  1. Official team isnt out, but will be soon. And some voters have started publishing their picks. No AFC and NFC, just one top team. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/43241328/nfl-all-pro-team-2024-season-barnwell-50-best-players-picks-every-position-pro-bowl Quarterback Josh Allen, Bills I won't get too much into the conversation about quarterback here, given that we're going to be talking about a lot of the same stuff next week in my year-end awards column. I laid out the numbers for the top three quarterbacks in my column Monday, and there isn't much difference between the top two. Lamar Jackson has been absolutely spectacular, and Allen has been more consistent (while still, of course, occasionally looking like he's a space alien). They're both incredible. I very narrowly lean toward Allen, but I'm not ruling out changing my mind between now and next week. It's also worth noting that Allen isn't expected to play much Sunday against the Patriots -- Buffalo is locked into the 2-seed in the AFC -- while Jackson and the Ravens need to beat the Browns on Saturday to win the AFC North and clinch the 3-seed. Edge rusher This is always the most impossible position to sort through because there are annually about 10 to 12 players who could make a reasonable case to be considered as a first-team All-Pro. This season, Micah Parsons and Aidan Hutchinson are missing out because of injuries, but Greg Rousseau, Jared Verse and Andrew Van Ginkel have had fantastic seasons and aren't even really close to the first team, which is just unfair. The bar to get in here is impossibly high.
  2. Pat will decline as well. As will Jackson and Burrow. The Pro Bowl has gotten to the point where it will be something like Herbert (AFC) and Geno Smith (NFC).
  3. Completely meaningless and irrelevant. Voting is mostly an exercise of "Oh, I recognize that name".
  4. He isnt ready for that, right now. And he wont be completely ready for it by the opener next year. But (imo) he'll be our starting FS for next season and we will have to live with the growing pains and development again next year. And I dont think it will be so bad. And after that, we'll have our starting FS locked down for the next 8 years.
  5. It's not because he's smaller. All LBs get injured, especially MLB/ILBs. They play an ultra violent position. Zach Thomas was injured and missed games all the time, Paul Pozluszny was injured all the time, look around the league and there are a ton of LBs out all the time. It's just part of LBers. That's why it's good to be at 3-4 deep.
  6. I expect this to be HEAVILY edited. Fun game. Fun team. Fun watch. Love these guys.
  7. Free Safety. I think he'll grow into that as he continues to develop and learn the system. Right now, he looks like a good SS because he can fall back on his hitting skills where they arent asking him to do too much. As his awareness and IQ develops, he'll be able to transition to FS. IMO.
  8. That would be a huge reach for Ward. But I guess they just need one dumb team (Raiders I'm looking at you...) I think this class is more like a 2013/2019/2021 class of QBs. The good news is, even if the Pats do get a handful of picks, they'll screw it up.
  9. Not sure there is anyone in this draft that the Pats could use the #1 pick on that would scare me. So I also dont think there will be many teams willing to give up a ton of assets just to get the #1 pick from them either. My ideal scenario is we rest everyone, stay completely healthy, and beat them with our backups anyways.
  10. Great day. Crushing Miami, Kyle gets a TD... and then Dalton does his thing. I'll never forget buying the Jax playoff tickets at halftime of our Miami game. I just knew it was going to happen. The rebirth of Bill-ieving!
  11. He looks better and better each week, which is great to see. Another improved performance this week and he's a lock to be our starter next year. Which says a lot about a rookie Safety anywhere in the NFL, but especially in this defense.
  12. The Sam Darnold redemption story has been fun to watch. I'm really happy for him. Was awesome to see the team hoist him up after the game this week. Even better that it's yet another dagger into the gut of the Jets org. Just shows that players simply cant succeed on that team.
  13. Oh man, check this thread and article
  14. After the offseason hype train was on speed rails, the Jets demise over the entire season was great to watch. And yesterday's devastating blowout was just the cherry on top. "The Jets have closed the gap and can overtake the rebuilding Bills this season" S%$k my d#&k!
  15. In the moment... for a moment. But bro, you gotta get back out there. Take a breath and silo it while there is a job to do. Oh I'm aware. I was on Dorsey's side on that one and didnt think he lost the team. And have outlined why in subsequent posts.
  16. The new Spector for the next 2 weeks.
  17. Fair. I get it. I'm just right across the fence from you.
  18. I'd argue health > home game. I would have much rather played last years playoff game in KC if it meant we would have been totally healthy. I think we win in KC with a complete team, lose at home with the injuries.
  19. Couple of things. First, that is a time honored tradition and part of baseball. The players expect it and know it's part of the show. Total different game and traditions and expectations. Same way if a player was ejected for throwing a punch, we wouldnt say "guess you've never seen hockey where players throw punches all the time". Second, I was not someone critical of Dorsey on his outburst, I'm just calling out the board hypocrisy. I was fine with Dorsey because it was 1. emotion shown in trying to win the game and 2. away from everyone up in the booth and 3. anger is more easily excused in sports than... whatever emotion you want to call what Stroud was dealing with yesterday. Now, if Dorsey had an outburst during the middle of the game and then couldnt properly call plays the next coiple of series, then he should be criticized. Hence, I am questioning Stroud but not Dorsey.
  20. Health is still the biggest factor for me, even over seeding and home games. JMO.
  21. Yeah, a 3 year extension would keep him until he is 29. I think now-2027 is his prime.
  22. We've already been resting guys the last 2 games. Of course we will rest guys the next 2 as well. Now, what remains to be seen is WHO and to what extent. If Chiefs beat the Steelers this week, then we rest guys the next 2 weeks, and maybe Josh doesnt play at all week 18. Not real happy with his elbow contusion on his throwing arm at this point. Being healthy in the playoffs is more important than winning games right now.
  23. This is the most important part for me. For years, I wondered why we couldnt find a guy who had the threat to take it to the house every play, and often would. I thought maybe that just wasnt part of the NFL anymore. It's so awesome to have a RB who, if he can get to the 2nd level clean, has a good chance of taking it all the way to the end zone. Total game changer. I'll also add that Cook has been a LOT more physical this season. Even running OVER guys a couple times. That is new this year, as previously the big criticism was if you get a hand on him he would go down. I think he's one of the few RBs who has earned himself a second contract. Maybe a 3 year extension.
  24. He's the next Tua of the AFC East. Will be just good enough that the Pats will be forced to give him a big contract, yet we'll never lose a game to him (except maybe week 18 when we arent trying).
