  1. Penn States coaching search so far: Matt Rhule extended at Nebraska Kalani Sitake extended at BYU Curt Cignetti extended at Indiana Mike Elko extended at A&M Eli Drinkwitz extended at Missouri Clark Lea extended at Vandy Jeff Brohm staying at Louisville Bob Chesney hired at UCLA UH OHHHHH
  2. I guess I'm not understanding the point you were making in a thread about McDermott's coaching, and I even went back and followed the entire quote/comment track. Sure, I'll take a SB victory in any way shape or form, even if we play cupcakes the whole way. No one cares post facto. But if we're debating his ability to get there and how we feel about McD as a coach, it seemed like you illustrated that he'll only get there if/when the good QBs arent in the playoffs. I'd agree that Lamar Jackson is the best QB McD has been capable of beating in the playoffs. Even though the defense left the Ravens top receiver open on that 2-point conversion and needed to rely on an out-of-character drop by Andrews to save the victory. Which was right after the Defense let the Ravens march 88 yards down the field on only 8 plays in only 1:56 to score a TD... I think there's another discussion to be had on Lamar in general, but that's a whole other thread. But yes, to your point, hopefully we dont have to play any top QBs and then we might have a chance at winning a SB. Not sure what that says about our D coach tho.
  3. It matters in that our best chances to win a SB are with the good QBs out of the playoffs since McDefense can't stop them in the playoffs. Seems like that's the point youre trying to make? We have to hope for the good Offenses to not be good on their own, or not make the playoffs at all, otherwise there is no shot our Defense stops them.
  4. I feel like when coaches wait, it's usually the coach's decision. It's a high stress job they just got out of, and they still get paid for sitting home, so take some time off and get a perspective break, see how much your kids have grown, then ease into the right situation. JMO, but I think a lot of these guys get calls and opportunities right away but want to wait and see before diving back into the shark tank. I know I would. Unless of course the dream scenario presents itself. If McD wasnt hired right away, I wouldnt see that as a knock on him. Not until year 2 or 3 of sitting at home.
  5. Were most of those good years when Frazier was here? If this is an auto-correct typo that changed "apologists" to "poop skits" I'm gonna go change the title of that other thread to "McD Poop Skits..."
  6. I'd honestly rather have the 7th seed and get the Broncos and then Patriots. Both are young, inexperienced teams. Bo Nix WILL fall apart in the playoffs again. And while I think Vrabel has McD's number, I'll take our playoff experience over the Patriots. Side note: I love the Patritos typo. I hope they are moving to Mexico.
  7. We would never be in the Browns situation. We have Josh. They havent had anything close ever.
  8. Yeah I certainly get all that and say as much here myself. It wasnt aimed at you specifically. But too many folks want to try to shut down discussions with "Well who do you have that you know will be better?!?" like it's some checkmate.
  9. Great post, Andy. Even as someone who wants McD replaced, I would be bummed. Bummed that even though he broke the drought and rebuilt the culture and organization, his main lasting legacy will be "13 seconds" and the guy who couldnt even get to a Super Bowl with Josh Allen at QB. That honestly makes me sad for him. I wish it would be different, and commented as much in the "Haters" thread. To your point about the candidates, while I dont want a mediocre retread like the ones youve named, I would be willing to take a big risk on an up and coming first-timer like Clint Kubiak.
  10. So, I agree with @NewEra that we missed the boat on the obviously better choices of Vrabel, Johnson, Payton, and Jim Harbaugh. And there arent any top tier candidates left to choose from. And that makes firing McD scary. However, I more so agree with your point that us fans dont need to have the answer ready. The point I always make in that regard is "No one here in December 2016 was talking about Sean McDermott". He was on the radar of a couple people (I think @GunnerBill and a maybe 1 or 2 other deep researchers). But the vast majority of current McD die-hards, who are scared of the risk of moving on, didnt even know the guy existed before we hired him. So let's take that leap and try to improve while we can.
  11. It tells nothing. YOU literally started this with "most of the people who vocally want him gone". Yeah, I'm vocal that I want him gone. Beyond that you were wrong on every other point.
