  1. I should not have laughed as hard as I did at this. Well done.
  2. Ah, word. Completely agree with the bold. I'd rather roll the dice on a rookie with a rookie contract than pay big money to the mid tier guys.
  3. 25 years ago had all the same modern FA structure. You'd have to go to the mid-90s to get past when the Salary Cap and FA modernized. But sure, I'll give you just the last 10 years. That's 2. Again, not quite a strong argument with just 20%. It makes sense that it should be easier for teams ith QBs on rookie contracts. The logic is clear. But it doesnt seem to play out that way when it comes to results.
  4. Foles wasnt on a rookie contract in 2017. It was already his 6th season and he was back to Philly on a FA contract. But that is 2 QBs (Wilson '13, Mahomes '19) who won the Super Bowl while still on their rookie contract in the last 20 years. I guess if we said 25 years, that gets Brady in there for 3. But 3 in 25 years isnt much better. Doesnt seem to be a big correlation between QBs on rookie deals and winning Super Bowls.
  5. Oh, I thought you were talking about teams that picked another QB while they had one on the roster already. But to the point of success with a QB on a rookie contract, how many/which teams have won a Super Bowl with a QB on a rookie contract in the last 20 years?
  6. Why is Burrow mentioned in this group?
  7. Exactly how the Bears valued Moore since they pushed for him over a 2025 1st. I think its a great move for the Bears and said as much in another post. I was just surprised at the compensation after a couple of crazy years of big hauls to move up. I'm thinking like what Philly gave up to get Wentz, Rams to get Goff, type of deals. To get up to #1, I expected a big pile of 1sts and 2nds. But good for both teams. Chicago gets a great WR for Fields and a handful of decent picks to work with. Better than just that #1 overall in a weak draft.
  8. I'm not much of a Fields fan, definitely not a big believer, but I think it's the right move to stick with him now and build around him as best they can. And this move supports that greatly. There just isnt a Luck/Manning/Elway guy in this draft. If there were, then I'd say they must pick him - and they probably would. There isnt even a Bosa/Bruce DE, or amazing LT they can pick. Trading down is the right move here, imo.
  9. It's a one in the hand is worth two in the bush thing. As a GM, trading for a pick 2 years from now is nice, but I may not have a job in 2 years to use it. Plus, they arent helping right now and maybe not right away even then.
  10. That's the thought. Unless we get another "Baker Mayfield" genius type decision. Compensation seems light to me. I guess since they are staying in the top 10 it isnt so bad, but all they got extra was another 1st, a 2nd, an equivalent 4th (2 yr 2nd), and WR Moore. Surprised they couldnt milk more from Indy.
  11. Cant wait until next year, you have to do it by May of the year before. I agree its nuts to pick it up and count on him past this season (or even counting on him making it through this season).
  12. And Im not sure it even needs to be all 32 teams. I think even 2 teams talking and agreeing on limits or structure would trigger some action by the NFLPA.
  13. Stafford has 130,000,000 guaranteed reasons to come back tho It's a worse deal than paying Lamar $270M fully guaranteed imo because of how old and beat up Stafford was when they signed it. Lamar has been injured, but at least he should have 5 more years playing ahead of him. Stafford barely had 5 months left.
  14. BillsMafia is IN THEIR FEELINGS this offseason Gonna be a long one...
  15. It would be a very Bears-y thing to do to sign Edmunds for same/more money than Roquan Smith, who was already on the team and they traded away because they didnt want to pay him. Especially with Smith being the better player.
  16. I literally said 50 out of 53 of the Bills players didnt show up and I am condemning them. So nah, no excuses just because theyre Bills. I just look at this situation like any adult should and not through the lens of middle school social media. You all are reading too much into it. Way more than any of the actual players, who are the ones who really matter. Milano and Edmunds. I dont want to bash Josh, but we didnt get Focused Josh let alone Angry Josh who we saw in last year's Kansas City game. We got tired, dejected, over-it Josh. Dont read underneath Josh. Bomb-Bomb-Sack-Punt Josh. I dont put that all on him necessarily. I think he was being poorly advised to continue to only go deep. Whether that was Dorsey, or doctors based on elbow injury, or what, I dont know. But I'm pretty sure that is EXACTLY what Diggs was addressing when he told Josh "Stop listening to him!". The entire team was flat, tired, and over it. You can see it in the way Josh is sitting on that bench when Diggs was yelling to him. He was just done.
  17. Again, sounds a lot like yall are looking for reasons to be upset. He left after the game, and the season, were over. There was nothing left to do, except... what? Hold hands in the locker room and say "lets try again next year" after 99% of the team just acted like THEY didnt want to be there? Watching that Cincy game it is clear that Diggs is one of maybe 3 players that DID want to be there, and actually came to play. I'm more concerned with the rest of the team that quit on him.
  18. Yeah, I get you. JoPoy and I were probably just getting too technical/literal with that part. Although, there is a difference between athletic standards and compensation. The reason the collusion talk comes up at all here is because this is exactly where they try to protect against it the most. Being too small or too slow to make the team is directly performance based. It's measurable and objective, and defendable. Contracts arent cut and dry and totally based on performance, they're subjective, and based on what is negotiated. Anyways - I agree in general that there doesnt have to be a grand conspiracy behind no one wanting to offer him $270M fully guaranteed. It's just a bad idea. But we'll see. He can start getting offers next Wednesday (and I believe every team that said they werent in on Jackson ARE in fact in on Jackson).
  19. I know it isnt exactly the same, but I'd argue that Diggs' behavior is more like Phelps than what posters here think it is. Here is the big, horrible, "screaming", "event" by the way: That's it. Less than 10 seconds. Like 3-4 of the same line. From 10 feet away. With his helmet on. As he's walking by. THAT is the big diva meltdown attack?!? And supposedly Diggs was yelling "Stop listening to him!" Which, if Diggs is referring to the advisement to throw it deep every play, and keep going bomb-bomb-sack-punt... Diggs aint wrong. I think we were all yelling the same thing at that time. IMO, he's trying to get Josh to throw a couple balls to him, not because he wants attention or needs targets, but because he knows it will help Josh and the offense settle down, find a rhythm, and maybe put a drive together.
  20. 3min 11sec mark "CATCH THIS MOTHERFU$%ER! CATCH THIS MOTHERFU$%ER!" on international TV. All words of encouragement, just like Diggs had for Josh. Phelps doesnt really think anyone is a MFer. Those sisters? Absolutely. He didnt treat anyone like crap tho. Seriously. Yall need to not be so sensitive. None of the Bills care about it nearly as much as the bored fans.
  21. Because they have league/ownership rules, a collective bargaining agreement, and a labor union to deal with. It's not surprising that theyd want to (and I agree with them), but it is against the established rules to do so.
  22. Id say Diggs handled the backlash very well. He made two simple comments in response. What part is there to argue with or condemn?
  23. Called out by who that matters? And dont ever compare Diggs to JA Morant. Especially in light of recent events. Diggs is no where near that. Save your "kids these days" generation rant for the AARP board gramps! Almost none of that applies to Diggs' sideline outburst situation. The kids didnt invent participation trophies, the Gen X/Boomer parents did. Keep that in mind.
  24. For sure. It was a great value contract the day it was signed, let alone 3 years later.
