How in the hell did Nathaniel Hackett become an NFL head coach?
DrDawkinstein replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sure, technically it is more a nepotism issue nowadays than someone in a 2022 NFL Front Office saying "No Blacks". However, for a loooong time the NFL avoided hiring black coaches. And now, we have a nepotism issue where teams favor hiring the sons/grandsons of coaches from when they DID say "No Blacks". So guess who isnt included in those nepotism hires? Outside races. So it is indirectly and inadvertently a race issue. Nuance. -
Refs asking Mike Evans for Autograph
DrDawkinstein replied to Donuts and Doritos's topic in The Stadium Wall
This makes more sense. All I need to hear is that the ref went to A&M. THAT is already a bigger conflict of interest than asking for an autograph considering how tight that Aggie Alumni network stays. It makes absolute sense why those two would be talking and chumming it up. Much ado about nothing. edit: Some of my favorite comments: "He probably asking Evans to sign the petition to get Jimbo fired" "Tampa receivers already planning for the offseason" 🤣 -

That has way more to do with losing Davante Adams than losing Nate Hackett. -

It's silly to think he had anything to do with that offense, and that it wasnt completely Rodgers and LaFleur. Exactly the type of thinking that puts an incompetent person into a high profile HC job. -

You nailed it. He failed his way up based solely on who his daddy was. And his daddy was a crappy coach too! -
Saying "the last place Patriots" is VERY satisfying.

Broncos getting trade calls for Jeudy and Chubb

We havent seen Keenum run the real offense, with all the other starters, actually trying to score. Tough to make that assessment at this point. -

Yes, everyone know we need OG help. But you cant just conjure what doesnt exist. And right now, there are WRs and RBs available for trade and no OGs. If you know of an OG who is available, feel free to mention them here or in the OG thread. Otherwise, we'll continue discussing what is actually available. And we are 1 hard hit over the middle away from losing Diggs or Davis. You can never have too many WRs. We saw it last year when we lost Bease and Davis at the end of the season. -

Agreed that it's not a great look, but I dont see it as a big deal. Also, this isnt even their main, full-time job. Refs make decent money, but it is a secondary, part-time job for all of them. It's ridiculous that the NFL doesnt make it a full-time, primary job and get these guys in camps and workshops more. -
Lil' Dummy McKenzie.........offical team character builder
DrDawkinstein replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dont ever reference the GDT. What happens in the GDT, stays in the GDT thread and does not reflect reality. It's why many of us stay away from the board completely on Sundays. To the bold... well, ok man. You can disagree with what we've all seen with our own eyes. Even classic homers like myself. -
Lil' Dummy McKenzie.........offical team character builder
DrDawkinstein replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
I just went back through the first 8 pages of this thread. There were a lot of complaints and detractors. Not a single one suggested to cut McKenzie. One poster mentioned using him in a potential trade package, but that's the most extreme suggestion made. What the rest of us have said is that he should be moved back to #4 or #5 WR, and only used situationaly, like on jet sweeps. At least until he can prove himself again. That is literally how McD got such a great game out of him in New England; benching for mental mistakes that helped him find his focus. He had a good game last year. He has a long and diverse history of mental errors as well. Give Shakir a larger role, and let McKenzie earn his way back in. Is that unreasonable? Do we disagree that much? -

Ok. Point stands either way. Josh stood and fired an unexpected fastball right at Diggs, and Diggs was fully ready and on point. This is about more than one bad game. -
I think it's all of that, plus the fact that Carroll knew how much of a system-QB Wilson really is. All the special, "custom" coaching and play-calling that went into making Russ successful since the time he was drafted. Just like we see them doing now with Geno Smith. Carroll is looking like a genius right now.

I mean, I think that's kinda the plan. Go all in this year, then tank next year and be in a spot to reset and replace Lance in 2024. Winning this year helps soften that blow of sucking next year. Yeah but they have to get a new deal done, or else they are stuck paying that $12M/yr. And now that the trade has been done BEFORE a new deal is in place, CMC has the 9ers bent over a barrel, just like Tunsil did to BOB and the Texans. They are racing to the point where their only choice will be to pay CMC big money, or give up all those picks for a 4 month rental. I thought part of the trade talks dragging on was the new team working on a restructure. We may still see one, but it will be under the graciousness of CMC.

Knowing this warms my heart.
