47 yard line 32 yard line 26 yard line 26 yard line 37 yard line I wouldnt say it's "very few" making it to the 35. Those returns average out to the 34 yard line. And each of those come with the chance to pop it for a TD, which was very close on a couple of them. When the game was on the line at the end, they wisely kicked it into the end zone. Just do that all game instead of giving the other team a chance to turn the game around.

While the ideal outcome is getting it to the 20, I think getting that scenario to work out is unlikely. Boot it through the end zone, put it at the 35 and play ball. I think some teams have tried that already, and it was not very successful. Almost need to hire a new assistant Special Teams coach to figure out what to do and how to do it on the new kickoffs.

Interesting. Need to squib/soccer kick it!
-
Not sure he tipped it, but McDermott and Tua both talked about Walker getting his hands up affecting the throw. So it was a big contribution on that play no matter what.

Kicking it to the 9 just allows the guy to catch it on the run and usually get a good return, with the decent chance of breaking one. Seems like smart teams should just boot it through the end zone and put it on the 35. Am I wrong?

The best call McDermott made all night was sneaking in a Time Out to negate the Dolphins false start. It was 3rd and 5, and the Dolphins were trying to jump early to get to 3rd and 10, since that was a gimme all night. -

Miami fans would love that, but pretty impossible I assume you meant "If I'm Ross". I think he cleans house after this game and tells the interim GM to trade away everyone. Beltline patio! -

Not even sweating it. I've even proposed letting the Dolphins win just to prolong the careers of McVape and Grier. It's still our division. Even if we split with everyone in the AFC East and lost a couple other games, no one else in the division is going 12-5 or better. I'm officially 11 years old again and back in 1990 mode. Not arrogant or entitled, just chill confidence. Josh's comments after the Ravens game put me back there. Back in the day it always felt like we would win. Like, "oh we're down 15 with 4 minutes left? Only 2 scores and all that time? Kelly and Co. got this." I'm back in that now. Let's roll through a fun regular season, and see ya in the playoffs! -

The posts and comments from Dolphins fans on their subreddit and message boards are pretty hilarious. All too self-aware and defeated. Tua saying he cant do half of what Josh does really set them off in the funniest way. He isnt wrong, but you dont say that. Bills by a Billion tonight. -
Bills may end the careers of a HC, GM, and starting QB in one game...
-
Agreed, and beat me to it. Same thing happened in Carolina once McD got 4 starters he liked. The rotation dropped to a minimum. With Bosa/Jones/Oliver/Rousseau as your starting 4, they should only be rotating out for wind breaks when needed. And even then, Ed waved Sanders back to the sidelines against Baltimore.

Yep, I posted this in the Tyler Dunne/Caleb thread. Waldron refusing to coach the kid last year really sandbagged him. Great clip by Brady.

I'm feeling glad we have Dolphins, Saints, Patriots the next 3 weeks. -
I dont think they were as different as you're making them out to be, considering the below. People seem to be forgetting that the Bears are the Bears, and have been really Bearing it up the last 3-5 years especially. It was always a 50/50 shot with Johnson on his own. We'll see. They have to move on from Poles. And really, that's only going to do so much. They REALLY have to move on from the McCaskeys. Word is they are more likely to sell now that Virginia passed.
-
If they end up with a top-10 pick, I could see Johnson pushing to move on from Caleb as early as next year. Especially if they bring in a new GM. Then Caleb isnt tied to either of them, and neither of them will want their HC/GM careers tied to a QB they didnt even pick.
