Googling "Watt Obrien fight" turns up a lot of links. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/jj-watt-bill-obrien-fight-texans/17u2x9z2k4sva1qhfmus8323a7 -

You're close, but I'm not sure it's only that. It's nice you're giving folks that much benefit of the doubt though. -

Very good idea. And Jimmy's contract has 2 years remaining, but almost nothing in dead cap if Houston decides to move on. -

But BOB wasnt the only or even main problem. He was just a symptom. The main problem is ownership. Watson see that now. And it isnt changing. No one knows his preferred destination. The Jets are only mentioned by the media because they have the picks to get him. For all we know, he would stop a trade to the Jets. As a businessman, this is also exactly how I feel about them as well. And is probably influencing my feelings too. -

The person-in-the-wrong always wants to "repair the relationship" when the abused finally stands up for themselves. They had plenty of opportunity to repair the relationship, even came up with their own idea to let Watson be heard in the hiring process. And then once again went back on their word. -

I think everyone in Houston and plenty of folks around the league would love to see McNair sell the team, and know that HE is the main problem, and it will likely not get better while he is still around. Like I said upthread. I can only assume Watson was trying to be a good, loyal employee and team mate, and probably thought that if he signed it would help bring some stability to the organization. Which normally it should and would, but now he sees how truly incompetent McNair is, and things have changed. Things change, and not always for the better. None of us would want to work for such an employer. It wasnt like re-signing with the Texans was his only way to get paid, and this was some money-grab. He could have easily gone to Free Agency, and probably gotten paid MORE on the open market. (Although that probably would have also started a nasty Franchise Player war, like we have seen play out with other Texan players). Ehh, see above. Cant fault him for trying to help right the ship. Remember, the Hopkins trade was bad, but things got even worse well after that. Watt and players trying to fight BOB in practice didnt happen until after Watson's deal was signed. -

The amount of anger and bitterness towards Watson instead of McNair in this thread is really strange. Watson has been a consummate professional, employee, and team mate up to this point. We ALL know the Texans are horribly managed, and things have gone from bad to exponentially worse in a very short time there. Watson never demanded to be part of the GM/Coach hiring process. McNair went out of his way to tell him he would be, and then never followed through. And the race/social justice garbage is just that. Garbage reasons people want to see where they dont exist so they have an easy way to dismiss and hate Watson. Makes no sense why they would side with management over Watson, but folks really want to for some reason. -

While I mainly side with Watson, this is a good and true point. I looked up when he signed his new deal, and it was WELL AFTER they traded Hopkins away. So he should have known at that point. But I am still giving him some benefit of the doubt that he really was trying to be a good, loyal employee and team mate, and probably thought that if he signed it would help bring some stability to the organization. Which normally it should and would, but now he sees how truly incompetent McNair is, and things have changed. Things change, and not always for the better. That is EXACTLY what happened tho. McNair created this mess himself. -

Yes, wildly misinformed. It has nothing to do with race. -

Easy. No debate. Absolute fact. Oliver 13-3 Donald 10-6 Checkmate, dufus! -

Oh I remember it all as well. But maybe I'm just letting my own opinions cloud my board memories. -

Did they hate Peters? Or did they hate Eugene Parker? -
Good. Likely a Congressional hearing too.

The funny part is, I actually do think (since it is just opinion) that Josh is better. But the way this jabroni works, it's actually pushing me away from agreeing with him because his arguments are so flawed. -

Good question. It looks like it is just this year. But boy, even just one more 4-12 (at best) season will be tough to get through for the players and fans. -

Maybe, but I remember most of us staying pissed at the Bills over things like the Jason Peters fiasco. Pat Williams comes to mind too. Especially when the team is losing year after year, and it is clear the problem is in ownership/management. -

The problem is, due to BOB's universe brain moves, they dont have the draft picks to re-build and improve and win UNLESS they trade Watson. -

This is what it looks like when you are cherry picking stats. Except I take Donald Duck more seriously. -

Just because you say things this way, doesnt make them true. And that's a fact. Point blank. Book it. End of discussion. 🙄 -
It means nothing now, but that's why I was banging the drum so hard last March for Beane to: 1. Re-sign JPhillips and Lawson 2. Trade 2 2nds for Yannick Ngakoue Lot of swagger and youth there. And between what we paid Addison, Butler, Jefferson, and Murphy, we could have found the cash to pay those guys. And looking at their production this year vs Ngakoue who had a down season and still had 8 sacks and 11 TFLs, it would have been worth it. Oh well. ESPN has Addison at 8 TFLs (but just regular season, maybe postseason makes the difference?)

Right. The old guys make it a tougher list, but I'm not including them. Even Rodgers is getting up there. I did think about Burrow and Herbert, but left them as well. -

Disclaimer: I started this reply to prove you wrong, but as I list them, I'm changing my tune to possibly agree with you. 1. Mahomes 2. Rodgers 3. Allen 4. Wilson? 5. And not too many others I'd put up there. So yeah, I'll give Watson as a Top 5.
