  1. Serious question: Has McD ever had anyone but the MLB calling the D? Both the PS player and the original team have methods of preventing poaching. The big one being it's up to the player whether they go or not. Kirksey already knows he wont be on our PS for long, and he chose the Bills when he was on the open market. Chances of him leaving via PS are extremely low.
  2. Dont "Peter Principle" Milano. Just let him keep doing his thing.
  3. It's not about the top skilled. No Milano last year or previously. We removed Taiwan Jones and Edmunds. We added Gabe Davis.
  4. If he goes off big enough to help win us a Super Bowl then I will happily help him carry his huge Free Agency check to the bank.
  5. https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/houston-texans-53-man-roster-cutdown-day-christian-kirksey-demeco-ryans Seems like new coach wanted to make some changes.
  6. He had a few years of overlap with Poyer in Cleveland. Wonder if there is a relationship there and if that will help bring him along.
  7. Any player on the PS can also be "protected" by the original team elevating them to the active roster once they are notified of the outside claim. I believe they have to stay there for a certain amount of time as well. edit, doing some googling on assigning protection: "As of 2020, NFL practice squad rosters can consist of a maximum of 16 players. Six of those players can have unlimited NFL experience, and every Tuesday, each NFL team can protect four players from being signed to another NFL team's active roster"
  8. Given he chose the Bills while a FA, I'd imagine that choice would stick. 🤞
  9. I believe PS players have the ability to decide to stay with the team/on the PS if someone does try to get him. Kinda like Free Agents.
  10. With the Ifedi and Kirksey signings, I love being wrong!
  11. Week 1 would be great, but I'd also be fine with him coming in around Von's return, week 5 or 6.
  12. Very happy to see this. I didnt expect Beane to go after much of anyone. But I'm pleasantly surprised with Ifedi and now Kirksey
  13. To Beck's point, there is an old saying: "You dont pay a prostitute for sex, you pay them to leave". Meaning, the payment makes it a true business transaction with no other strings, drama, expectations, etc attached. Many professional ladies are even willing to sign NDAs which adds a huge layer of security for the player. Dating, feelings, drama, etc just lead to bad situations for these guys. Going with the pros is definitely the smarter move.
  14. Does Whitlock understand what he is describing here is technically Sex Trafficking.
  15. Major part of growing up in WNY. Drinking age is only 19, and it was quicker/easier to get to the Fort Erie clubs than anything downtown (which we couldnt get into at 19 anyways). It's a rite of passage for many young men in Buffalo.
  16. Sorry, Mama HappyDays, but I never said he did. That is why I didnt directly quote him or directly tag him. I already responded directly to him on that previous page. In your quoted post I used parts of his argument, along with what Badol has been saying in other threads, and a couple others posters have been saying. That is why I said "folks". It's not just one poster who is on the wrong side of the Center position. (not in the PPP way!)
  17. Oh for sure, I would assign the majority of the blame to Josh on that right now. However, when we have folks saying that Center isnt that important, they just need to snap the ball to the QB... And we just lost a game due to a mishandled snap... I can't help but wonder if Josh is a little more calm taking that snap from a young, strong, non-injured, known road-grader like Humphrey.
  18. Might have won the Vikings game last year with a different Center.
  19. Tough to say either of the bolded statements when Humprhey could have played OG for us his rookie year which would have been an immediate improvement in 2021, AND kept him off the Chiefs, so maybe that Chiefs playoff game plays out differently. Plus, we would not have had the need to sign Saffold. Failed day 3 picks is not why we have floundered in January. But failed Day 1 and 2 picks certainly contribute. Missing on a late 2nd round pass rusher, after you just drafted a DE with the pick prior, AND you need interior OL help, AND one of the top IOL prospects is sitting right there... is not as acceptable as you make it sound. Not saying fire the guy, but Beane does have to do better.
  20. The Chiefs have the coaching capable of bolstering their Offense and scheming them into over-performing. Not so much with the Bills. Not sure about bottom 10, but I'd say definitely bottom half.
  21. 2nd round is the SWEET spot for RB. Cant waste a 1st round on them, but the good ones are gone by the 3rd (unless you strike oil) Long line of 2nd round greats going back to Thurman Thomas. It would seem like much better value had we not wasted 2 3rds on other RBs.
  22. This entire line of discussion spawned off the post quoted above.
  23. I think we're just disagreeing on some details here. Yes, the picks were ultimately made by McD. But he was using the scouting reports and player info provided by Whaley and his team of scouts. The point I was refuting is this idea floating around that McD had some back-office channel to Beane, and Beane was feeding him info on players Beane liked. If you want to call 2017 players McWhaley players, I agree with that. But Beane had 0 part in that draft or bringing in Poyer and Hyde. With regards to Ragland vs Milano, Whaley also found Alonso, Nigel Bradham, and a few other decent late round LBs. That was like the ONE thing he was good at. The Ragland pick was the HC pushing him into picking a Thumper for his scheme, and he got the best Thumper available.
  24. Yes. I totally buy that for 2017, and it's the exact point I'm trying to make. McD in NO WAY was in secret contact with Beane who was employed at Carolina.
