsburgh!" because his brother is there. "He wants to go to Green Bay!" because he is from Wisconsin. "He wants to win a championship!" because he hasnt gone far in the playoffs over his career yet. But none of it, in this period, came from Watt himself. And now folks want to trash him and call him a liar, when he didnt really say ANYTHING since his release. There is one quote, from back in November, where he mentioned he is running out of time to win a championship in the context of the idea that the Texans may go into rebuild mode. Sure, we can use that. But it doesnt really satisfy what I was specifically looking for originally. And I certainly dont see where he "blew smoke up everyone's asses about his Super Bowl aspirations". He has ONE half-sentence about it back in November. It was the media and fans that whipped themselves up on that topic.
  24. Because he said it back in November when addressing specifically the long term plan of the Houston Texans, and what the Texans should do. A lot changed since then. Plus, he never said "I want to win a championship, and I dont care about money". So while he realized that he doesnt have 10 years left, and wants to win a championship, he also realized "I have to make as much money in that small window as I can". I was looking for quotes he put out since his release as it pertains to his Free Agency. There arent any. In any direction. Everything that folks said about what he would want were all just made-up guesses. The Rex Effect
  25. Found Mario Addison's TBD account. Your job is still safe. For now.
