Sure. Who knows man. These are all just opinions and they change by the page. We have no idea what the GMs are really thinking. And "cheap" is relative. Leonard Fournette, after helping the Bucs win a Super Bowl, only got 3/$21M. Melvin Gordon got 2/$16M Most RB 3rd contracts are super low regardless of how heralded the RB is. Luckily the GMs arent using my off the cuff remarks to base deals around. 🤣 $12M/yr is absolutely no where near RBs' 3rd+ contracts. Send me some links on that if you have better examples than mine in Fournette and Gordon (I was looking for "big name" productive RBs getting their 3rd contract). CMC does not have 3/$36M to negotiate from. He has nothing but what he thinks he's worth or is wiling to take. He would cost us $600k this year, and then could be cut and get $0 next year, and count $0 on our cap.

Luckily, what the fan base says doesnt mean jack squat.
-
But the $12M salary is irrelevant. His potential salary is $0 with no guaranteed money remaining. There is no reason to base anything off $12M. It's easier to simply start from scratch. Pretend his contract is up after this year. That is the reality that everyone is facing. Just start fresh and offer him 3/$15M with $10M guaranteed. Sure we both end up in about the same place, but the way we get there is different. Forget what the current contract says and reset by his actual value.

Denver's only hope is to clean house on the coaching staff (I guess they want to keep the DC tho), and bring in a new HC who has a ton of experience. Only person I can think of is Sean Payton. The Broncos are stuck with Wilson and that contract for at least 4-6 years. Hackett will NEVER get him right.

As far as what teams will use in negotiations in Free Agency. He certainly isnt going to get the ridiculous $12M/yr that Carolina was dumb enough to sign him to. Doesnt mean he cant play at all, or isnt good. It's just the market.
-
All accurate but I'm curious where he is getting such an exact figure of $4.8M. There is no guaranteed money, so it can be restructured to anything. Could be $3M if CMC would agree to it. There is no floor other than what CMC will agree to, as far as I know.
-
Ehh, still tough with a Tag number of $18.7M
-
Just curious. I like this number, but where are you getting it from?
-
CMC? His contract can be restructured to be whatever we want next year (that he'll agree to obviously). There is no guaranteed money left, so if he is cut he earns nothing until he gets another deal. And an aging, injured RB is not making more than $5M on the open market. He becomes real cheap, actually. We could probably restructure him, and extend Poyer, and extend Oliver. The toughest one is Edmunds considering his market value will be around $18M-20M, and that is a LOT to eat for a guy we were unsure on going into this season.

Right now, I'm hoping CMC goes to SF or LA. edit: Sorry @Sherlock Holmes. But, hey, if he is in SF maybe your chances go up?

All-22 Grades for Bills/Chiefs (The Athletic)

I take all grades with a grain of salt considering none of these "civilians" really know assignments and responsibilities even if they do watch all the film. I see the grades more as a general guide and jumping off point for discussions among friends and message board posters. -

How did Allen not dominate in college?

Agreed on Gailey and it wasnt meant as a shot at him. More so a statement on where the entire organization was at the time. -

Same thing I used to say about Russel Wilson going to the Seahawks instead of the Bills in the 3rd round. Pete Carroll and staff went through tremendous lengths to support Wilson and ensure his success. Carroll went so far as to have custom footballs made without laces so he could teach Russ to get rid of the ball quickly even if he didnt have the perfect grip. So much stuff like that went into what the Seahawks did to make Russ successful. There is no guarantee Wilson would have received that type of coaching and development under Gailey and crew. Actually, it's pretty certain he would not have. And look at the difference now, ever as an experienced, developed veteran vs how he was performing in Seattle. Yes, a lot of success is up to the player. Certainly, Josh has put in more work than any other QB. But success does not occur in a vacuum. It is very situational in the NFL. You take Josh away from McD and Dabol and Dorsey, and stick him on the Browns with their shitshow carousel of coaches, and it's a whole other story. -

I know folks are pretty polarized on (or really ANTI) Tim Tebow, but I mainly think of and remember him as a college player. One of the best college players I've ever seen, at that. And when I watch Josh's will and determination, it very much reminds me of Tebow in his Florida days. Especially in 2008 when they lost an early season game to Ole Miss and afterwards Tebow took to the podium and said "...You have never seen any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of this season and you'll never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of this season, and you'll never see a team play harder than we will the rest of this season..." And then he went out and actually DID IT. Watching Josh reminds me a lot of watching 2008 Tim Tebow. Which is a good thing! -
Or do what my dad did and load up your 7yr old son with the wineskin and flask under his snow suit since security didnt check kids back in the 80s because it would take a real monster to use his son as a booze mule 🤣🤣

He never received the level of coaching or development he needed. That is why he was able to buck the trends/numbers and make such vast improvements in his game. He was finally receiving the training and development most other blue chip QBs received while they were in high school and college. When he came in, he was so raw he hadnt even reached his FLOOR yet. That is the big difference between him and the other "project" QBs that come out of bigger programs and never make it. -
thank GOD. Could you imagine if we missed in 2018 after having had the pick for Mahomes? That would have been some classic Bills *****. All hail McBeane.
