How did Allen not dominate in college?
DrDawkinstein replied to C.Biscuit97's topic in The Stadium Wall
He never received the level of coaching or development he needed. That is why he was able to buck the trends/numbers and make such vast improvements in his game. He was finally receiving the training and development most other blue chip QBs received while they were in high school and college. When he came in, he was so raw he hadnt even reached his FLOOR yet. That is the big difference between him and the other "project" QBs that come out of bigger programs and never make it. -
thank GOD. Could you imagine if we missed in 2018 after having had the pick for Mahomes? That would have been some classic Bills *****. All hail McBeane.

With Allen & Mahomes, it's even more interesting when you throw in the wrinkle that it was the BILLS who graciously traded out of the #10 spot so KC could pick Mahomes, and then took Allen the next year. Tying the two QBS and the two teams together at an even deeper level. Will make for a great intro in the inevitable 30 for 30 about these HoF careers.

Allen back to back offensive player of the week
DrDawkinstein replied to loyal2dagame's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe. But the Jets have had a long string of early pick DLs who flounder, then play well in their contract year, then burn out or get moved. We'll see if Williams can sustain this performance through this year, and/or through a couple of seasons. Wilkerson, Ellis, Coples, Richardson, Leonard Williams, Quinnen Williams.... The team seems to be on a better track now, I'll give them that. -
oh my god the saltiness in there.

PFF grades from KC...(for what they're worth)
DrDawkinstein replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall
I could see Jackson getting it. It would make sense and follow McD's MO of bringing rookies along slowly. Now that yall mention it, I think I believe it will be Jackson and White. And agreed they ease White back in on rotation. I dont have fancy stats to back it up. I just have a feeling that as long as he is playing well enough, they'll want to give Elam the snaps and experience. End of the day, there really isnt a wrong choice for the staff. Definitely good problem to have! edit: wrt Miller. First off, how dare you 🤣 Secondly, I'll chalk it up to all things happen for a reason. If we had drafted Miller back then, it's probably likely that he isnt on the Bills anymore at this point and not part of this historic team. Also, likely we may have won a couple more games that may have knocked us out of the running to snag Josh. Lastly, Miller is too small to compete with NFL Tackles and will never be good in this league! To this point, I think we're seeing a bit of the "Levi Wallace Effect" on Elam. That being: this Defense is designed to push passes to the #2 DB. It is partly why we saw Wallace being "picked on" or having so many passes thrown his way. Frazier schemes to force the QB to make his read to a certain player or part of the field. That is usually toward our #2DB where they have Safety and/or LB help. Obviously, Elam has a lot of growing and developing to do as well. But I'm not judging him too harshly on that game yet. We still only gave up 3 points, and that pick was in the end zone. -

Not saying he or Benford arent playing well. I just think the coaches' choice is pretty clear. Unless Elam's performance falls off a cliff, they'll have him in there because they want him in there. Now, McD and crew are usually good about playing the better performers, but I dont think there is that much difference to warrant a change of plan at this point. -

Nothing ever personal, my man. I was just giving you back some snark from your "11 of 12 angry men" line and the pitchfork gif. You seem to get offended by my posts more than others, or take our shooting the ***** too seriously? If we were discussing over beers, we'd be perfectly aligned. Go Bills -

I dont think its a tough decision either. White and Elam will clearly be our starters when White comes back. Not to take anything away from Benford or even Jackson, but Elam is getting that spot. -
A Few Thoughts about the Chiefs Game, in no particular order

Oh yeah, 2 years ago. Tough to keep track nowadays since we basically lost a couple years. What even is time anymore? -

I'm a historical Edmunds detractor, but I also understand his assignments. I dont expect him to jump routes per se, because if he does and misses, the receiver is GONE. His job is to keep everything in front of him, give them those short underneath completions as their only option, then make the tackle. The problem before was that he wasnt making that tackle. Now he is. I will give him that. It's huge. Agreed, I wish he would find himself in better position to tip/deflect passes. Given his length and range you would think we'd see more. He has shown improvement in those numbers this year, but they arent quite where Kuechly's numbers were playing the same role in the same scheme. Your willful blinders on McKenzie's poor performance and lack of reliability given 5 years of data is impressive, I'll give you that. Could ask the same about your post. We dont have to agree with the grades, but they are good jump-off points that lead into better discussion. Thanks for contributing! -

It reminded me of the game-winning* throw Josh made to Diggs against the Cardinals last year. Hit Diggs low to the outside in the endzone just like that. Such a difficult throw to make, and we've seen Josh make it multiple times now. *if not for some lucky bull#### -

When you see Pickett put up 300 yards but only 3 points, and Mahomes put up 340 yards and only 20 points... I'd say we're pretty close to bend but dont break. It's will always be the case in the cover-2 shell we run. Teams can move down the field to an extent, if they are happy to take what we give them. But once we get inside the 40-30 yard line, it naturally tightens up. -

Yeah, we know Beane doesnt mind stacking picks at same/similar positions. So I am looking for a re-do of the Wood/Levitre draft where we go Center/Guard in rounds 1 and 2. And then maybe even back to that well later in draft (the equivalent of Benford to Elam). -

I do enjoy me some Colts/Jags as well. Great rivalry. But the games were totally different. -

Ryan passed a bunch and put up numbers, but Josh was clutch in a brutal heavy weight battle. Watching both games it becomes clear who had the bigger game. -

True. But if that's what they dinged him on, then you'd think the 2 (3?) really great open field tackles he made later on would have balanced that out. -

Given what we know about Taron, I assumed him getting picked on early had to do with the schemes we were running and purposely pushing the ball to those spots. And when the time came, he made the play he needed to. It was such a coaching chess match of adjustments and readjustments, and both teams doing it so well. -

Interesting point. I cant disagree about his poor tackling in KC, but in the previous couple of games he showed great form and was a solid tackler. I'll chalk it up to KC being really good on Offense and being good/smart enough to catch him in bad positions where he had to stretch or dive to try to make a play.
