  1. My main criticism of Edmunds in the past has been his lack of play-making in the middle. No TFLs, tipped passes, INTs, etc. And when compared to his counterpart, Luke Kuechly was such a playmaker it made him look even worse. I've always been waiting for him to look anything like Kuechly. In separate conversations about McD and his DL rotation, it was noted that he rotated heavily in Carolina as well, UNTIL he had better DLinemen and then the rotation rate dropped. As I look back, it would seem the improved DL coincided with Kuechly's addition and performance. Maybe what we've been waiting for is the DL to get to the level that McD's Defense requires, in order to free up the MLB who has a ridiculous amount of responsibilities in that scheme as well.
  2. Yeah, this makes me think we got away with one. Great job by Brown to loop back to the LOS tho. He really only gave the refs a 1sec window to throw that flag and likely no one noticed in that time. I'm sure that is part of Dorsey's design. Great coaches/Great teams push those rule boundaries. I like it.
  3. They are like Free Agents. They could absolutely choose to stay on the PS, not get playing time, and stay at the low PS pay. Or they can choose to go to the new team which MUST put them on the active roster, and get real pay. It's unlikely, but it's possible.
  4. That is college-only. In the NFL a forward pass is a forward pass. (Unless the rule changed very recently) I still think we got away with one, because the NFL rule is 1 yard and he was definitely more than 1 yard away from the LOS. But maybe not being engaged helped the refs miss it. That, and Josh's beautiful play action fake took all their eyes to the run.
  5. Yeah, that's what I figured as well. Definitely wasnt eligible, but still within the range (or close enough) as far as the refs saw, and more importantly not engaged.
  6. (I actually believe you) He's downfield before we even finish the play action portion. But looks like it was all good thanks to @patzen's clarification.
  7. Man, that first TD pass play to Gilliam, how did we not get flagged for Spencer Brown being so far downfield? He was as deep as the LBs! edit: lol, even Baldy says "I dont know how he got there". (Good teams are lucky)
  8. Which game do you think we will need to rely on Moss, Blackshear, Howard, or Sweeney to win? Have we needed/missed any of them so far?
  9. Panthers finally learning to be proactive in addressing the inevitable McCaffrey injury.
  10. There goes our Super Bowl. Beane asleep at the wheel!
  11. To stay on theme, you should have made this title "Is anyone concerned the Bills only have the #2 Defense and #3 Offense?". Clearly McBeane have some work to do.
  12. I seem to remember a play during the game where maybe we were trying to hard-count them and get them to jump, and the Titans DT (likely Simmons) seemed to purposely jump into the OL a little harder than normal and it caused a bit of a scuffle. I'm thinking some bad blood probably already existed from these two practicing against each other last year. Simmons took a shot at Hart during that hard count or kneel down (can't remember which it was), and it carried over to after the game. Either way, I'm for it. Bully the bullies.
  13. Report: Arizona State staffers were leaking info to help opponents, get Herm Edwards fired https://saturdayoutwest.com/arizona-state-sun-devils/report-arizona-state-staffers-were-leaking-info-to-help-opponents-get-herm-edwards-fired/ Well that's not a great look. Apparently it was due to Herm never bothering to learn all the NCAA recruiting rules and constantly jeopardizing the program (which is currently under investigation for Herm breaking recruiting rules). They got tired of babysitting him, so they started leaking team info to help the opponents and get him fired. Kinda makes sense, but damn, crazy drama.
  14. Cool video for Pat. But messed up that no mention of Steve Tasker on this list of Special Teamers. I like his mention of Deion Sanders' quote that half the players in the Hall don't deserve it, so don't sweat whether you do or not. And finally, SURPRISE THIS IS ANOTHER RYAN FITZPATRICK FOR HALL OF FAME THREAD! If any of these guys get in, Fitz deserves it too.
  15. I'm all for this, especially last night against the Titans. Vrabel and his team have bullied us BAD the last two seasons. We've been missing the fire in the trenches that we had in 2019 when we last beat them. And that victory was due in large part to the bad penalties JPhillips and Shaq baited Lewan into taking and killing their drives. If teams want to line up and play fast-paced, technically-sound ball, we'll blow your doors off with talent and technique. If teams want to try to be bullies, this team is going to bully them back even harder. LFG!
  16. Likely, his assignment was both gaps. That's the general rule of our scheme and the pressure it puts on Edmunds. Cover1 did a really good analysis of it last year. Again, usually an Edmunds detractor here, and I hate seeing plays like that as well. But from what has been previously outlined, and given the way he played that down, it is very likely he had responsibility for both gaps, and had to play the inside first.
  17. Roll up your window and drive away? But it's America, so anyway, I started blasting.
  18. Those OLines were not crappy. Mankins, Koppen, Light, Andruzzi, Solder, Connolly, just off the top of my head. They were consistently a FORCE in the middle that we do not have. And as I noted above, Defenses play our short yardage situations differently than against other teams. They sell out to stop Josh from picking up the sneak, as a hopeful badge of honor. I cant defend the shotgun tho.
  19. You would think with our top-rated staff, they would remove all spleens upon signing your contract with the Bills. Avoid all this nonsense.
  20. I dont think it's homerism, but it seems to me that Defenses play the sneak more against us than other teams. What I mean is, when I see other teams in short yardage, the DL lines up like they normally do. Against the Bills, they'll stack all 4 DL between our 2 Guards. Giving Allen no lane to sneak. Makes it tougher for us to get the sneak through. And given how soft our Interior OL is, it makes sense that we dont (cant) run up and sneak it. I've always thought Any Down and 1 yard should be an automatic pick up for a team. Especially when your QB is Allen's size. Just fall forward and you get 2 yards automatically. But teams have been effective at stopping that. I type all this to say, likely time to upgrade from Morse.
  21. We scored a TD on 4th and 1 last night so... 🤷‍♂️
  22. That was good. Eli is a funny dude. That little brother complex. "How much you bench?... You first." 🤣
  23. It was my least favorite play of his all night. Bad form, and bad idea. As a DL, he needs to be wrapping up and tackling through the player. Especially when playing Derrick Henry. I hate that DBs all try to do that human-missile garbage now, and I hate it even more from DLs.
  24. Well, that approach only won the Pats like 6 Super Bowls so it's tough to argue against. But I agree we need to bring in some youth to the interior. Specifically, Center.
