  1. He's still a franchise QB. I'm not a big fan or believer but he's definitely top half of the 32 starters, and that is simply the money those guys command. I dont think $20M less than Allen's guaranteed money is that far off from accurate. The Ravens' other option would be letting him walk for nothing which would be the worst case scenario for them. At the very least they need to tag and trade.
  2. Nothing in any part of this announcement should be considered transparent truth. It's all Management-Speak, and showing other candidates that the Bills Org doesnt throw coaches under the bus on their way out.
  3. Lamar doesnt have an agent, and is handling ever aspect of this himself. He majored in Communications, and did not graduate. So not sure how suited he is to run this, or make decisions.
  4. The amount isnt the issue, it's the guaranteed amount that is the issue. And outside of Kirk Cousins and Deshaun Watson, no other top QB has ever been fully guaranteed. Not Rodgers, not Brady, not Mahomes, not Allen. So given those lists, it seems the fully guaranteed only happens by bad or desperate teams. Neither of which I would use to describe the Ravens. Good for Lamar to get every penny he can out of the NFL. But he is close to leaving money on the table, like LeVeon Bell, over "principles".
  5. I'd be SHOCKED if McD took over play calling. I dont think that is the type of HC he is trying to be here. He wants to be more of the Team CEO who can step in when/where needed, but allows his direct reports to handle the bulk of it.
  6. Both sides of the ball failed hard that game. I'd say the Offense failed harder. That's all.
  7. But everyone saying we need to focus on building the Offense this offseason cites the fact that its a scoring league, and it isnt as much about stopping Offenses and keeping up with the scoring. Which we didnt do. And that is why we need to dedicate draft picks and FAs to the O side. Or no?
  8. It's a respectable way for a long-time professional to save face as he retires (or is forced into retirement). It is the opposite of the type of treatment Coaches received under Ralph for decades which went to put the org into a position we couldnt hire any quality coaches. Now they see this level of respect and will only help our image when it comes to attracting coaches.
  9. Bills fans got spoiled and are quickly turning in Pats Fans at record speed.
  10. Classic Bills Fan, getting exactly what we want and still complaining.
  11. His contract was supposedly up, and this is the best way to announce he isnt coming back without putting any negative spin on it.
  12. Thanks. WRT bold, hate to say it but this is where we miss Whaley. He had a knack for later LBs. Bradham, Johnson, Milano... For Beane and Co. trying to replace Edmunds through the draft means an early pick, and I'd say a 50/50 shot on hitting. I already wanted our first 3 picks to be IOL/IOL/WR, in whatever order necessary. I guess if we use the money to sign Ben Powers we could get away with only drafting 1 IOL early. Maybe have a draft of LB/IOL/WR, in that order. I dunno. I dont think it's that easy to pluck a playmaking LB from the draft as needed.
  13. Yeah, I use that term to also give him a bit more benefit of the doubt than a lot of us (myself included) have given him in the past. It is certainly a fairly unique role he plays, so it is tough to get a read on any real comparison or expectation. I was a huge detractor, but what brought me around at least a little bit was watching the extensive Cover1 videos discussing his responsibilities and the calls and decisions he has to make during a play. Not even between plays. In the middle of the play while it is coming right at him. It's a lot. Since not many other coaches are... "bold" (cough) enough to use this scheme, the best I've found is to compare him to Luke Kuechly. And if you look at Kuechley's first 5 years and compare them to Edmund's first 5 years, Tremaine is still greatly lacking. LK 12 Ints TE 5 Ints LK 4 Forced Fumbles TE 2 Forced Fumbles LK 9 sacks TE 6.5 sacks LK 42 Pass Defended TE 35 Pass Defended LK outranks him in just about every category over his first 5 years, I wont bother to list them all. You can see them in the links above.
  14. Agreed. It's all BS and his brains are going to be scrambled eggs regardless. He'll still end up with another concussion at some point next season, and if he's lucky it will only end his career and not cause permanent damage (probably too late on that too).
  15. Ha! Well, if you can guarantee me the choice is between Edmunds or Ben Powers, that makes it easier.
  16. I'm not so sure it is that simple. I agree Beane prefers to extend early. And I believe Beane made him a lower offer based on his level of play up to last season. But I think in this specific case, they gave him that year on the Option to prove his development. And doggone it, he did. So now it gets even tougher. We'll see.
  17. I understand fans wanting to have this line of thinking, but there is absolutely no solid, valid logic behind it. It doesnt matter what we are paying Milano when it comes to Edmunds contract. Just like when Milano was re-signing people werent saying "but we only pay Lorenzo Alexander $X amount". Milano's deal was in a much different time, for a different position, and had a player who was willing to take well below market in order to not complicate his life. It's an anomaly situation. Not a precedent.
  18. This must be the most difficult decision Beane has faced, because similar but opposite of you, I have been staunchly against re-signing him the last 4 years, but have changed my tune after this season. Edmunds play, and the fog of his responsibilities, makes it almost impossible for us to properly decide whether it is worth re-signing him or not. Couple that with the "what ifs" that pop up when discussing using that money on Offense instead. But there are no guarantees Beane will spend on Offense even if Edmunds walks. So... I have no clue.
  19. "Blacked out", aka high as fuuuuuuuuuuuuu Glad you're all good and didnt crash or even worse, end up in Alabama
  20. Good or nah?
  21. The 5/$100M deal Roquan Smith just signed has his cap hits as $9M and $13M the first 2 years because of the long term deal. Edmunds will likely sign a 5 or 6 year deal as well. So even if it is for $120M, his cap hit in 2023 should be under $10M. I urge everyone to take a good look at the structure of the Smith deal as an example of how we could bring Edmunds back cheaper than what he cost us this past year. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/roquan-smith-25103/
  22. Same way they gave it up last time we played TB. Being young and not playing D, and playing against a very experienced, talented team. But man, that ending in OT... Electrifying! Funny because Razor was just talking up Bushkin after the commercial break and saying what a great game he was having, and then a minute later there he goes on the breakaway. Yep, the amount of Hockey coverage available on ESPN+ has me watching Hockey every single night. (That and the fact the Sabres are fun to watch again) Major change from the last decade where I barely saw a single game. Going into this 3 game stretch, I thought if we got 1 pt out of Leafs/Lightning and could pull off a win in Miami then it would be a successful series. The Leaf game stunk but last night made up for it, and hopefully we can pull one off against the Panthers tonight!
