But his money comes from China. Why should he care? I don't think America would have stood for that. But, as I've said before this didn't start on 9/11, it started in 1993 when the WTC parking garage got blowed up. The intent was to bring the building down then, they just weren't very good demolition engineers. The administration didn't seem to care then probably because the building DIDN'T fall. Not newsworthy. I can't see how they could dodge the issue again if Gore had won, as it was their total lack of understanding and policy that allowed another eight years of planning. Bin Laden declared war on the US in 1993, not 2001. Somebody would have pointed this out, and made things pretty uncomfortable for the Gore administration.

Any insight there you might care to add?

Watching some early morning news shows here and there, I'm still seeing people stating with "conviction": "It's not foreign owned companies we are objecting to, it's companies owned by foreign governments" OK. I'm still dumbfounded that no one is actively discussing China and COSCO. Do the anti-Arabs really think nobody is going to notice that China Shipping is owned by the Chinese government?

I wonder what she means by that. I can understand the sentiment if she said Iraq, but Afghanistan? What do people think Gore would have done? Nothing? I want to believe that Gore would have gone after the Taliban/Afghanistan too.

It's a wonder some of them could remain upright.

Some rumblings that he may have been "subtley" poisoned. -
No, Taiwan is not independant. The day they actually declare independance is probably the day you see China launch an invasion.

I've spoke with literally dozens of people over the last year or so that can name every detail of every contestant, episode of Lost or whatever that couldn't find China on a map, let alone the UAE. In their minds, all cultures are American - and if they don't behave in what's considered an acceptable American fashion, they are wrong and need to be corrected. And where do their ideas come from? In some cases, MTV news. Best case, 45 second soundbites on Headline. Our media panders to this general apathy and lack of understanding about many things and it translates to the voting booths. So, I don't see it as a minor issue. Sort of like Hot Pockets. It's called the "American Idol" syndrome. A TV show about some singers winning a prize takes on much more importance than events that shape the country let alone the world. Nothing against entertainment, but not at the total exclusion of anything else.

But people who live for TV know everything about everyone. Let's have another Idol thread. Was that chiffon or polyester?

I watch none of it, but damn...I was channel surfing today. Lazy lying on the couch. Made it through about 10 minutes for each. Damn. Some of you that stupid?

I don't think anyone is controlling anything. Looks more like people I wouldn't want to have to smell. But, drive on. -

One learns how to work the system. I've stayed in high end beach and downtown condos before -and also saved the taxpayers dollars. Split a two/three bedroom condo on a long term TDY, and it's a lot of money under what one would pay for a hotel. Take the per diem/hotel allowance and split it between 2 or 3 on the cost of the place. I'd rather have wine glasses drying on the counter in a full furnished for less money than three months in "I'll leave the lights on". Got a kitchen and etc.. Pocket the difference on the per diem. I've never, ever been anywhere in the world where I couldn't eat well for 40 or 50 bucks a day. Get a place with a kitchen, pots and pans, and find a young, pretty local gal to cook dinner. One can make some good friends that way, too. Keeps one honest. -

Anyone want to go shares on a block on the beach in Costa Rica? If it's any inducement, there are some pretty women down there too. -
I'm glad I'm not you right now...
-
I'm not commenting on what they eat, either. And, I've read your posts. It's also their world. Have you spent any time in China?
-
People don't talk about stuff here. It gets banned or transfered. Good reason for that, too - it's an interstellar message board. This spot is for TV watchers to whom American Idol is life itself, let's talk about it everyday. PPP is really fugged up too, but it's a less restrictive forum than this. As far as YET, I don't think that will happen. First, we don't have any Gulags, and second - I'm pretty good. Doubt they'd find me.
-
Ajzepp. Ever spent anytime in China? Didn't think so. Xenophobia is big, this month. So is saying we aren't imperialistic, not really. Not us. We would never tell someone else how to live, unless it wasn't eating bacon and eggs. A lot of the world considers bacon and eggs for breakfast something to vomit over.

I was really surprised the letter was sealed with orange lipstick. Liked the perfume, though. Oh, never got the Elvira picture. Mickey? Ever notice that not many people are defending parties anymore? -

LOL. Exactly. My current idea of camping is the Raddisson with the pool closed. I meant more in a consultant kind of way. I'm way too old for the other crap, and have no interest. It's hard to sight down an HK with variable focus lenses anyway. -
God bless the internet. Anyone with any reason can access anything out there, pretty much. Ever get a loan? Worry about the government spying on you? I'm more concerned about some Joe or Jane Blow paying 20 bucks for my life history from a "detective" website. How about that Freedom of Information thingy? I still don't know why everyone is so freaked over that. I have many skeletons in my closet and I get looked at very close periodically, and no one has drug me off to the Gulags yet.

Great tip. Just a thought, check and clean your outside coax connections. When I had heavy freezing weather before, I found that ice and corrossion in the connectors was screwing me up more than snow and ice on the dish. Take them apart, clean with an ink eraser or something, put back together and paint with clear nail polish. -

Incredible. It should be an honor to take one of those ships rather than see it turned into scrap. Too bad it can't get docked in Des Moines.
