NFL Week 8: Packers at Bills - post game thread
DrDawkinstein replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Not sure if it's been mentioned, but keep in mind a lot of the negativity after a double digit win is because a LOT of people had the Bills at -10.5 or -11 and due to some 2nd half sloppiness, they juuuust failed to cover. -
Completely, 100% disagree. This isnt some blue collar guy working a second job or an extra shift to provide for his family. Seems like some of you are projecting with this kind of talk since their situation is nothing like anyone else's. SHE makes more than HE does. They've already made hundreds of millions of dollars. NONE of them need to work. And this isnt real work. He chose to go hang with the guys and pump his ego, like he has been doing for over 20 years, over being with his family. So he lost his family. That is all this is. To the bold. That is a sad question. I feel bad for you.

I fully agree on the Dolphins plan. He was headed to Miami, for sure. Now he needs to just ride off into the sunset.
-
Crazy to think he'll retire after this crappy season, when he could have just retired last year, had no losing season, gone out a legend, and saved his family. One more crappy season over his family. What a guy.

Bills release new stadium renderings
DrDawkinstein replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
It will always stick in my craw as a huge missed opportunity to really push Buffalo to a new level. I guess in this case status quo isnt a horrible alternative. But still... -
I get the comparisons. I just wanted to dig on the Pats. Cousins, RG3, Flutie, and even Johnson were all far better QBs than Zappe or McCorkle. This may be one of the least talented QB controversies the NFL has seen. Couldnt happen to a better team.

Except with 2 far less talented QBs

Who are we going to play in the super bowl?
DrDawkinstein replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall
We may have too many in-conference wins to make the playoffs if we keep going at this rate. Would be best to beat the Pack but then lose to the Jets if we really want a chance. If Jets take the AFC East, I can agree it will be Bills/Chiefs in the Super Bowl. -
Kadarius Toney to the Chiefs for picks
DrDawkinstein replied to wolfpack78's topic in The Stadium Wall
Chiefs get a speedy WR? Dang, the Bills should add a DB in order to keep up in the arms race. Oh wait. We have an All-Pro CB being added to our 5-1, #1D next week. And he's already on a long term team friendly deal. And he knows the defense. And we dont have to spend a bunch of picks to get him. Master Team Building by Brandon Beane. -
Also, Pats win because another win is meaningless in their standing, but a Jets loss gives us some breathing room on 1st place.
-
Watching him from his baby swing.

The Edmunds situation is the toughest one to figure out for us fans. He's finally performing like the LB we've all been waiting to see. However, he will be able to command likely $18M-20M/yr average on a new contract in Free Agency. Would Tremaine be willing to take less to stay in Buffalo? (all other draft picks we have re-signed have inked very team-friendly deals. White, Milano, Dawkins, Taron, Knox, even Josh) How much would Beane be willing to spend at the position that is so important to McD's defense? How much of this improved Tremaine is directly due to the improved DL in front of him? And if that is the case, does it make replacing him without much drop off even easier? The good news is: I totally trust Beane. He has a plan and knows what he is doing. So if Edmunds ultimately walks, so be it. And if Beane decides to sign him at $25M/year, then I'll roll with that too.

Josh makes THEM the punk B word!
-
Mac Jones is a punk B word and learned this dirty move from the ultimate punk B word, Tom Brady. Know who isnt a punk B word? JOSH ***** ALLEN Josh runs over dudes, jumps over dudes, or stiff arms them into the ground. You will never see him pull a B word move like this.

How in the hell did Nathaniel Hackett become an NFL head coach?
DrDawkinstein replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
McVay was young, but he never coached college. He was tied to Kyle Shanahan's offense (father, HC Mike Shanahan). And it should not be forgotten that Sean McVay's grandfather was Jack McVay, Head Coach of the Giants in the 70s, and GM for the 49ers through the 5 Super Bowl run in the 80s-90s. So yes, lots of nepotism. The issue being that nepotism rooted in a time when the league was only hiring white coaches. This is how systemic racism gains and keeps momentum. To many outside observers taking things at face-value today, you could certainly say "This is merely nepotism!". And that is mostly true. But like it or not, those strings of nepotism go all the way back to times of racist hiring. So still racism at the core of the problem. -

The Peter Principle: People in a hierarchy tend to rise to "a level of respective incompetence": employees are promoted based on their success in previous jobs until they reach a level at which they are no longer competent. -

And 5 of the 8 came from the Sean McVay "inner-circle" of frat boys. 🤣 -
Refs asking Mike Evans for Autograph
DrDawkinstein replied to Donuts and Doritos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I tend to agree more with LDD that this is the monster the NFL has created, but for different reasons. By being such media whores and wanting to dominate the air waves always being on TV or Radio, or social media. By being so shady in their league office practices. And by having seemingly zero accountability for poor officiating. I dont think they should try to restrict any and all player/ref contact. But they shouldnt be surprised if/when a "story" like this catches fire. I'm sure Roger appreciates the clicks and isnt losing sleep over it.
