Ha! Honestly, I dont think Beane even saw it before the Harty signing. McKenzie was smart enough to not tag anyone in the tweet, so it probably didnt hit Beane's radar. But could be. I did think it was a bold (dumb) move to call out your GM in the middle of a very busy, stressful time for GMs. Even if Beane did see it, I'm sure he didnt give it much more reaction than the eyeroll and huff most of us did.

Yeah, the Jets are stacked. Of course, sucking so bad you get 20 picks in the top 80 across multiple years certainly helps. Not like the GM had to do anything special to acquire guys like Sauce. They were just payoffs of his previously bad decisions. Same thing happened with the Bengals and they just saw their first mass exodus, and they havent even paid Burrow or Chase yet. So... 🤷♂️ I do think, with Allen and Burrow, the Bills and Bengals are setup for far greater long term consistent success than the Jets trying to get one good year out of Rodgers before it all falls apart.

If you dig around in the comments and threads, he goes on to say he had his best years under Dak.
-
There could not be a more fitting end to perfectly encapsulate McKenzie's time here, than him popping off on twitter for Beane to "do something" immediately followed by Beane signing his replacement and cutting him. 🤣 All the best to Lil Dirty.
-
I bagged on him enough while he was on the team, so I'll just wish him the best going forward. Going to the Giants makes sense for both sides. Onward and upward!

I dont want to start a whole thread about Cole Beasley and his tweeting because, well, we all know why. But the Allen disrespect here...
-
Maybe but I doubt it. I think Beane always had him valued around this number, which is what offended Jordan (and mostly Rachel) last year. Then they hit the market and came back and took the lower offer. I think Beane always had him at about $6-7M and that is where he should be given his age.
-
Well I had the terms a little off, but nailed the numbers! And for my prize, I'm taking the rest of the day off from work (because I have no more meetings scheduled today).

What's on your Mt. Rushmore of Sitcoms?

GREAT call on Roseanne. That original run was such a great show. Amazing writing room (RIP Norm MacDonald). -

Seinfeld The Office It's Always Sunny Cheers There are a lot of other good/great ones I love, but those are the 4 top that I think had the most historic impact as well. Honorable Mentions: 30 Rock Parks & Rec The Good Place Brooklyn 99 Community Frazier And all the other great ones listed in this thread. edit: this one doesnt deserve to be on the Mount, but The Last Man on Earth was great and really hitting it's stride when they pulled the plug on that one. I believe it is on Hulu. If anyone is looking for something new to watch. Will Forte is so good in it. -
Ha! Good catch, I guess my brain remembered the Pats being in the hunt at the end and forgetting the Ravens snuck in, and the Chargers are just so forgettable Either way, I could still see all 3 teams make it and the Pats sitting out. See you at the parade!!
-
The funnest part is, it'll be the Pats falling on their faces. 3 AFC East teams made it in last year, I could see it happening again, but with the Pats staying home. And I'm there for every second of it, as they circle the bowl.

Thanks, Albert. Besides Montana being completely irrelevant for how the league has changed since... Now do Bledsoe, Rivers, Matt Ryan...
-
Traded to who, for what? That's a nice wish, but in reality you need a team willing to make that trade, and willing to offer something worthwhile. No GM is perfect 100% of the time. The best ones hit at a rate slightly above 50% (and we have one of the better ones). Life has too many variables at play from so many different angles. It's easy to sit in hindsight and bag on past decisions, but at the time, letting him play out was the best choice.

4/$64M is much larger than anything we're able to hand out this year. It isnt about effort or philosophy, it's literally math and budgeting. This is a nice thought, but nearly impossible in reality. EVERY team would like to add 1 good starter to the line every year. Players moving from team to team make that a wash since someone is losing as someone gains. That means you need 32 good starters being added to the league, every year, if you expect GMs to live up to that "low" standard. We certainly do not get 32 good starters out of the draft each year. Maybe 10 at best. That means every year, over 2/3rds of the teams are failing to meet your low standard. While GMs should certainly be trying to add OL talent every year, the chance of hitting on them just doesnt add up to your expectation.
-
That was certainly proven last year. Would be nice to go back to having the fewest injuries in the league again.
-
We missed on extending/re-signing him because up until his 5th/last year, he simply was not WORTHY of being extended or re-signed. Even if we could've gotten a deal a couple years ago and locked him in at $15M/year, his play on the field said even that wouldve been overpaying. Unfortunately, this is as much on the player as it is on Beane, if not more so.
-
Most likely because they are low. All the details you see come out at this time are released by the agents, almost never the team. So it sounds like Jordan and Rosenhaus are saving some face on this one and emphasizing the "2 year" part but not the money amount.
-
You guys were both saying the same thing. After next season is 2024. Time flies! This is his last year either way. I still wish they could get Hyde and Poyer synced up, which they might have if this "2 year" deal for Poyer is really 1+Void.
-
Pretty much what you'd expect out of a 2nd year 7th round pick. But the kid lives and breathes football, and has his whole life. He has been a huge part of the Pittsburgh football scene since he was a little kid. The coverage and mental part will come with time. I wouldnt write him off yet. (Assuming he does come back and has a career)
-
If he intends to, then Beane has to expect it in order to manage the roster and cap accurately. Expect it until they hear otherwise at this point.
-
He was far better than Johnson, who has had more years in the system. This was Damar's 2nd year, and he was thrown into the mix, and then all of a sudden our most tenured Safety. Give him another year to develop behind Poyer and Hyde. Poyer had 4 full seasons before he became a Bill.

Check out Poyer's stats at the same point in his career.

Theyre also not going to go that long carrying a $50M+ cap hit which is preventing them from signing a bunch of players they need. Unless they are ready to tank the whole season. Which could be a thing.
