  1. Thanks, I checked 3 articles before posting and not one mention of an injury, so I do appreciate the clarification. The rest of it stands.
  2. Look I hate the Chiefs as much as anyone, but lets be real here. No one was even injured in Rice's accident. It's illogical and unreasonable to say "almost killed people" or "damn near killed people". If that applies then you can say the same about every one of us who goes 1mph over the speed limit. It isnt up to the NFL to be judge, jury, and executioner on things that occur outside of football. They get to do it a little more because their business is based on public image/interest, and these players make a lot of money in a high profile position, but none of our employers would be able to punish any of us over a car accident either (not counting CDLs). They WOULD however punish/suspend/fire us if we were cheating within the business. PEDs, gambling, etc directly affect the NFL and their bottom line. Off-field stuff typically doesnt. It's that simple. Jurisdiction. The REAL courts already sentenced him to 30 days in jail, 5 years probation, and $1M in settlements. There is your justice.
  3. Haha, I've referenced those meetings here as well. Haley and Gregggg just circling Jackson like sharks in the water.
  4. Or theyre trying to expedite the 6 years it took Poyer and Hyde to figure it out into something like 3-4? We'd all love Bishop (and even Hancock) to be a cagey veteran running on instinct, but that's a borderline unreasonable ask. I do have higher hopes for Hancock tho, he seems to have a higher floor to learn from.
  5. Josh has 8-10 more years (hopefully), so that's our window.
  6. Because guys like Poyer and Phillips are known quantities, and they also know our system. It's a complete waste of a roster spot (even with 99 of them) to have them around, when you can instead have a young/new player to try out and see if someone pops. one more lottery ticket. If no one shows out, you cut them and bring back the vets that were given the bonus of having camp off and are fresh and ready to go (as practice squad players).
  7. Yes, a plus is having pro-bowlers at every position. But...
  8. If that's the case, I'd rather have Poyer than Forrest as he's proven to know McD's system.
  9. Poyer came to the Bills in his 5th NFL season, after being cut by the team that drafted him, and then not being able to crack the starting lineup of the 0-32 Browns. And then became All Pro around year 6-7. Some things take time.
  10. Disagree. This is very much like the classic "Patriot Way" of the 00s. Once your high-priced vet ages out, let him walk. And if he wants to come back a couple years later on the cheap as a role player, welcome him back. It used to be that guys were just waiting for their contract to expire so they could flee Buffalo and never look back. Now, we are the ones looking to move on, while the players beg to come back. I dont want Poyer actually playing a single down, but this signing is a + for the organization, not a negative.
  11. Yikes. I can justify and even appreciate bringing Phillips back. But Poyer is cooked. Maybe they're hoping he can be the experienced vet in the room as more a player/coach. If he sees the field, we're screwed. I'll put this in writing: we wont win a single game Poyer starts. Hopefully he'll never have to, but if we get there it wont be pretty.
  12. They really have us at about $9M under. The -$28M is based on all 82 contracts against the $279M cap. If you look one more column to the right, they have the "Active 53" total. That comes in at about $270M against the $279M cap.
  13. Right now the cap number is based on the top 51 contracts, and there are ~90 players on the team. At least a few guys with $1M contracts will get cut and we'll be right back under cap by a few mil when its all said and done. We wont have much room to do anything. But we'll be compliant.
  14. $68M in career earnings so far. Just took a 1yr/$16M to 1yr/$30M and gets to be a FA next year. He wasnt going to get a multi-year deal done with further guarantees from Mike Brown so this is the best option for him.
  15. Someone say 1 tech?
  16. Dont forget Mike Brown. Also messing around with WRs and DEs.
  17. Yeah, it's a lot of Cap Magic. His 2025 salary became fully guaranteed (it wasnt previously). Then a $9M signing bonus paid immediately. Then the rest of it is in guarantee conversions as he's still on the team... $15.28M guaranteed at sign (signing bonus + 2025 salary + $5M of 2026 salary) Additional $4.41M of 2026 salary fully guarantees 2/9/2026 (injury guaranteed at sign) $6.22M of 2027 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2026 (injury guaranteed at sign) Additional $2.91M of 2027 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2027 (injury guaranteed at sign) $1.18M of 2028 salary injury guaranteed only 2026 Option Bonus: $7.4M 2026-29 Per Game Active Bonus: $20,000 ($340,000)
  18. Ok, so not the RB, no surprise. But apparently its a waste of time to dick around your DEs and WRs. Just pay em. But that's kinda my point too. There are so many ways to look at these deals, and its so easy to craft them so it gives the agent/player their bragging rights while still being reasonable for the team. I get you have to do the whole song and dance because if the team just jumped to it then the agent asks for even more... but jeez louise.
  19. So $32M/year which is what he was asking for when everyone was saying he was too old to pay that... so wtf were the Commanders waiting for? In each and every one of these hold out/in scenarios, it's the team trying to refuse reality. And most of the time, or every time, they end up giving the player what they wanted. Even Cook, who while didnt get his $15M starting number, surely got more than Beane initially offered and a bunch of guaranteed money.
  20. Gotta get the big guy in the building and make sure he's as in-shape as we need him to be. He already had camp off. Just a guess
  21. The guy made plays in the AFC Champ. He's already on a decent level. We gave him camp off while we tried out a bunch of kids. I saw your post on the Eagles and went and looked at the trades... They brought in Sam Howell as backup QB, and brought back an OL they had on the roster previously. So they wasted a draft pick bringing back OL depth while we wasted nothing bringing back our DT. Same thing, bringing back a guy they had already signed. I'm not getting the anger on this. At least not via your example. I think a lot of us are forgetting we arent in the drought years where we're trying to build a team that can get 11 wins for once. We're an AFC Championship caliber team and roster, and likely a Super Bowl caliber team if everyone is healthy. I guess comparing us to the Super Bowl champs could leave us wanting, and I certainly want only the best. But "clowns"?...
  22. I'm not trying to argue too much. But DT was/is a significant need, and there really isnt anyone else jumping off the page that went later in the draft. I remember 2024 being noted as a very top heavy draft, and then talent falling off fast after the first 15-20 picks. Bad pick, sure. But not sure there was a better one there (unlike a Metcalf/Brown over Ford).
  23. In some fairness, as evident in the AFC Champ, Phillips was one of the only players to show up and make plays and get it done. We were only a couple plays away in the AFC Champ. Really just one more 3rd down stop. It could be as simple as adding Bosa and having a healthy Benford to get that 5% more. Just because "the defense" couldnt get it done, doesnt mean there's no one worth bringing back. I think the biggest offender was Elam, and we bounced him as soon as we could. We'll see... 🤷‍♂️
  24. Great question. Before the preseason, I would've bet on Codrington, but after what I've seen the last few games, I'd keep Shenault. Shakir Palmer Coleman Samuel/Moore Shavers Shenault Decision to be made between Samuel and Moore. Hamler gone (can he make the practice squad?)
