2023 Draft - Offensive Line discussion
DrDawkinstein replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
The guys I'm looking at... Vorhees Schmitz Wypler Tippmann Need to look into Torrence more. Would like to get 2 of them in the first 3 rounds. I dont think Morse is as set as some think. We can save $9M by moving on and he's one head slap away from retirement. -
Yes

It doesnt need a name. It shouldnt have a name. It doesnt deserve a name. We dont need to "brand" all of our heartbreaking moments so we can constantly relive them and wallow in their misery and make it into another tshirt. It was a ***** game at the end of a weird, ***** season. Let's just move on and dont look back.

Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden Should just be reiterations of the same 5-10 bands for everyone

Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread
DrDawkinstein replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
Tough to say they were "exceptional" when neither could crack the starting line up of their previous teams. Beck Water listed the draft positions of all the Safeties left in the playoffs. Plenty of late round guys there. Sure, it's probably easier to "develop" guys who were already talented enough to be a 1st round pick. But we cant require early picks at every position. -

Ah good catch on it being his first year. But as I mentioned up-thread, Poyer and Hyde were both very late picks too. The Bills have made late round (and even UDFA) DBs into serviceable players. -

Just a guess... Those safeties, Hamlin and Johnson, have been on the roster for a few seasons and it was expected that they were being coached up to be able to step right in when Hyde and Poyer aged out. Hamlin did "just ok" as long as he had Poyer telling him what to do and even then was shakey, and Johnson was complete garbage. They were not nearly as developed or ready as anyone hoped. I dunno. 🤷♂️ -
He's the coworker who is the boss's son. Literally how he has managed to fail his way up for this long. He is the poster child for the Rooney Rule.

If it was such a fluky "perfect shot" and not a preexisting condition, then I could see the possibility. Especially with him being only 24 and in good shape prior. That Premier League soccer player came back like 200 days later. Not an exact comparison, but a decent example. Fingers crossed that it's 50/50.

Jets draft positions: 2022 - #4, #10, #26, #36 2021 - #2, #14, #34 2019 - #3, etc... If you want to suffer through 4 years of ineptitude and incompetence in order to get Beane those sweet top draft picks, then go for it. Totally different world picking in the Top 5 every year vs being a winning team and picking in the 20s every year. But something tells me if this is how folks are reacting after 3 years of double-digit wins and deep playoff runs, then theyd be burning down One Bills Drive before Beane got his second draft of Top 5 picks.
-
Beane has never shied away from accountability. I dont care what Donte Whitner has to say about his interpretation of a sound bite. But more so, you're taking this banter way too seriously. Again, might be a sign to take a breather. Emotions are HIIIIIIIGH this week.

1. I think Singletary comes back cheap. The RB Free Agency market is loaded, and prices are coming down by the minute. And if not, I like Cook (and Hines). Cook was a draft pick, and Hines was acquired with another drafted RB. No loss there either way. 2. Definite need. Has been for 2-3 seasons. Inexcusable to not address. 3. I'm not giving up on Brown, yet. 4. Agreed, Shakir needs a chance at a promotion, AND we need to draft WR early. 5. DT. If we're bringing everyone back and Jones is healthy, I dont see too bad a hole there. 6. I think we do pay Edmunds. We'll see. 7. Safeties will be Hyde & Hamlin. We had drafted Hamlin and Johnson to replace Hyde and Poyer. As we found this year, Johnson aint it, but Hamlin wasnt too bad in his first year getting real reps. I know we're all disappointed right now and feeling bad, and Beane certainly has his work cut out for him, but I don't see so many glaring holes that they can't be addressed. Go all Offense in the draft (OL, OL, WR, OL,...), sign a couple guys, and let's roll.
-
That wasnt the topic. Unless Whitner mentioned which OL he wanted to draft last year. How genius of him to sit there and critique in hindsight when the team is down. But I'll note your vote for Donte Whitner for GM. For the record, I will always trust in Brandon Beane over Donte Whitner when it comes to team building. Or pretty much anything.
-
Maybe take a break during this extra-emotional week when you find yourself agreeing with Donte Whitner on how to be a GM. I'll stick with Beane.

Cameron Brate possible cut, should we sign him?
DrDawkinstein replied to The Jokeman's topic in The Stadium Wall
If we stuck to discussing players all offseason that would be a huge step up from the usual topics that dominate between Feb and June. -
The misuse of Cook and Hines was borderline criminal

You saw a screen?!? Gonna need a link because I dont even remember us attempting one. Screens, slants, etc dont exist to Dorsey/Allen. The best way to beat a blitz and slow down a pass rush is to hold the ball for 5 seconds while you wait for plays to develop 40 yards downfield.
