  1. If Brandon Beane pulled a $12M done-deal off the table from our 2nd best offensive weapon over a couple of minor social media posts, then he deserves to be fired. But he didnt and wouldnt.
  2. Dude are you drunk? YOUR OWN quoted post in the screen shot is you jumping into the INJURY discussion, saying that the play has INJURY POTENTIAL because... Jason Kelce said it was grueling. That isnt good logic. Youre smart enough to know that. But way too stubborn to admit it at this point. Have a good night.
  3. What does that mean though? Worst in what way? Worst because it's very physical and difficult? Sure Worst because it's dangerous and players get injured often? Not at all, and that's not what Kelce meant. Which blows McD's stance out of the water. No it isnt. That isnt the discussion at all. McD and crew arent trying to ban it because it's grueling, or physically difficult. They are saying it is unsafe. For it to be unsafe, there should be examples of injuries caused by it by now. But there arent any injuries. Plenty of "safe" parts of football are also "grueling". No one is arguing that it isnt grueling, or that it isnt difficult. But it has NOT been proven to be "dangerous". Especially not to the OL.
  4. And I think you are completely wrong with the bold. Correlation does not equal causation. The reason he doesnt have an extension is because the 2 sides are still far apart in agreeing on a number. That is it. Nothing to do with social media. If Benford wanted $25M, he wouldnt have a deal done either. Even with no social media posts. If anyone thinks Beane is sabotaging negotiations with a star player, our 2nd best offensive weapon, and a guy he spent a 2nd round pick on, over MINIMAL social media posts, then yall just dont know business. Cook typing 3 not-even-full-words of "15 mill year" had ZERO effect on the talks between Beane and the agent. Cook posting 3 emojis in response to Barkley's contract news had ZERO effect on talks between Beane and the agent. Beane, luckily, is not as dumb or emotional as fans. He would not sandbag the team over some petty pride crap like all us jealous fans think he would.
  5. No I'm not. Did he just say that unprompted? Because it sounds like he's answering a question about the tush push. And it sounds like you are being purposely disingenuous. What does "worst" mean in that statement? We need the whole context that you are hiding. No one is saying it's an easy play. Everyone could tell it's grueling for those IOL the first time we saw it. But it's the same as a short yardage QB sneak. Especially for the IOL. There is zero evidence it is anymore dangerous than a QB sneak. edit: Here you go.... https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/jason-kelce-tush-push-sucks-for-the-center-but-is-a-difference-maker-for-the-eagles “For me, as a center, it sucks,” Kelce said. “It’s a grueling play where you’re going to get as low as possible . . . if I get grass on my facemask I probably did the play pretty good, because I got as low as possible and drove forward. If you get low and drive forward, it’s really hard for the defense to stop it.” But Kelce also said that he thinks the Eagles’ ability to pick up a yard in situations when other teams would punt is a massive advantage. “You know how big an advantage it is, essentially we’re saving ourselves a turnover, whether it’s a punt or whatever. So it’s such a difference-maker at the end of the day that you’re always willing to do that for your team,” Kelce said. Despite talk that the play should be outlawed, Kelce said it’s a great demonstration of what football is all about. “Football is a sport that comes down to physicality, aggression, our will versus your will for a yard — I think that sums up football pretty well to me,” Kelce said. “It’s a 92 percent chance. Other teams don’t run it at the same success rate. Maybe the Eagles just happen to be really, really good at it. Is it fair to punish a team just because they’re better at it than everyone else? I don’t think that’s fair.” Doesnt sound like he's campaigning for a ban that much. 🤷‍♂️
  6. We dont know. Beane could be at $8M and Cook at $15M. Or Beane could be at $11M and Cook could be willing to do $12.5M I can tell you it better NOT be a Pat Williams situation where we lost him over a difference of essentially NFL pocket change.
  7. If team(s) will pay it, and they will, it cant be that outrageous. I understand Beane/Bills having their number and sticking to it as well. But neither side is out of line. They just disagree a little.
  8. He singled it out because he was asked about it in an interview because it's a hot topic. He didnt just come up out of nowhere with an agenda to discuss the grueling nature of the tush push. He was asked what it's like and if it's as bad as it looks down there. And answered as expected.
  9. lol, accomplishments dont pay rent, nor do they feed grandkids. As a RB, Cook has ONE opportunity at securing generational wealth. Anyone with a bit of investment knowledge knows an extra $1M today means $10M 20-30 years from now. It's an absolutely ludicrous standard that jealous fans hold players to. For almost every one of the players in the NFL, it's a job. How often did you take well below market rate to architect a building just for the sake of "accomplishment"? edit to add: James' older brother Dalvin's career is over. Feels like he's been around forever. He had a pretty decent career and was a good player in his day. But now he's done.... He's ONLY 29 YEARS OLD. For most of us old men on this board, we consider that having his entire life ahead of him still. But he's done making money. It's a tiny window to make as much money as possible.
  10. Lots of plays are grueling. Football is grueling. Playing Interior OL is grueling. Yet he didnt sustain a single injury from it.
  11. What has Cook held out from? Did OTAs start?
  12. It's not the "pushing of the tush" that causes the injury or more chance for an injury. This injury issue and opportunity exists among QB sneaks. If no one were behind them, the same exact thing would happen.
  13. I'll never forget the moment in the first Miami game where he burst through the line, hit the second level, and only #21 on Miami was left to stop him. #21 being Poyer I jumped up knowing Cook was taking that to the house. He toasted Poyer and cruised in. We were up 24-7 by halftime, and all 3 of our TDs were scored by Cook. A 20yd pass reception TD, a short yardage 1st and Goal 1yd power run, and a 49yd take it to the house run on the first play of the possession. Who needs him to pass block when he's so busy scoring TDs?
  14. He just started and Vrabel already has me agreeing more with him than McDermott... https://www.si.com/nfl/mike-vrabel-honest-opinion-potentially-banning-tush-push-patriots ..."There's a lot of plays that you have to defend, whether that's quarterback sneaks, whether that's zone read—there's a lot of plays that are hard to defend, and I don't think that you can get rid of them every time that you have a tough time stopping it," Vrabel said in an interview with Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio. "I mean, Lamar Jackson shouldn't be able to run with the football anymore, how about making that rule? Like that's tough to defend." It seems so far that the league's coaches have differing views on the proposal. Buffalo Bills coach Sean McDermott expressed his concern for player safety with the tush push, meaning he's for the ban....
  15. Oh for sure youre right in the case of the Jets. I was speaking more generally about how they are used in a larger corporate setting. But the motivation is still the same with the Jets. Save face, protect against lawsuits. Two things that are the top of the priority list for NFL teams already, let alone in the middle of laying off most of your staff.
  16. Neither can the Jets. It's absolutely futile for the rest of us. But, I'll happily watch them keep on Jettin' it up while they're in our division!
  17. In the Ja'marr Chase/CeeDee Lamb class? Absolutely. He's our 2nd best player on Offense, behind only the league MVP. He has the ability to take it to the house on any play and had MULTIPLE 45+ yd TD runs last year.
  18. Ja'marr Chase and CeeDee Lamb also scrubbed their socials and made public comments. They signed huge deals. I'm sure there are others I'm not remembering off the top of my head. As long as it doesnt get to hold-out-status, we're good. Look at all the public statements Myles Garrett just made. Landed him a huge deal.
  19. Right, so you got the point that all the same stuff said about Cook for doing largely the same thing, is all off-base.
  20. To that end, we have no idea what Beane's initial offer looked like. If it's in the same vein of team-friendly deals, it could have been $8M-10M/yr. Cook says "$15M". All this drama happens and he "caves" for $11M-12M. All the old man social media fans will blast Cook and say he looks like a fool for settling for less than $15M. But he may have just as easily earned himself an extra $2M-4M/yr for all we know.
  21. You arent wrong. However, with this program, all the high-performers who applied got denied. We can still leave on our own terms, but without the package. I originally applied for the buyout, but was then pulled aside and shown the new plan where both my boss and I ended up with promotions, so I pulled my application and stayed. And frankly, with how horrible the job market is in the tech sector, and only getting worse, I need the stability as a dad to a young kid. That said, back when all this started, it inspired me to start some new Cyber Security certs. Likely looking to leave at the end of this year, but at least on my own timing.
  22. Saving face and protecting against lawsuits. Most of the folks actually targeted in these programs are long-time, high-ranking executives. VPs, SVPs, etc. It's a bad look for both sides if a company fires 25% of their VPs. Leads to questioning what is wrong with those execs and how bad of shape the company is in. By applying for the package, part of the deal you sign waives any and all ability to sue for wrongful termination, and it also prevents you from getting unemployment. It essentially turns into a resignation and is better for the company than firing. These programs do not typically apply to entry-level, front line workers. Folks in the call centers weren't eligible. I'm not sure they were ever even told about the program. Those folks are easily fireable.
  23. My favorite time of year! A big thanks to Virgil and all the volunteer owners who do this. Makes this boring part of the year a bit more interesting. I cant wait to hate who we pick in the poll.
