If LB Devin Lloyd is available at Pick 25......
DrDawkinstein replied to Special K's topic in The Stadium Wall
You dont even have to bring Edmunds into this discussion. If a talent like Devin Lloyd somehow manages to fall to our pick at #25, you run that card up and draft him. He would be BY FAR BPA. Worry about what you do with any existing MLB after the fact. -
Fan Duel ranks the top 10 pro athletes in NY

Fan Duel CEO is a huge Bills fan. I wouldnt be surprised if this was partially to remind people that the Bills are the only NY team. -

2023 Extension? (Poyer/Edmunds/Knox/Oliver)
DrDawkinstein replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall
And right now we have 5 out of the 6 we listed (not WR2) under contract long term. Most on team friendly deals. Magic Beane. -
2023 Extension? (Poyer/Edmunds/Knox/Oliver)
DrDawkinstein replied to elijah's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agreed. It wont be long until teams will have $100M wrapped up in 3 guys. QB ($50M), WR1 ($30M), WR2 ($20M). -

Oliver and Knox. Dont care about anyone else on the list (no disrespect to Poyer, but I think he'll be aging out). Will be interesting to see what we do with Davis too. -
Diggs Extended 4 more years breaking news per WGR 550
DrDawkinstein replied to BillsPride12's topic in The Stadium Wall
Great post. It inspired me to go back and watch the entire presser, and man, you aint wrong. Such a cool, calm, collected, mature dude. Makes me think the entire incorrect "diva" marrative that came from Minnesota was really nothing more than Minnesota not having anyone else who matched his competitive juices, and his demanding excellence from others looked like a diva. Totally worth the 15 minutes to watch. -

I wouldnt sweat that much. There are so many tricks and moves and loop holes available to competent GMs. With restructuring and moving money around, Beane will always get us what we need. How he does it is up to him and Overdorff to worry about, and they seem to be some of the best in the league at it. For us fans, "the cap is a myth". And even better, expected to go up by large amounts with the pending new TV/streaming deals and Amazon and Apple throwing their large wallets into the ring. -
"Running my mouth" because we're talking about the cap? No one is saying we want them gone or they are bad. Just that they are next on the chopping block due to the way the business works. Looking at the next few years, it's unlikely we pay a pair of 33+ year old Safeties $10M each as they age out of the league. Relax, bud. Like it or not, that's the business. Nothing against them.

Diggs Extended 4 more years breaking news per WGR 550

Diggs' number was $18M. New deal should free up another $8M for us. From what I've heard on the radio by cap experts, Spotrac numbers, while technically accurate for right now, do not give the whole picture. Things change once they go to "Top-51". It is expected that Beane already has the money for rookie contracts earmarked, and if we were to go to Top-51 today, there would be a few million available for the rookie deals (we definitely dont need $8M for rookies). PLUS, the $8M or so we created with the new Diggs deal. -

Spotrac wiped Diggs' number and dont have a new one, so the total listed for the Bills is currently $18M short. Expect $10-11M to be added back on when the new numbers come in. -
Maybe a 1-year extension for both, but I dont think either of them would want that. Luckily we have a couple years until both would be gone. I'm also hoping/planning on some of the young DL talent to develop and kind of take their place in a way, just opposite side of the defense. Once Oliver and Rousseau come fully into their own, and we get some decent production from Settle, Basham, and maybe even Epenesa, it will be the DL that will help the young, rookie Safeties look better.

Diggs, done. Knox, Davis, and Oliver next. Bye, Edmunds and Poyer, and likely Hyde the year after.

It is when the cap jumps once Amazon and Apple get in on the streaming/TV deals.

Oof, would only be worse if he signed with Eugene Parker

Seahawks turn down Jets offer of the #10 pick for DK Metcalf
DrDawkinstein replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
True, I forgot about the haul they got for Wilson. -
Well, he worked out in a gym with Jumbo Elliot, but never in a true Giants capacity since he wasnt under contract and it was only a day or two between being cut and getting signed to our practice squad, as is the usual timeline.

Seahawks turn down Jets offer of the #10 pick for DK Metcalf
DrDawkinstein replied to Greg S's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, probably. I just think theyre putting the cart before the horse signing Metcalf to a 2nd contract when they have no QB, and it could be a few seasons until they find one. It's like signing TO when you have Trent Edwards at QB. Same thing Miami is doing. -
I dont know who you are thinking of, but that isnt Jason Peters. He signed with us from the beginning. Was a TE/Special Teams star (remember the blocked FGs?). Was developed by Mouse McNalley into OL, and eventually LT. He was always a Bill.

Probably. So give the Jets a counter. Sounds like they just shut it down with no intent to trade him for anything. -

Dumb move by Seattle imo. Theyre going to have to give Metcalf $25m/year when they dont have a QB. And who knows if they find one during that contract. Trade Metcalf for a top-10 pick, maybe trade out of that spot to acquire another 1st for next year, and hope there is a better QB candidate available to move up and get? Unless they like the dude from Liberty. -

Stats rarely tell the whole story. Especially for a TE who is part of an offense loaded with WR talent. Unlike guys like Kittle, Waller, Andrews, Pitts, etc who are their QBs #1 option. The way Knox played last year was like a top-5 TE. If he keeps it up, he's a top-5 TE, even with those stats. We'll see what the OC change to Dorsey who lived and died by his TEs does for him. I'm also more confident with Knox than some others that he'd give the Bills the Milano/Dawkins/White type of discount. He'll get paid but it will be a fair team deal.
