  1. Well he says he was hit by another jet ski/driver. So that would confirm both sides here. 1. he was just sitting on the jet ski but 2. there was definitely horse play by the group. I'd bet the other jet ski was trying to splash him, like snowing a goalie, and miscalculated.
  2. "Not gonna make it"?!?!? Dude won the Heisman in college, was drafted #2 overall, is on his 8th season in the NFL, and has career earnings over $64M so far. What more does he need to do in your opinion? I dont think he's even a top-20 QB in the league, and he'll never win anything. But I think on a personal level, he's "made it". Far better than most of us at least.
  3. I'm late to this - started watching this weekend and am 3 episodes in. My observations so far: I like they have 3 different levels of QB being featured. You get to see it from all perspectives. I'm mad at Neflix for making me like Kirk Cousins. I'm still not a huge fan, but he comes across pretty well in this. He owns his dorkiness and I can respect that. I also like his hidden memorabilia room so he can keep collecting his stuff but not make it look corny. Speaking of Cousins, episode 3 focusing on how injured his ribs were and how much he was struggling in the game against the Bills only further serves to show how much Frazier needed to go. The guy is struggling just to talk to people, and we can't get hits on him. All in all tho, I'm really enjoying the show. And it's been nice to finally start feeling like the same fan I was in the 80s/90s, where I could watch stuff about other players and teams without being so bitter. For me, that is due to having a top QB and a top team again. I can watch this stuff and just enjoy it as a fan of the game knowing our guys are featured with respect, and we'll have another shot this year. I dont mind Mahomes off the field. I think he is becoming my new Dan Marino. Respected him, was fine with him off field as a real person, hated him while we were playing him and loved to beat him. Mahomes seems like a good dude and pretty humble given his upbringing and rocket to stardom.
  4. Injury bug starting this early? Ugh.
  5. Especially when juxtaposed with all the talk of how devalued and unimportant the RB position has become. We have enough horses already with those 4. Beane should be focusing on pretty much any other part of the roster.
  6. You did it right in your OP. The NFL is just a bunch of greedy bastards.
  7. I also dont understand what letting thim in a year or two earlier would fix? The position isnt valued. They would just be younger when they were done with their rookie contract and not getting a 2nd deal. Getting there sooner doesnt make the position more valuable in today's NFL.
  8. So everyone declares as a RB and then moves back to their real position after they get drafted? I appreciate the brainstorming, but I dont see how there could be any position-specific rules on any of this. The market is the market. If RBs are underpaid, don't be a RB.
  9. Not "the best thing", but rather "another factor to consider". Yes, Rodgers is a better deal. But your own question implies deciding which is the WORST. So yes. Rodgers' contract is better than Jones', but IMO, Jones' deal is better than Carr's. And if Daboll can get the same level of performance out of Jones, I think it will be better than what the Saints' staff gets out of Carr.
  10. The CBA has the players getting 48% of league revenue. We could certainly argue that the players deserve more than 50%, but the players agreed to this amount. How it gets divided up after that per position shouldn't matter. You can't start changing rules about drafting and rookie contracts for just one position. The league is always changing and evolving and cycling through trends. Positional values change. You are only making some millions, and want more millions? Change positions.
  11. Another thing to consider is how quickly teams can get OUT of each of these contracts. The Jets are locked into Rodgers for the next 2 years, but can get out of it with no dead cap hit after that. The Ravens are locked into Jackson for the ENTIRETY of the 5 years, PLUS 2 more void years to lessen cap hits (yikes!). The Giants are pretty much locked into Jones for only 2 years, and then can get out of it pretty easily. The Saints have 3 years before they can affordably get out of Carr's contract, but also have a void year added to defer cap hits. Given that info, Jones has the most team-friendly contract. And the Giants are best able to change course. So IMO, the Giants are the least likely to regret their deal since even if Jones stinks, they arent locked in. The Ravens and Saints have the biggest risks getting stuck with a contract they cant get out of. So I'm sticking with my vote of the Saints.
  12. I think Carr is a marginally better QB than Jones, but I think Dabol will get more out of Jones than Dennis Allen/Pete Carmichael will get out of Carr. I dont think Baltimore will regret the Jackson contract this year. They probably will in a couple years, but not this year.
  13. The NFL recently opened it up to allow a second helmet. Not sure if there are any rules around how many times they can use them, but I'm sure it works like the other uniform changes where it is all planned out ahead of time.
  14. Play 3 years and you are vested into NFL healthcare for life. Taxes and agent fees will come out right about 40%. So still leaves me with $7M+. A $5M principal nest egg should give anyone a salary of $200k (or more) a year for the rest of your life. For doing nothing. Better off then 99% of us civilians. edit: Federal Taxes will be about 36.5%. The blended State Tax rate will be about 5%. Agent fee cannot be more than 3%. So that is 44.5%. For the sake of discussion, let's call it 45%. $15M - 45% = $8,250,000 For the sake of discussion, let's call it $8M At an ultra conservative 3% draw, that principal generates $240k/yr. Forever. Plus anything over 3% generated by my investments gets added onto the principal. Maybe I can't live like a show-off diva baller. But my family and I can definitely live comfortably for a loooong time.
  15. I'm all about players milking every penny they can out of the NFL, but all this crying about being "devalued" to $8-10M/yr instead of $20M/yr is absolutely ridiculous. I'll take $5M a year on a 3 year contract and be set for life. And my kid's life. (and probably my grandkids lives) Thank you. Well not necessarily since that's what unions are for. And the owner needs the workers far more than the workers need the owner. But I agree with you in general, and to further your point, the players already have a union, and a decent Collective Bargaining Agreement. Most of these guys in question have a MINIMUM of over $1M thanks to the union and CBA. I'd happily take the minimum of $1.08M to hang around and work out with my friends all day. Heck, I'd take it to keep grinding in my 9-5!
  16. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/leveon-bell-apologizes-to-steelers-fans-for-leaving-pittsburgh Hey Saquon, I'll just leave this here. I always cheer for the players to get as much money out of the league as possible. Just not sure this is the right path for Barkley to get it.
  17. I was in a lane that had cars zipper merging into it on I-20 here in Atlanta. Everyone was being good about going every-other car. But when it came time for my turn to let a car in, the merging car in question had a huge Miami Dolphins decal taking up the entire back windshield. I crept up and locked onto the bumper of the car in front of me and didnt let the Dolphins fan in. When I got next to him he had the window down, flipping me off and yelling, I rolled my window down and yelled "GO BILLS!". Dude just started laughing, shook his head, and backed off and got in behind me. Worth it.
  18. Would be so expensive given the price tag the NFL puts on it's footage.
  19. Something is definitely up. Unless Labatt just happens to have a bunch of red helmets laying around.
  20. Absolutely not. If Luck makes it then Fitz absolutely should make it.
  21. We can't cut Mitch Morse. We SHOULD be cutting Mitch Morse, and we SHOULD be letting Creed Humphrey step into the spot. But we can't cut Mitch Morse.
  22. Mentioned this earlier in the thread, Josh made almost the same exact play around that same time in the game. Except with his cannon arm he was able to rope it and get the ball there like a full second earlier, avoiding the safety coming over the top and picking it off as opposed to McCorkle's duck. It was awesome that the broadcast then put the plays up side by side and picked apart McCorkle's weak ass throw.
  23. The difference being the broken leg was Wood's rookie season and isnt an "injury prone" type injury vs Hyde/Poyer both being into their 30s and getting lots of soft tissue injuries mounting up over the years. NO ONE is saying Hyde/Poyer were injury prone over their career. But let's face facts, they are on the wrong side of 30 and playing one of the most violent positions in an already violent game. The thought that they'll both go injury free is simply naive. I dont want them to miss games. I'm not knocking them for missing games. The reality is they are old and coming off major injuries. The FO and coaches better have a better plan for when they do miss games than they had last year. It was doubly great because Josh made a similar (but much better) throw that actually went for a TD, and it allowed the commentators to discuss the vast differences between a stud like Allen vs a noodle-arm like McCorkle live and in real time.
