TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #34
DrDawkinstein replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
All good on the trade back. Just funny because everyone used to give BB ***** for all his trade backs, but it's tough sitting in the high 20s and having to pick non-1st round guys in the 1st round. Was always waiting for him to complete the ultimate trade back series and end up with every pick of the 7th round. As far as LBs are concerned, I'm not in love with Campbell. But I'd take any of Campbell/Simpson/Sanders here, and address OL next. I agree that none of the players are jumping off the page or that special, so I'm just filling roster holes at this point. -

Have we turned into Belichick so quickly? -
What TIME (ET) does the Bills pick ocvur?

Those were great days in my early 20s. Wake up, go right to the couch to turn on Draft coverage, order pizzas and wings at 10am, and settle in for the 48 hour marathon. -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #34

Specific player aside, we're currently looking at: MLB - 20 votes OT - 15 votes DT - 14 votes IOL - 11 votes WR - 9 votes Interesting. Didnt think LBs would score that high. Speaking that generally, I'd like to go OL (any OG/C/OT) at 34, then shift to defense at 59. Given the LBs and DTs left, we should be able to snag one there... EDIT: I take that last line back and am changing my vote. I think the LBs would both go between 34 and 59. So take one now. There will be OL available at 59. If not the OTs then there should be plenty of decent IOL to still choose from. Might even be able to get IOL in the 3rd. I'm going LB now. -

That's right. That is my opinion and the way I'm voting in this completely meaningless exercise. RT wont matter when we cant even get the ball to Josh. Maybe the new RT will be good at jumping on the fumbled ball rolling around. -

I dont want another "fill in" who cant get the snap to Josh as we're shuffling other guys out of position as well. I want to get Josh his new butt-buddy so they can build the familiarity asap, and have his one bum to touch for the rest of his career. RT is also a need, yes. -

Great story. Love me some Kurt Vonnegut. Also a great Snapcase song (some love for our local Buffalo boys!) I voted JMS. I'd put good money on the Bills needing a new starting Center by week 6 of this year. Morse has been running on borrowed time for 2 years already. -
Anyone from the last poll not picked yet (cough cough, JMS). Probably the LBs and any DTs left. Will take a look at specifics in a sec...

Ah, good call. I missed that @Beast made that first pick, and had since been fired, and you are actually the interim GM I was referring to. That makes more sense
-
Bad news. You arent able to make this 2nd round pick since every Yinzer in Western PA ran you out of town after you passed on Joey Porter Jr in the 1st round. Steelers are now going with an interim GM.

TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27

Ed is set to cost us $10M this year. DHOP's current contract would hit us for $19.5M. So at face value, a $9.5M add. But folks assume we could get Arizona to eat some of that. Either all $9.5M, or some portion. But if not, its a $9.5M additional cost to us. -

Right. And since most of this discussion, regarding a message board's choice for the Bills in the 3rd version mock drafts, is just for ***** and giggles, I am obviously being a bit cheeky on purpose. -

DrDawkinstein replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
True, good point. I dunno. Most years prior I've been saying he is by far the #1 WR in the league. He's fallen off a little as new blood comes in, but he could definitely help get us to the promise land. -

The other downside of that trade is by trading out of the 1st round, we lose the 5th year option on whoever we were going to draft. Could make a major difference in cap in a few years, and DHOP will likely be retired then. -

If Van Ness was such a step up, he wouldnt be available at 27. Or even past 15. -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27

The reality of it is, we've heard from multiple sources that there are only ~15 players with 1st round grades in this draft. That's pretty agreed upon across the board. Picking at 27, no matter WHO we draft, will be a reach and a pick that lots of folks will be able to easily find fault with. And if there is such low talent, it will guarantee that no one wants to move up so we can trade back. We just need to prepare ourselves for a lackluster 1st round pick. -

Folks can change their votes whenever they want. And will likely need to again after Virgil whittles down the options. It is interesting that there are 2 "trade" options and if combined, are the runaway winners. I hope we dont see that vote split and it go to Flowers if the majority actually want to trade back one way or another. Stop the steal. -

Lot of DT/DL talent in this draft. Grab one in Rd 2 or Rd 3. -
TSW Mock Draft 3.0 Poll - Who should the Bills take at #27

I dont remember which mock it was, I just know I was pissed we skipped IOL, and then in the next one I saw you making the same complaints. Great minds, and all... I'm not so much in love with JMS specifically, as much as I am pressing to address a critical need that we have been ignoring the last 3 years. We are one head-slap away from Morse retiring mid-game. He will miss time again this year. At this point of his career, it's pretty much a guarantee. We have to have our next Center ready, and I dont want to sabotage Josh even further by making him deal with jourenyman Centers for 3 seasons until we figure it out. Tippman works for me, or even Luke Wypler who some have as the #1 Center (although he is much smaller than we usually like). Not sold on Van Ness, at all. IMO, he is another Epenesa maybe worthy of a mid-late 2nd round pick. But that is this draft. Loaded with "2nd round" talent. Nolan Smith, maybe. But he looks a little small to deal with NFL Tackles... -

I dont remember that far back. I DO remember someone else getting pissed during the 1.0 Mock Draft that we again neglected to draft OL... -

No, Humphrey over Basham. The "game changing position" of another DE. Given the performance and injury history of our OL, I'd say drafting a starting Center IS a game-changing position. Maybe JMS could have managed to get the snap to Josh in the Vikings game? I've already said I'm all good with trading back and getting the Center then. My current vote is to Trade Back. But I think a trade back is unlikely in reality. -

I would NOT do 27 and Oliver for DHOP. We need to get that #34 pick back. Can't lose 2 young players for a high priced 1-2 year rental. -

I'm fine with uninspriring when it means getting a lynchpin for our OL for the rest of Josh's career. Agreed it's a bit of a reach, but in this draft, anyone taken at 27 is going to be 2nd round talent. Should have been Creed Humphrey. Should have been Tyler Linderbaum. Taking IOL is never exciting, but it sure is satisfying. I did end up voting for the trade back with DHOP. We could probably get JMS at 34 as well. So I'd be fine with it. -

JOHN MICHAEL SCHMITZ or the trade back with Arizona for DHOP, and can probably pick up JMS/Tippman/Wypler at 34. Bills fans are nuts if they are voting Flowers. Another too-small Parrish/McKenzie.
