Bears CB Jaylon Johnson Requests to be Traded
DrDawkinstein replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
Disagree. The talent is there. It's up to Dorsey and Allen to use them. As evidence by the performance of Davis, Shakir, and Kincaid last game. Any and all of those guys can and should be our #2. And #3. And #4. -

That was the McKissic/Commanders/Rivera drama with Beane and the Bills. Beane put his talks with Wallace on hold to try to get some Offensive help, and was working a deal with McKissic. When McKissic agreed, Beane slated that money for McKissic and dropped the Wallace talks and he got scooped by Pittsburgh. Then at the last second, McKissic's camp goes back to the Commanders FO who decide to match our offer, and McKissic decides to stay in Washington. Beane was PISSED. Angriest I've ever seen him at a presser, which isnt saying much, but seeing anything from him made it clear it was a big deal. -

I'd honestly be fine with getting both. -

The Bills leaking it to the media and then their local podcaster scene, with the threat of having to stay in Chicago, is great strategy for bringing his price down. -

And I guarantee it was a team that leaked that to the media -

I've seen a lot of people say this, and I get where you all are coming from. But the more I think about it every time I see it, I'm starting to think it really COULD be the difference. It's about defending the pass nowadays, we all know that. And adding a new #1 CB will make a much bigger difference than adding a #3. And if they can move the needle just a bit on a defense that has been performing well amidst our offensive struggles, then yeah, this could be a key piece to a championship. -
I dont want to know what his candle will smell like

It seems to be a mystery to me as well. Until I realize, it's the Bears. -

One small nit: Smith did not have a deal in place at time of trade. He was traded at the deadline, and did not sign his new contract until January. And that was with having to deal with Smith's non-certified "agent" Saint Omni, and getting past that. My point is, it's possible to get it done later. -

You arent going to get him from the Bears for what he's worth on just the rental contract, so signing him to an extension is assumed, and his trade price will reflect that no matter what. So it sweetens the deal for the Bears. Maybe make it two 3rds, 2024 conditional to a 2nd if/when he signs an extension, and the 2025 pick goes away on the extension as well. Either way, gotta juice it up so the Bears feel like they are getting a lot no matter what. -

Elam and two 3rds. With the 2024 3rd being conditional to a 2nd if we sign him to a long term deal, and the 2025 3rd conditional to a 2nd based on crazy (unlikely) stats. Final offer -

Adams to 9ers and Johnson to Bills both make a lot of sense. Which means neither will happen. -
sucked in to Brewster's Millions - er, Brewster's $400?

Considering that most thrift shops have gone fully mainstream/commercial and are no longer the great places to find deals that they once were, I'm confident you will be able to spend that money. Most items we see at Goodwill now are priced as if they were BRAND NEW. It's ridiculous. I'm sure some decent stores still exist out there, but long gone are the days of finding a haul of vintage Tshirts and Button-downs for $10-20 total. Now, every item is $20 itself. Keep me posted on how it goes in your area! -

I was torn between Clements and Winfield. Voted Clements just because. How soon? It's been 50 years since he made a pro bowl! -

I agree that would likely be the best move for the franchise in a vacuum. I'm just not sure the Bears want to deal with an unhappy Tagged player who absolutely does NOT want to be there and will likely hold out and be a distraction all offseason, on top of all the other culture issues and drama they are facing as a losing team. I think they'd be very motivated to get something for him and move on. But it's also the Bears, so who knows... -

I can, since it is by far our biggest need, and Beane has never shied away from making double picks. At least, he better. -

We're about to have to draft a CB in the 1st next year anyways. Might as well get a guy who we know can play. We should also be freeing up a bunch of CB money by releasing Tre. Git r dun -
Saw this on reddit and it made me think of this thread. Time sure flies... We are now 24 games into the 85 total regular season games spanning the 5-year life of Deshaun Watson's record-breaking $230M guaranteed contract. In addition to $230M guaranteed, the Browns depleted their future draft capital by giving up three 1st-round picks, one 3rd-round pick, and two 4th-round picks. Watson hasn't played much due to the suspension that was expected, but also due to recent injuries. When he has played, his performance has been sub-par. The timeline below, summarizes his contribution at a high-level. 28% of the $230M contract has led to the following... Watson has played in only nine full games out of the first 24 games of his contract. 9 of 13 post-suspension. 28% of the $230M has led to the team winning only five games with Watson on the field. In Watsons 10 total games, he delivered an above league average ANY/A only two times. Thats right...aside from the fact that he hasn't played much, 80% of the time he has played, his performance was below average.
