I'm interested in seeing the numbers on this Rams contract. -
Bojo to Rams (update - traded to Packers)
DrDawkinstein replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We just dont need to invest much money or energy into our punter. Bojo had the fewest punts in the entire NFL last year with 41 in 16 games. That is crazy low. Hekker, who he will be replacing, had 68 attempts. -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB
DrDawkinstein replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What about ALL of those things? All OL starters back healthy Scheme tweaks Improvement in RB talent What's wrong with that? Fantasy thinking is taking a RB #2 overall like the Giants. Or even top-10. We're at #30. -

Wham... Diggs after more money?
DrDawkinstein replied to Comebackkid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I mean, players trying to max their value should never be a surprise. But I just dont see it happening right now. Not this week with the draft upon us. And not this offseason while Beane is trying to work a blockbuster Allen extension. -

I'd be surprised if Diggs was pushing for a new contract. He's only just going into year 3 of 5. Not even technically half way yet. And outside of 1 or 2 anomaly contracts, he's fairly compensated compared to his peers. Maybe after this season they could figure out a way for a new deal to benefit both sides. But I dont think either side is worried about it right now. Are you saying it will Wake Beane Up, before he go-goes to Cleveland? -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB

Except NONE of the RBs currently on our roster are as good as any of those 3. I'm fine with moving on from Singeltary. -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB
DrDawkinstein replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not if they cant pass block, and we are passing 80% of the time. We are a passing team with a passing offense, and the personnel to pass. If we want to improve this run game, we have to improve the RB. We can tweak the scheme a bit to help them, but it will come down to getting a RB who can make his own success. I dont disagree in theory. But when talking about this specific team... Which OL are we going to draft at #30 that will unseat any of our current OL and be better than them this year? Otherwise it is a wasted pick as well. I can say with some decent confidence that Harris is an immediate improvement over Singeltary and Moss. Isnt that last bolded statement an endorsement to draft Harris? -
Excellent argument AGAINST drafting a 1st Round RB
DrDawkinstein replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This makes sense, and I've been a "No RBs in the 1st Round" guy for a while myself. HOWEVER... I think this year is a bit different. 1. We are no longer drafting in the Top 12. We're drafting at #30 overall, practically a 2nd round pick. 2. The draft is weak in the trenches, and where we need help. Taking a DE will likely be a reach, and get us a player on par with Epenesa at best, or more likely Erik Flowers. 3. We are IN THE HUNT for a Super Bowl RIGHT NOW. And that window may only have a few years left. I dont care what happens to this RB after his rookie deal. So with all that said, I am fine if Beane decides to snag someone he feels is a playmaker and can make a difference on this team right away. I dont think we get that with any of these mediocre DEs. -
The end of excuses for defensive draft picks
DrDawkinstein replied to Playoff Win's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I wasnt sure how the selected vs alternate worked either. @Rock-A-Bye Beasley, I'd be interested if you had a link or something explaining that. I appreciate the info, but this stuff gets so ridiculously complicated, I'd like to see it explained. Thanks! -
What your favorite NFL team says about you.

When she was calling Cleveland fans heroes I was like "WTF? What about us?!?" and then she did us and I was like "Yeah, ok, that's actually right" -
Wish List (would be happy to get drafted here): Buffalo Baltimore Green Bay Miami Atlanta Tampa Bay Arizona San Fran Seattle Dis List (I'm threatening to go play baseball instead): New England NY Jets Dallas Washington Cincy Cleveland Detroit Chicago Texans Jax Tenn Las Vegas Los Angeles (Rams or Chargers) Anyone not listed (like Philly, Pitt, Denver) is just meh. Happy for the chance to play in the NFL, but not excited about the specific team.

That is surprisingly well done and did not make me click out from embarrassment before she finished. 🤣 -

I'm 100% with you, and it makes discussing him so difficult. 🤣 This... is actually a really good point. -

When you draft a kid who is barely 19, you gotta be ready to ride it out. It isnt my money, and I'd hate to move on too early. LBs do tend to get better and better over time as their pre-snap reads evolve. -
I would love it as well. Between an off year for DE talent and the idea of picking a RB... I'd love to land Newsome.

That's what I thought (and was afraid of). So Edmunds will cost us $14.791M in 2022 if we trigger his 5th year option. Cap should be back up next year so I'm not too worried about that, but that number does make it a more interesting decision for Beane. -

How many Pro Bowls has Edmunds made? I know at least 1. -

While I wouldnt be surprised if they picked this up, they only have ~2 more weeks to decide. I believe May 3 is the cut off date. -

Cant disagree with much of that. Time for the youngsters to step up on D. -
Greg Newsome, the #2 player on the list
-
With Ossai in the 1st, I went with Shelvin in the 2nd. I was already leaning toward Shelvin without knowing who we got at #30, and like the doubling-down on improving the DL. Jabril Cox is definitely another interesting choice there. But without a ton of research, I default to building from the trenches-back. I think we're reaching a bit on both picks, but wouldnt hate it if Beane went this way (especially since it would have the Beane Seal of Approval).

Bold is so effin true. I just can't see him coming in and leading an NFL locker room.
