Then they shouldve been QBs. -
RB$ circling the wagons for fellow RBs
DrDawkinstein replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Play 3 years and you are vested into NFL healthcare for life. Taxes and agent fees will come out right about 40%. So still leaves me with $7M+. A $5M principal nest egg should give anyone a salary of $200k (or more) a year for the rest of your life. For doing nothing. Better off then 99% of us civilians. edit: Federal Taxes will be about 36.5%. The blended State Tax rate will be about 5%. Agent fee cannot be more than 3%. So that is 44.5%. For the sake of discussion, let's call it 45%. $15M - 45% = $8,250,000 For the sake of discussion, let's call it $8M At an ultra conservative 3% draw, that principal generates $240k/yr. Forever. Plus anything over 3% generated by my investments gets added onto the principal. Maybe I can't live like a show-off diva baller. But my family and I can definitely live comfortably for a loooong time. -

I'm all about players milking every penny they can out of the NFL, but all this crying about being "devalued" to $8-10M/yr instead of $20M/yr is absolutely ridiculous. I'll take $5M a year on a 3 year contract and be set for life. And my kid's life. (and probably my grandkids lives) Thank you. Well not necessarily since that's what unions are for. And the owner needs the workers far more than the workers need the owner. But I agree with you in general, and to further your point, the players already have a union, and a decent Collective Bargaining Agreement. Most of these guys in question have a MINIMUM of over $1M thanks to the union and CBA. I'd happily take the minimum of $1.08M to hang around and work out with my friends all day. Heck, I'd take it to keep grinding in my 9-5! -

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/leveon-bell-apologizes-to-steelers-fans-for-leaving-pittsburgh Hey Saquon, I'll just leave this here. I always cheer for the players to get as much money out of the league as possible. Just not sure this is the right path for Barkley to get it. -
Late Mergers/Lane Changers: Do You Let Them In?
DrDawkinstein replied to Gugny's topic in Off the Wall
I was in a lane that had cars zipper merging into it on I-20 here in Atlanta. Everyone was being good about going every-other car. But when it came time for my turn to let a car in, the merging car in question had a huge Miami Dolphins decal taking up the entire back windshield. I crept up and locked onto the bumper of the car in front of me and didnt let the Dolphins fan in. When I got next to him he had the window down, flipping me off and yelling, I rolled my window down and yelled "GO BILLS!". Dude just started laughing, shook his head, and backed off and got in behind me. Worth it. -
Andrew Luck will be eligible for the HOF in 2024
DrDawkinstein replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Absolutely not. If Luck makes it then Fitz absolutely should make it. -
Mentioned this earlier in the thread, Josh made almost the same exact play around that same time in the game. Except with his cannon arm he was able to rope it and get the ball there like a full second earlier, avoiding the safety coming over the top and picking it off as opposed to McCorkle's duck. It was awesome that the broadcast then put the plays up side by side and picked apart McCorkle's weak ass throw.

The difference being the broken leg was Wood's rookie season and isnt an "injury prone" type injury vs Hyde/Poyer both being into their 30s and getting lots of soft tissue injuries mounting up over the years. NO ONE is saying Hyde/Poyer were injury prone over their career. But let's face facts, they are on the wrong side of 30 and playing one of the most violent positions in an already violent game. The thought that they'll both go injury free is simply naive. I dont want them to miss games. I'm not knocking them for missing games. The reality is they are old and coming off major injuries. The FO and coaches better have a better plan for when they do miss games than they had last year. It was doubly great because Josh made a similar (but much better) throw that actually went for a TD, and it allowed the commentators to discuss the vast differences between a stud like Allen vs a noodle-arm like McCorkle live and in real time.

McDermott & Beane Extended Through 2027
DrDawkinstein replied to BritBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I've had a side-eye on McD for the past year, but I'm all for stability. Especially with a duo who has performed as well as they have. On a side note: I wonder if McD would ever be open to a “promotion” to President of Football Operations, like Parcells. Have the HC and GM answer to him. Terry takes a further step back to focus on family. Get a new, fiery HC in. -
And then you have Brandolini's Law at play as well. Brandolini's law, also known as the bullsh!t asymmetry principle, is an internet adage coined in 2013 that emphasizes the effort of debunking misinformation, in comparison to the relative ease of creating it in the first place. The law states the following: The amount of energy needed to refute bullsh!t is an order of magnitude bigger than that needed to produce it

Sure, we could all come up with ridiculous scenarios that would fit within "under the right circumstance". And it would likely have to be one of those ridiculous, not-happening scenarios. @MJS posted a good one on the previous page. 10 1sts and Mahomes would probably get it done. Maybe even just the 10 1sts. Likely tho?

I mean, pretty much everything/everyone is available to trade "under the right circumstances". Except maybe Josh. But yes, as the old business saying goes, "Everything is for sale at the right price". It's not on the players to address every stupid rumor that the talking heads come up with in order to generate clicks in June. Fans should be smarter, but...

To all the Fire McDermott Posters, a follow up question..
DrDawkinstein replied to ChicagoRic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the difference through all of the Reid/Philly/KC stuff is: in Philly he never had a true star QB. And in KC, it was more of the same middling success with the likes of Alex Smith. It wasnt until Reid got Mahomes that he started winning big consistently. At least he's winning like he's supposed to. But McD has a Mahomes. He isnt stuck with a McNabb/Smith. So not winning big consistently falls squarely on the coaching here imo. -

I dont necessarily think the SB victory was automatic, but I do see that year as our easiest shot so far and possibly ever. Not saying we can't win one, but it will likely be tougher than 2021 Bills vs 2021 Bengals-Rams. Probably easier than during those drought years! I doubt a Bill Cowher is passing the buck to a Chan Gailey on an opportunity to be a part of this team.
