What’s your offer for WR Jerry Jeudy?
DrDawkinstein replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ha, good question. Yes. As of right now, nothing has changed for me. McGovern could be yet another FA OG on the pile. I might be convinced otherwise before draft day. -
Great first step!

In fairness, DHop is only 30 right now. But! Recently injured and busted using PEDs to recover. Which usually turns into a slippery slope. -

Maybe. Hey, I think Hopkins is THE premier WR in the NFL and has been for a decade so Im certainly not against it. But for the upfront investment, and long term costs, I tend to lean towards the guy who can/will be playing for the rest of Josh's career as opposed to the guy who will likely be falling off a cliff and retiring soon. Hopkins age, injuries, and PED use worries me. Once that ball starts rolling, it usually picks up momentum. I'm just not sure how "cheap" he will really come. -

But how much is Hopkins cap hit vs Jeudy? -

I want to use our first three picks on 2 OL and 1 WR. So if they are asking for high offers, I'd start with a 3rd, and could probably justify a 1st considering there likely wont be a WR available at #27 as good as Jeudy. But if it really came down to a 1st, I'd have to think hard about it. -
Go lower. Like onto the field. Josh was dumping off to Singletary and Cook the first 4-5 games, as designed, and they were starting to light it up. Our offense was clicking. Then he just stopped. Folks can blame it on the elbow injury, and that may be the case. But we did start the season throwing to the RBs, and they were still there and wide open underneath the rest of the season. We just stopped throwing it to them and instead bombed it out for low percentage throws.

Matt Milano Contract Extension, as per Adam Schefter

Cookie Boi! Love it -
Not so sure. There isnt a lot of love on here for Ramsey to begin with. The fans are cap conscious right now. And they most certainly dont want to see any high picks used on defense, let alone DBs. Maybe if this were last offseason, and it allowed us to use the 1st round pick elsewhere (Linderbaum), still snag Benford later, etc. That would have been a good move. But not so sure it would be a welcomed with Bills Mafia right now.

Disagree. I wouldnt be hating on Beane, but I'd be skeptical. For Ramsey's price tag vs our cap situation vs his underwhelming performance vs Beane's ability to find DBs in the 4th-7th rounds... it would seem like a huge waste of resources.

Good, now Allen/Diggs can embarrass him twice a year. They straight up did him filthy-dirty the last two meetings.

Damn. Tyreek Hill is really, really, fast.

I should not have laughed as hard as I did at this. Well done. -
Bears to trade #1 overall pick to Panthers

Ah, word. Completely agree with the bold. I'd rather roll the dice on a rookie with a rookie contract than pay big money to the mid tier guys. -

25 years ago had all the same modern FA structure. You'd have to go to the mid-90s to get past when the Salary Cap and FA modernized. But sure, I'll give you just the last 10 years. That's 2. Again, not quite a strong argument with just 20%. It makes sense that it should be easier for teams ith QBs on rookie contracts. The logic is clear. But it doesnt seem to play out that way when it comes to results. -

Foles wasnt on a rookie contract in 2017. It was already his 6th season and he was back to Philly on a FA contract. But that is 2 QBs (Wilson '13, Mahomes '19) who won the Super Bowl while still on their rookie contract in the last 20 years. I guess if we said 25 years, that gets Brady in there for 3. But 3 in 25 years isnt much better. Doesnt seem to be a big correlation between QBs on rookie deals and winning Super Bowls. -

Oh, I thought you were talking about teams that picked another QB while they had one on the roster already. But to the point of success with a QB on a rookie contract, how many/which teams have won a Super Bowl with a QB on a rookie contract in the last 20 years? -

Exactly how the Bears valued Moore since they pushed for him over a 2025 1st. I think its a great move for the Bears and said as much in another post. I was just surprised at the compensation after a couple of crazy years of big hauls to move up. I'm thinking like what Philly gave up to get Wentz, Rams to get Goff, type of deals. To get up to #1, I expected a big pile of 1sts and 2nds. But good for both teams. Chicago gets a great WR for Fields and a handful of decent picks to work with. Better than just that #1 overall in a weak draft. -

I'm not much of a Fields fan, definitely not a big believer, but I think it's the right move to stick with him now and build around him as best they can. And this move supports that greatly. There just isnt a Luck/Manning/Elway guy in this draft. If there were, then I'd say they must pick him - and they probably would. There isnt even a Bosa/Bruce DE, or amazing LT they can pick. Trading down is the right move here, imo. -

It's a one in the hand is worth two in the bush thing. As a GM, trading for a pick 2 years from now is nice, but I may not have a job in 2 years to use it. Plus, they arent helping right now and maybe not right away even then. -

That's the thought. Unless we get another "Baker Mayfield" genius type decision. Compensation seems light to me. I guess since they are staying in the top 10 it isnt so bad, but all they got extra was another 1st, a 2nd, an equivalent 4th (2 yr 2nd), and WR Moore. Surprised they couldnt milk more from Indy.
